It would laugh, it muttered in a man's voice, and ever since then parrots kind of creep me out. It's weird to hear a human voice coming out of a non-human creature.

(I have 2 Greys and I have read Dr. Irene Pepperberg's book "Alex & Me"). African Greys find mimicry / repetition tedious and absolutely boring. They are capable of telling the difference in objects that are similar but different shape, size, color, quantity, hot and coldd and knowing the concept of "zero" and other abstract concepts. They can also express emotion and moods (they are HUGE worriers! ..and much more. This type of thing / show really lowers them and only perpetuates the idea that parrots are mere mimics rather being capable of advanced - complicated, actually - thought processes.
