Daniel shows you how to make Seasoned Tofu pockets! It is a popular snack in Korea when going on picnics or attending outdoor events. They are healthy, light and vegetarian friendly. Daniel makes the classic version and a new trending variation that uses a crab meat and cucumber salad topping. Enjoy!

For people with no access to instant/packaged sushi rice, you can just use other short grain rice (indica instead of japonica) in at most 1:2 ratio of rice to water, then season the cooked rice with a tablespoon of sugar, a teaspoon of salt, and one and a half tablespoon of white vinegar for every 350gr of cooked rice. Hope that'll help :)
I just bought a kit. I'm going to add cucumber avocado salad to mine along with the rice. Thanks for the inspiration!
I am making these this weekend! Can't wait! Thank you!
these look amazing! great tutorial
😎 🤩 👏 AWESOME. My son will like this for his school lunch!!!
my brother and I lived in Busan Korea in the mid 80's going to school on a military base that does not exist anymore. we used to go off base to eat this stuff in the little restaurants outside of the gate. I have been wanting these ever since. thank you.
Hey just wanted to say I just found your channel and really appreciate the production value. Quickly showing the entire process at the start is a great idea and helps me decide if the recipe is feasible or looks good.
Welcome aboard Jordan! And thanks for the comment ;) Happy that you like the visual overview upfront - we too get a bit impatient when watching cooking tutorials.. (want to see the plate - nom nom)
That looks so good
Looks yummy, gonna try this for my bento, thankyuu for the recipe
I have been watching a lot of your videos lately. They make me so hungry 😄
I love your videos so much I can't wait to try all of your recipes!! thank you!!
Thanks Pheonix for watching! And also a warm welcome to the Neighborhood ;) Message us if you run into any trouble with the recipes!
Just an FYI to the viewers. All tofu skins I have seen in the markets have bonito extract in the liquid that the tofu skins are soaked in. Bonito extract is a fish extract. It's not a vegetarian or vegan recipe.
The skins used in the Japanese version of this recipe (inarizushi), generally don't have bonito as an ingredient, at least not that I've ever seen. Usually just soy sauce, sugar, and salt or MSG. So that might be a good substitute if it's available to you. Not sure if the flavor is 100% the same though. They come in refrigerated packs that look similar to what's in the video, or in cans. Personally I think the canned kind tastes weird, and the refrigerated packs can be frozen so they don't go bad, but sometimes the can is easier to find. Some brands include powdered sushi vinegar, but most don't so you'll have to add your own rice seasonings. If you go looking for it, it's called abura-age, inarizushi-no-moto, or just inari skins/wraps.
your videos are awesome!!!
This came out great! Looking forward to packing this for lunch at some point in the future. Great videos!
Thanks Casey! If you pack them for a day outside, just perfect!
Hi there! I just discovered your channel and I just wanted to say that I love your videos! Your recipes are super easy to follow and on top of that I love your energy! If I can make a request, would it be possible to make a patato side dish? I dont know the name of it but i had it afew times at korean restaurants and it was kinda sweet. Hope you can read this message! Thank you 🙏
Ah I just love your channel 🌹🇰🇷
wow!! it looks amazing! I live in China and I have never seen skin tofu in that shape but I'll try to find it! I wanna try this!
Can you make a video on making homemade tofu pockets ? Thx
Wonderful! I've been looking for something new to make when my vegetarian sister comes to visit!
I would say it takes about 1-1.5 hours to make for the first time. Get some good music going and let the good times roll ;)
Hello! I just wonder if there is a recipe for the tofu skins cause we can not find it in our markets
I get mine on amazon ☺
Oh my goodness!!! Serious nom!!! Why have I never seen these in Korea!? Clearly, I'm searching for food in the wrong places! I'm sooo making these later this week! Thanks for the videos!
-Veronica
Nom Nom Nom...Hey Veronica ;) You're right - I think its more of a home recipe. I see it at boutique Japanese restaurants or as part of a lunchbox at the KTX train stations. But why buy... when you can make it at home!
Can you use tuna? I had this for the first time in korea and fell in love! Then I got a kit and made it at home b
dude hell yeah
TamaKun, that was so fast yo!
Do you have a link to the kit? I need this in my life and no local stores sell this.
The pockets are made from Yuba and I can buy them seasoned and they're awesome!
any ideas on how to reheat them for lunch the next day if i make them the night before?
Thanks for making a vegetarian one :)
Can you use the day after rice for this?
i love inari D:
Shailaa Kummar
What kind of things would your father make without rice? I’m vegetarian practicing a low carb diet, I tried your nori wraps, those were really good!
When you pack the rice does it need to be cold?
YUMMY ^_______^
nom nom :3
Can you make it with Burmese tofu, because of severe soy allergies, can eat regular tofu.
Does the seasoning and vinegar packet come with the tofu skins? I was confused about where those came from.
J. Haldeman Hi J! Yes, the kits will come with seasoning and the vinegar packets!
Awesome, thank you! I can't wait to make these :)
Hi! First I love ur videos! They're amazing please never change !:)
I have a rice cooker but the rice always sticks at the bottom and on the sides :/ I saw that yours doesn't so I was wondering if you perhaps knew why :')
Hey Exol! Thank you for the comment! I suspect it maybe the rice cooker itself - uneven heating? What is the brand you are using?
Future Neighbor welcome! You guys are funny and teach so well! I drink your recipes and it's always fun!=) glad I found ur channel hehe:P
Well, because I'm the only one to use it, it's the cheapest I could find in the market : www.auchan.fr/selecline-cuiseur-riz-855213/p-c849003# it's this one but it's in French since..well... I'm French haha😅 brand : Selecline
@@LovelyEXOLJonginah Once you're done cooking rice, let the bowl sit outside the rice cooker (i usually put it on a wooden chopping board) for around 10 minutes. Rice shouldn't stick anymore to the bottom once you do this! Hope this helps :)
Pat Gayod ok thx i’ll try !!🙌
Do these store well in the fridge or does the rice get hard? Was thinking about making these for lunchboxes
Ooo! Beautiful Nails ;) Nope, these will go bad quickly. You need to eat in the same day.
Future Neighbor thank you for replying. My husband and I love to make your recipes. We are saving money to buy a house so we are cooking lunch. Could I request a Korean lunch box video?? Thank you, big fans from Chicago!
So it is not supposed to be crispy?
How long does it long if it stored😮
You have to eat them the same day. They go bad very quickly.
This song reminded me of Thomas the Dank Engine 😂
You can just basically eat the rice and veggie mix
Why can't your father eat brown rice? It's delicious AND healthy.
I think the people don't make a difference between a vegetarian and vegan. Both versions look to me vegetarian, just the first one is probably vegan (not that I am an expert, though).
What happened to your girlfriend? She hasn't been in recent videos.
Good morning Shane! (This is Katie) I pinched my lower back 2 weeks ago so I am trying to stay off my feet for extended periods. Be back soon - thanks for the comment ;)
What is the point of wearing ONE glove?
