  • Winter is coming and it is time to update the heater in Clay's Four Wheel Camper!
    Webasto is our go-to heater option for our cold weather builds in the fleet. Due to its fuel consumption and capabilities at higher altitudes, we chose the EVO 40 for this install.
    Are you looking to get away from propane or looking for an upgraded heat source? Look into the products from Webasto!

    Awesome to see in a Four Wheel Camper, have a few customers who have been asking. They recently added shell w/ front dinette as an option so you can get a Hawk around price of a loaded Project M and were adding our own heaters to them.

    Yeahhh!!! No propane anxiety!! Did the Timberline heater/water heater in mine and one of my fav upgrades! Ran almost constantly on my Arctic ocean trip and sips fuel out of my aux gasoline tank. Dumped propane all together with an induction cook top! All the space it opened up getting rid of the propane fixtures AND tank storage was amazing!

    I got a Webasto 2K gasoline unit to heat my roof top tent and love it. It's quiet and very fuel and power efficient. It wasn't cheap, but I didn't want to go with a 3rd fuel (2nd is propane as well) and the Chinese diesel heaters were fairly unknown at the time. I did pickup a Vevor diesel 5K this year on sale and have been using it around the shop the last few weeks and have been pleased with them.

    Very nice, compact little heater! Surprised there is no link to Webasto's site. Also, in that cold climate, I still think that hanger door is a really silly choice, if you're not bringing in airplanes. Just my humble opinion, but I'm correct. LOL

    I've been looking for someone to put a diesel heater in a Hawk Flatbed! Nice work!! Where did y'all put the air intake for the heat exchange? I saw you put the air intake for combustion chamber in the fridge outside vent.

    We have Webasto heaters in most of our vehicles in the german army, many of them over 20 years old that see only minimum maintenance and often terrible use, i‘ve only seen one fail, and it wasn‘t even the heater itself but the diesel hose that flows into the device itself started leaking.
    I think you did a good purchase with a Webasto system!
    Is it also connected to your engine coolant circle in order to condition the engine before starting it cold?

    Many question and thanks for the video. So if I caught it in the video this a Webasto EVO 40 diesel heater? I'm currently building a 2004 Ext Cab HD 2500 long bed Duramax. This is probably the heat source I'd ultimately love to use. So it will have a Moon Lander Camper as stand up room for me is not a necessity. I'm curious if I would need another fuel tank with the setup? Since the unit sips fuel it might be overkill. Anyway I love all you adventures and info on this channel plus I think we've talked a time or two at the Overland Expo. I live in Colorado so not to far from Montana. If you ever in my neck of the woods give me a holler. I'm in the Western Slope area.

  • @rbljackson

    IM new to these diesel heaters, but they sound like a big upgrade over propane. So as a guy who hunts from deer blinds in the winter, can you tell me how much diesel exhaust there is, is there a lot of smell from them?IM guessing not. Im thinking this could be an awesome upgrade for a late season deer blind if the exhaust fumes are minimal. And yeah yeah to those who look down on deer blind...LOL. I also like to hunt off my back for days in the mtns for elk and mule deer. The deer blinds for whitetails are a nice contrast!

    • @Tanner_Johnson
      @Tanner_Johnson Před 7 měsíci +1

      You definitely wanna run the exhaust outside because yes it will smell but if you are in colder temperatures, it is ideal to run the diesel heater off of kerosene due to the lack of issues in cold cold weather. The other nice thing about kerosene as a fuel is it burns extremely clean and does not stink nearest bad is regular diesel?

    Thanks for another good video. One question: where is the diesel tank installed or is it connected to the vehicle?
    (On my rig I decided for a separate tank in my FWC, which makes disconnecting the FWC easier )

    • @Tanner_Johnson
      @Tanner_Johnson Před 7 měsíci +1

      We installed a long range auxiliary fuel tank underneath of the truck. Before that tank went in there was a fuel pick up tube put in knowing that eventually we would put in a diesel heater. So the diesel heater is pulling straight from the auxiliary. long range fuel tank.
