  • At Wessex Archaeology, our talented in-house Studio team use a wide range of materials, from traditional hand drawings and watercolours to full 3D reconstructions, to bring archaeology to life. Our artists work closely with our specialists to accurately visualise past communities and landscapes based on the archaeology and environmental evidence we discover on site. These reconstructions are vital in our mission to depict the lives of people in the past and to share their stories.
In our new video series, Painting the Past, we’re excited to showcase exactly how our artists bring archaeology to life! Discover how Illustrator and Reconstruction Artist Jennie Anderson utilises a variety of sources to create this detailed reconstruction of an Anglo-Saxon Woman in our new time lapse video.
