I dont think this is the fix you are looking for. you need to go to gopro settings > Connection > USB = MTP (Media Transfer Protocol), and even if the GoPro 9 is ON, it will still work, no need to turn it off and on again

To get the GoPro Hero 9 Black to show up at all in Windows 10, you need to change a setting on the GoPro. Swipe down and go to the right and choose Connections > USB Connection > MTP. Then plug that bad boy into Windows and copy away!

Hi there, great video and very simply explained :) I just have two questions. 1) what is the file type of those video files in the gopro folder, Are they .mp4? 2) If you wanted to upload say a raw 5k footage file to CZcams, could you just drag and drop the video file you wanted onto your desktop and then directly upload it to YT without the need for any processing in any software?
I'm asking this because I don't have much ram but I only want to create simple, private videos for friends & family, but i'd still like the highest quality possible! So I don't think i'll be able to edit & process anything at 4k quality & above on my PC so I was thinking that a direct upload may allow me to still record really high quality stuff and get it on here? (if it's possible)

Great video. One tip. You should have mentioned to change the setting in the actual Hero 9 camera to MTP. It is in the GoPro settings on the camera. Settings -> Connections -> USB Connection -> MTP

Hi, great video, very helpful. I just bought a hero 9, second hand. When i connect to the sd card I see MP4 video files and also THM files, which I think are seperate audio files? Is this normal? I didn't see these files in your video.

Select "MTP" in connections in order to transfer pictures.... make sure the hindsight option is off for it to work. It can be found in the recording settings
MTP is on, hindsight is off, still laptop won't locate my Go Pro! OK, I guess either the computer or Go pro is picky about cables! Switching cables worked.
When I try to import it into editing software it always says media offline because the file on the GoPro SD card will always be the original file and I can't download and use the footage if its in a different file, however whenever I try importing from the OG file it doesn't work. I'm trying to use Davinci Resolve 17.

You should have mentioned the camera has to be set to MTP, under USB connections. The rest, if it's set properly, is pretty typical for just about any connection for file transfer. A 5-year-old could do it.

Is there a way to view gopro videos before dragging them onto the desktop? I want to make sure I save only the videos that are worth saving to me. I dont want to import every video I capture on my GoPro.
The folder showing Hero9 GoPro did not show up in my File Explorer after I plugged in the USB cord and turned on the camera. It seems like I have no way of getting the pictures this way. Do you know what could be the problem? Also, do you know how to get the photos to connect to my GoPro cloud on the computer? This also is not working for me. Additionally, my camera has randomly turned off a few times while I have been using it and then the power button doesn't seem to work for a few minutes at all. Do you think my camera has a problem? I just purchased it about two weeks ago. Thank you.

this didnt work for me so i just ordered an SD card reader (Adapter) on amazon. im pretty sure its going to work that way for me. it should be coming in saturday
when i open the sd card a video has 2 files sometimes seen like.. SFK file. do i just cut and paste the movie file and thats all..
I hadn't used Gopro and that frustrating quip for 5 months. When I tried to take photos out of the unit I couldn't get access to the media from my PC. The magic touch was not having the battery in the gopro. Thanks.

I try to transfer files from gopro 10 to pc. While gopro 10 is connecting to media mode. And what happens is: Gopro accepts PC, and PC also accepts gopro. I can also access Gopro's video library but I can't copy files from gopro 10 to my pc. The file transfer process just started for a few seconds when it failed. My question is: Is there a way to transfer files from Gopro to PC, while Gopro 10 is still connected to Media Mode. I know that just removing Media Mode from Gopro 10 will make file transfer easy. But I'm lazy. Thanks in advance for your support

I have never taken out the batteri on my gopros when transfering and the batteri never failed me.

go to settings on your gp , then preferences , connections , usb , and swtich to mtp

Off topic, but am struggling to find a proper answer to this: when I switch on my gopro hero9 black, it automatically goes into timewarp mode. This is infuriating. IS there any way to set it so it goes straight to video mode instead and stays there?

on my GoPro its slow motion and when I transfer the videos to my computer its not in Slow Motion anymore.

My laptop beeps when I hook up my hero 9 but nothing pops up, no files, nothing in file explorer or this pc. I’ve tried different cords, all 3 usb ports. It’s a new laptop but idk why it’s not reading. I set up Microsoft edge, linked Google, I can search the web. Idk what it’s missing
