The 1/28 scale Team Associated platform has been one of our favorites since we started driving RC cars. Today we look at the newest MT28 monster truck and compare it to the short course truck and buggy which we drove in the past!

" _It's not really important_ " .........unless you want a miniature crawler. I paid the extra bucks and bought a 1/24th crawler with 4 steering modes for winter driving indoors. It goes almost everywhere regardless of surface and also can FPV
It's great fun playing with the little stuff like the MT28 ( _even if you are a big kid aged 63_ ) and really you now have so much choice of car genre that whatever you want there is one out there. Great video as always

Should try modding these with a bit larger motor from a quadcopter, a 7x20 mm brushed motor from a hubsan h107l or similar motor should fit nicely as its slightly longer can you'll have more torque & a 400 mah 1s lipo should get it running nicely.
My tomy gx buggy 1:32 scale with the battery mounted just about too the middle does wheelies easily with a 320 mah battery fairly close too the rear end of the car.
Placing a larger lipo just behind the red led on this should give it a decent amount of traction & ofc lots of runtime.
(Not sure you'll wheelie though with that longer wheelbase.)

I miss the 1/24 ruckus, small scale with independent suspension and 4wd. They discontinued it not too long ago. Now they have a 1/24 barrage for $100, RTR. I have that one and if you put it on a 2S lipo it goes as fast at an RC28, while also being a neat little crawler. It handles crawling very well despite it being so small and bouncy.

Got this for my boys five months ago. They loved them and it was the only Christmas toy they routinely still reach for when we play in the driveway. Word of warning: the trucks are tough but the remotes are not. My 7-year old is a klutz and his remote broke a few weeks ago because he dropped it too many times. The 4-year-old’s remote and truck are still going strong after almost five months of almost daily use.

Kyosho has a Mini-z MR03 that I think is 1/27th scale. Here in Alaska, nobody races these. They are so fast and so fun, I would almost move to find a club or organization that actively races them. And I believe they’re powered off AA batteries, both the radio & the car, so, you get an almost indefinite run time. They’re like $150+ but completely worth it and very upgradable.

How do you think the quality of this compares to something that you'd buy at Walmart, since it has a similar look to the simplicity of it? Does the team associated name do anything for the quality? I used to race for team associated and I currently have many high-end RC cars of many brands, so I understand the higher end quality.. But I'm curious what other people think about this car vs the kind they sell at Walmart and Target. I have no clue about the low end car quality. The dept store cars seem to only last about a month and I'm wondering if this car could possibly ast for several years? Obviously it would be difficult to replace any parts on this car if the motor burned out or something. .
