    On the Healer thing you said at the end, I've been watching Cider Spider's mentor roulette vids as well lately and while he never says when in the day he's been doing them, he has been sticking with Scholar for them, and so far he's had mostly dungeons for his runs, with nary an EX Trial to be actually seen yet. Not sure if it is just luck or what, but it is what it is right now, and just more oddities on top of things.

      My theory on why healers get more dungeons during mentor to roulette is that there are less low level healers than the other classes. Unless people are going through their roulettes or are specifically queueing for content you only have Whm as a healer for level 15-30 content. Once you get to 30 you also have Sch, and while you technically have Ast as well you don't get access to it until after level 50, so it harder to find healers for low level content. Out of 62 dungeon runs I got as healer recently, 31 of them were in ARR.
      There is also the fact until level 70 you only have 3 healers while tanks get their 4th at 60 and so you probably have a surplus of tanks doing dungeons
      Also another reason right now is people are probably rushing to level other jobs for Dawntrail. And so same as before, healers are in short supply.

    • @zordiark9673
      @zordiark9673 Před měsícem +2

      @@ZanrosHoreak Imo, it could be the fact that there are way more dungeons than anything else in the game and Healers are needed in every que. So instead of looking for a Trial/Raid that needs 2 Healers at the same time, the Game will just put you in a Dungeon run to get it going.

    The arf orbs are soo fast compared to everything up till that period. I love them personally, but taking actual newbies through is awful.
    For the level 90 dancer, I imagine they've got gear from elsewhere and perhaps levelled through frontline or just haven't played for a while. All my job gear is at 650+ but I would probably do quite badly if I picked ninja or bard back up!

    When I first did ARF, I had some problems with the (somewhat) demanding timing on Dualstar, so that is what I usually expect first timers to struggle with… but the last couple times I have been in there, it’s been the damned CHAINS that they can’t seem to get. It seems like the last mechanic before the chains lock in is a regular pink spread marker, and nearly universally I am seeing people running wayyy too far (Narnia) and then not having any room left to run further apart and break them.

    • @CaetsuChaijiCh
      @CaetsuChaijiCh  Před měsícem

      Yeah the classic disaster of chains is both people being too far due to other mechanics, or even starting running too soon and then being unable to break them! It is a bit surprising it would be the problem mechanic, but I can definitely believe it! 😅

I was playing Dancer myself and with about 25% of Byakko's HP left the main tank died and, for some reason, I was second on aggro. In an 8 person team with 3 other DPS and a second tank who was still alive. Huh. For some reason the healers didn't or couldn't get the main tank back up and the second tank never ended up putting their tank stance on to take over so I literally ended up tanking Byakko's last 25% HP as Dancer. Kudos to the healers and having my self heals/defensives still available I guess. Had no idea DNC was a tank in FF14. lol

    For that Guilhest: I think the idea is actually that you need to NOT look at the mobs names but instead of what they actually do. There are a few mobs with the same name that actually are different "classes". Some of the chanters you kill are essentially bait gladiators and not conjurers. Notice how the duty description on the right say "prevent the *conjurers* from healing" not the *chanters*.

    Watching this series I fully expected to be annoyed with you after the first video, which I felt overstated how often "difficult" content comes up in DF. To my surprise though I think you offer a pretty balanced look at the true state of mentor roulette. As a side note, I think the reason you encounter so little toxicity in your videos is because you're not a horrible, antisocial person. Most players who try to give advice to new or bad players just aren't good at talking to people, lots of "I mean, I'm not TRYING to be a dick, buuut". You're just nice to people. A ten minute browse through talesfromDF and the prevailing opinions that get shared there will tell you that most of those people have horrible social skills, and that it's no wonder they get drama-filled duties so often.

      @intensellylit4100 ARF used to have a mechanic where ascian prime would start casting universal manipulation, and you had these void zones you could step into. Thing is, you had to step into them, a few seconds would pass, then the game would have you get sucked in. When the spell resolved, if you were not yet inside, you would get every debuff under the sun, and possibly just die. If you were inside in time, it would simply pull you back into the fight.
      This mechanic was removed with the rework of the fight. Which I believe happened during endwalker.
      Meanwhile. Vanaspati, the level 85 dungeon, has a boss, the second one, with water bubbles you need to enter in the exact same way to avoid an otherwise unavoidable aoe.

      @ellasbian has been true for at least ALL of endwalker! 😁
      Don't worry though, this is only relevant in the level range of 46 to 53, as when broil is learned at 54, single targeting on single target is optimal once again! 😉

    Bro, the amount of time those stupid bubbles or whatever takes to register you as inside them, in any dungeon is AWFUL. I JUST had this happen to me in vanaspati yesterday. It's awful.

    I noticed in several clips you were using your aoes on bosses instead of single-targetting. Are you alright? Is mentor roulette melting your brain? If so might be time for a bit of a break.

      At level 50, ruin 1 is 150 potency.
      Art of war is also 150 potency at level 50.
      Casting spells delay your auto attack, which means art of war and auto attacking is more dps than ruin 1 and auto attacking. While it costs more mp, that is completely irrelevant 😊
      You may also enjoy my level 30-50 Scholar guide which has "art of war is a gain on 1!" portrayed in the thumbnail! 😁😉

      @laceyclark311 no I don't have a dps meter. But you wouldn't need it to know, because the numbers check out. Go into any content that syncs you to level 50 and you can see the potencies of the attacks, and they mean exactly what they say 😉
      Edit: or were you perhaps just curious how much more damage we are talking? 😊

      @@CaetsuChaijiCh I was actually curious as to how much more actual damage it was. It just seems very much like an incredibly negligible damage boost. I've been told that it's better to single-target on bosses/2 mobs remaining, and SE seems to agree on that route based on potency increases over the expansions on certain skills; though they have been known to mislabel some potencies before.
      Then again my journey through FF14 I've gotten some extremely questionable/outdated advice from mentors, and some of it is straight up wrong. It's partially why I have my doubts about a gain on 1.
      Certain subreddits made posts about certain people aoe'ing on bosses in some roulettes, however it's been about whm ast and sage aoe'ing and being incorrect about it being stronger on single-target in level 50 duties.
      It's kind of why I wanted to look at the hard numbers to try to replicate it without forcing randoms into a duty. Trusts/npcs do not effectively replicate player tactics/dps as well as I would have hoped it would.
