    One thing I have run into a lot especially with lower level healers, if they are free trial half the time they dont even have party chat open. A lot of time they are stuck on /say chat still and dont even see you talking to them.
    Another thing that I think is super important, is that MOST healers just leveling or just healing every now and then DO NOT know the different tanks. They dont know about DRK being squishy AFTER they run out of their main cooldowns and before TBN is back, they dont know about PLD self heal, they dont know about GNB absolutely wrecking your healing cooldowns with superbolide and they especially, always, do not know that warrior does not need a healer for 95% of the dungeons in the game after lvl 56. They treat every tank the same, which is fair in terms of not trusting randos to not die, but as a warrior main its incredibly sad that I cant use my cooldowns because of lack of healer knowledge.
    Any newbie healers reading this, learn your tanks! Some need more healing, some need less, and some just need you to occassionally look at their HP and wonder if they are gonna use invuln or--oh wait, no, they are back to full health again.

    To elaborate on the question of Sprint, one other thing to look out for in these situations are any points in the dungeon where the healer can lose Line of Sight on you. If your Sprint leaves them behind but they can still quickly get to healing range, it won't matter, but if they have to run around a corner, things might get spicy. Maybe stop your sprint before you turn that corner, or pull whatever is behind it and walk back until you're visible again.

    Ended up running Paglthan and Heroes Gauntlet a whole bunch this weekend as Red Mage and Dancer trying to get a few specific pieces of gear to drop (glam requires sacrifices) and it was a real rollercoaster. Multiple times I was getting tanks that consistently seemed to be using their single target attacks on everything so I was routinely pulling aggro off of them. The even stranger part to me was that they clearly knew their AOEs existed because you'd see the aggro colours ping pong between them having full aggro and me almost pulling, almost as if they were single targetting most of the time and then using an AOE hit or two to pull aggro back to them before they lost it. The only thing I can chalk it up to in these level 80 capstone dungeons is with Dawntrail coming soon and the boost sale still on they may have just boosted their way there and didn't really know how tanking works in FF14.
    Oh, and that "Stack with your rocks" mechanic on the Heroes Gauntlet final boss is a nightmare for so many people. So many times I'd see someone leave their rock pile to go and stack with someone else at their rock pile instead. The turn and face line AOE he has also consistently sniped people. Just as in this video, you really need to look at both cast bars and the boss themself.

    When I saw the thumbnail I really thought you had landed with a free cure trapped white mage (as memtioned in discord) thankfully I was wrong, though the castrum cure 1 using white mage was a bit of an eh moment as imo its easier just to throw a renew/medica 2 for topping up the person/group depending on the damage received especially at level 50.

    I have been watching your videos for help on FF14 and others, we talked before here on the comments. Got really good at Blk mage, at least I think I did, and started playing other classes.
    In the defense of Healer (using scholar), I play on ps5 and I find it very difficult trying to heal and do dmg while pulling. If am facing one boss its easier to switch but still not completly use to it. While pulling is just insane, specially when its a big pull. I know this is a controller issue and experience, but once I conf my setting for target the nearest enemy for dmg that help a lot, am looking it to way of doing the same for healer.
    Now, after playing for a bit as a healer I cam say that the strike makes sense, the dps cycle fpr healer is very boring, as well as heals, maybe because am coming of as a blk mage main and using a bit of red mage. But damn is boring, the only complex healer is astro that can buff the team ( very cool for healers), and I heard they are making it more simple. We need a bit of complexity so that we can be creative and perform better.

    • @patrickarraes4422
      @patrickarraes4422 Před 10 dny

      I come from playing Destiny 2, and yes there is a very toxic community there. But when I look at what subclasses can do there and the complexity and builds and etc. Its amazing, so much creativy of expressions. Yes there is overpower builds, but you can play like you want for, anyway as I see from destiny, for healers they can do more then just heal, they could create buff players, not just 6% but more, they could buff defense or make the enemy do less dmg or slow, or even stun. Create make allies unmovable so that can be immune for a dmg, have more things instead of just heal on or party

    I wish there were more helpful people in duty finder like you. I came from WoW in 2021 and was afraid to play any sort of healer because of how you got treated if you were bad. In FFXIV, I want to get that confidence to heal more but I'm still so scared that I'm going to mess up by hitting the wrong button or using the wrong mit that I usually level all my healers in duty support.

      Hi, I'm a healer main who recently decided to give tanking a go. Hopping into roulettes and the like while leveling I think is better while learning, because you get your mistakes out when your toolkit is smaller. Much easier to learn when to heal and when to DPS when you've just got cure 1 and stone as opposed to a full toolkit.
      (I tried to learn to tank with GNB and it was hard so I went back to Warrior and I am enjoying it a lot more with a smaller toolkit and think I will be a much better GNB for it)

    • @CaetsuChaijiCh
      @CaetsuChaijiCh  Před 12 dny +2

      That's a very good tip about getting the mistakes dealt with early on. If you don't see other players, they don't get to help you learn either, so it is a bit of a difficult situation there 😅

    Talking about sprint was nice to hear. It’s been a smaller question I’ve had.
    Like, know everyone wants to get through the dungeon as quickly as possible. But, having the tank speed ahead/around a corner/wall, so the healer looses line of sight/is past max range. Never did seem worth it to me.
    Know on my end, I’ll basically do bad movements/small circles or whatever else allows everyone else to stay close enough whenever possible. Not sure how large of a difference in makes in the grand scheme of everything, but always felt better to see at the end of the wall the group of enemies already down a large portion of health and my own health bar at 75% or more.

    Your way of addressing issues you see with asking if you can give a tip seems effective, and something I will try - but do you have tips for people who immediately become defensive or passive aggressive? As a WAR, I'm sure it's a shrug, but when playing a tank that needs a little more attention at low levels, it can make the experience harrowing.
    I'm sure it's just because of the uptick in people prepping for DT, who aren't chronically online like me, but I also have been having a rough time in roulettes with Healers especially. Including a "SGE Main" (self proclaimed when asked) who only used Diagnosis for pulls lol. Having a better way to deal with these things that isn't one mob at a time would be preferred.

    6:10 in that situation i have to be honest ... if you arent sure if you have to heal ... maybe try to not heal sometimes in that situation ... to be honest even if the tank dies you could simply say "sorry miscalculated that :(" or something .. and i would even bet on it that 95% of all tanks will not be angry at all ... of course IF that just happens once or maybe twice in one dungeon ... and of course its a "better excuse" the lower level you are .. but in fact you could even have nearly every job at 90 and just came back to the game 2 weeks ago ... most people will support you with tips if you tell them ..
    but at the same time i understand ... healing in FF14 is a weird topic compared to other games .. its often "attack if no heal is needed" but in FF14 its more like "attack till healing is REALLY needed" and especially if you dont play heal that much it can be hard to know the "edge" how much you have to heal or how less you could heal before the tank dies
    and no you dont want me as healer im a whm main and especially if i know the content the chance to get heal from me if you as a tank are over 30% hp is ... pretty low ;D
    10:20 but thats not fair .. you are warrior xD but that is one reason why i most of the time just use sprint as healer .. if the tank is using it ... unless if i die and have to run back to the group ... maybe ... maybe not ... some tanks just dont care about that and just going to kill themself if the healer cant sprint and refuse to run a few steps back to even try to get in range for a heal in case its needed

  • @knightofxentar
    @knightofxentar Před 12 dny

    This regards level 50 and below content.
    I have no issues using Scholar, Astrologian, Sage. For the life of me I'm having tanks die or just melt when I'm running White Mage. All the other healers I can monitor a tank and figure out what is the safe percentage of their health before healing is needed depending on their play style. But as White Mage Cure 2 is too slow, Cure 1 can mostly keep up but "I'm casting Cure 1". Sometimes I can get tanks that I can squeeze in a Cure 2. But when running White Mage the only thing I can do is spam heals for the first half of a mob pull. I am precasting regen once the tank gets agro, or out of agro range just before they start pulls. I'm using holy when it's available once the tank stops to deal with the pulls. I'm using the oGCD if it's available. Is this just an aspect of pre-50 level content for White Mage, or am I the baddie?

    • @orciencor6001
      @orciencor6001 Před 11 dny +1

      Amusingly for me, with whm I can deal with anything the tank can actually handle with no issues, but with the shield healers, I tend to run out of everything but whatever their most basic heal is pretty quick. Though I fully admit I am *NOT* well versed with either as well, and I'm entirely sure it's a me thing there. Astro is just too similar to Whm for me to have the issue with it. Didn't even realize cure 2 was actually slower, had to look that up to compare to Astro (I knew it was more expensive for... whatever reason.. despite having the same potency as Benefic 2.)
      But, just sitting here thinking about various ARR content runs, and I think I do tend to need to spend more time healing than I can attacking on average. In anything with harder hitting mobs, it's often cure2->cure2/regen->holy/aero 'rotation'. Middling damage I can alternate healing and attacking, and in the light hitting places I can attack more. So... yeah, honestly, it really may just be a whm thing. Though it can sometimes feel hard to get them in there, the holy stuns really can give you some leeway for yet another holy, or topping someone off before stunning them again at the start of fights. Could opt to swift cast the first one, or presence of mind a chain of them. Always fun to do, even if you might have to pause on your flash banging to heal someone. At least it'll be faster for a few seconds every so often.

    • @AdamKafei
      @AdamKafei Před 9 dny

      There are definitely some cases in the level 30-50 range (Stone Vigil, Aurum Vale, Darkhold) where W2W pulls can be a bit on the nasty side for a WHM but that's where Presence of Mind (PoM) comes in. If you are properly geared and can't keep up with damage casting back to back Cure 2s under PoM then your tank is doing something wrong. As the other commenter points out, it is common when things get bad to alternate cure 2 and holy, sometimes I will spend swiftcast for a cure 2 if I believe it will save me a raise but other than the above and suggesting you apply some of the shield healer anticipation of healing need to start casts earlier, I can't give more productive advice without seeing you run.

    Less slacking, more tomahawks.
    Seems like you are pointing out mistakes of the healers. Allow me to return the favour.
    Did you know, warrior has the hardest hitting spammable instant single target ranged attack than all other tanks in the form of tomahawk?
    For most of your pulls, you opt to run from one pull to the next with just 1 initial aoe attack, and did nothing while running. You were wasting a lot of gcd not using tomahawk. Your tomahawk generate more enmity than any of your single hit that could prevent any dps from pulling off of you during the pull. Not to mention that each would count as 150 potency. If you do it 5 times on the run, that’s a whole 750p that will surely shorten the time to clear the pack.
    Not using tomahawk while running means you are actually throwing one of the warrior’s advantages out the window!!
    My recommendation is to get used to clicking the enemy UI bar and hit each and every mob within your range with that tomahawk.

      @CaetsuChaijiCh  Před 11 dny

      That is true, and sometimes I do do this, but I often value running ahead to pull the next pack sooner over sneaking in an extra tomahawk, and this often causes me to be out of range of mobs to use tomahawk anyway.
      With that said, the potency difference you did list here adds up to about one, if not less than one holy cast, not even considering the actual damage per potency between the jobs, so this is something I would normally file under excessive nitpicking (and yes I do also dabble in nitpicking myself 😉)
      In regards to the part about preventing dps from pulling mobs off of me, was this a common problem in the video? 😂
      Anyway thank you for the suggestion!

      I personally feel hiding the names dehumanizes them, causing people to think it is more okay to be toxic towards them. I also feel that I am not being outright unfair when pointing out what could be done better in the videos, which, if I was outright insulting them I feel would give much more reason to hide all the names. Confused what the point of this video is. Just gives me the impression you are shit talking healers. You aued for mentor roulette right? Isn't the point of that roulette to pair mentors with possibly I experienced players? Of course you're going to encounter people who do t k ow what the hell they're doing. Level skip is a thing which gives a person less experience with a class than if they played more legit and even then I've been around for a long time and still learning new shit. I'm also unsure but isn't there an option to remove the novice status as well? In other games such statuses can cause a player to basically be ostracized due to toxic communities and if they are coming from such a game their perception of what to expect from FF is clouded, then doing a video like this only confirms their clouded perception. I feel as a mentor myself my job is to help in any way I can to instruct players how to play the game and having a great deal of patience is very important to that as well as not trying to give them a hard time if they aren't doing something correctly. Considering this seems to be targeting healers as well this might be taken out of context for healers and could potentially make these rumors of a healer boycot worse for when DT drops. After all if people are just gunna shit on healers and the devs make the content so easy that it can be cleared without one they why do you need one?

    • @KaguyaEne
      @KaguyaEne Před 12 dny +1

      It sounds heavy handed and shit talk heavy when taking it at face value and not seeing the systemic pattern across a lot of the series. In isolation it looks and sounds pretty bad but across the 14 videos of the series it tells of a systemic problem with the game when it allows players to skip absolutely everything up till the start of current expansion, doesn't adequately explain basic core mechanics to roles in an either intuitive or mandatory way (guildhest and hall of the novice is all optional), nor really encourage players to read their tooltips to get an idea how their job, or role, functions.
      Then we have to consider players being reinforced by their previous experiences to come to a conclusion that what they currently, and in the future, are doing is good and are reluctant to change it in fear of doing something wrong or just feel entitled to the way they play is the right way and anyone else trying to teach/tell them how to play is wrong and isn't the one playing their game for them. It feels like that too many players end up too reluctant to adapt and change after having the initial core part of their kit because "if it worked for me then it'll always work" ends up being the default mentality especially in the case of healers because they haven't necessarily been forced to adapt and move on.
      And about the Healer Strike, the original thread creator for the strike has not completed anything past Extremes with pretty verifiable proof of it. Does it necessarily invalidate the strike? Not really, but quite a number of the points start falling apart because jobs should be tuned to the highest level of content and while dungeon content has been getting seemingly easier it has more so been the product of Tanks gaining more and more defensive power compared to offensive as a result of time as well as a direction to make many dungeon boss mechanics be avoidable damage. But MSQ dungeons are also the bottom level of battle content that everyone should be able to clear through no questions asked so it should be easier.
      Also it is 400 people in "active participation" in their dedicated Discord and the 3400 posts in thread looks like a lot of back and forth flaming/discussion. It's getting more and more discussion cause a number of smaller creators are jumping in on it as well as Zepla sticking her neck into something she never had a stake in.

      I think you completely misunderstood the video Raventhor. 😊
      You can see in the actual chat log in the footage that if I say something, it is well meaning and positive first of all. Second, when I point out the mistakes, it might sound a bit aggressive if the mistakes are particularly bad, but that is because it reaches a point where I try to make it a joke instead because of how bad it is.
      However, the key here is that most often, the problem isn't that the players (for example healers) are making mistakes, the problem is that they do so, and also don't take advice.
      As a mentor, sure, my task is also to help players through, but it isn't to be some god gamer that carries, that is not how this works. As a mentor, my task is also to give advice and help the other players. But if they ignore it or refuse it, then not much i can do. But I CAN teach other new players about these mistakes in a video highlighting it. And I think you should consider that I do have a lot of new players watching this channel that regularly voice their appreciation for this advice 😊 if you think what I said in the video qualifies as toxic, then I think you've been very lucky! 😅
      Edit: also you saying "what is the point?"... It's a gameplay video showcasing my journey of doing mentor roulettes.... I say that at the start 😂

      @@KaguyaEne I do agree with many of your points but it seems the points you've made are indication of the issue with the system and not specifically the player. While the player still has a hand in the choices they make when playing the game it seems the system is still designed in a way that doesn't encourage these players to adapt and that's really the issue. This video seemed to focus on the issues the system created as though they were the players fault when they aren't and that's my issue. Blaming the wrong thing basically.

    • @raventhorX
      @raventhorX Před 12 dny

      @@CaetsuChaijiCh I believe it may be an issue of the presentation then. To me it almost feels like you are trying to call people out when doing a mentor roulette when the purpose of that roulette is to pair mentors with less experienced players and thus you can expect various issues to pop up due to the players inexperience. Calling them out for their refusal to listen and heed your advice however is definitely a different story and is an indication of their own toxic behavior. In the case where they do this blatantly I can't blame you for that, but if they just don't respond there might be another reason why this is the case. In my years playing FF I have encountered people who have this perception of FF that it's a single player game and because ffxiv was the newest out at the time there have been issues where players have played it as such. Another similar issue is those who might be playing on ps4 yet do not have a keyboard. The game does not support voice chat either nor explains that these players are playing with people not on ps4 which can make communication difficult. I have one such friend that if I wasn't currently educating him on these issues he would be like many of these players you are encountering in mentor roulette.
