I love your videos! Im not vegan, but I love trying out your recipes and checking out your tips! I was wondering if maybe you can make a video of actual stores and places you shop for food. I also live in NYC, and I’ve been very curious about that!
Hi Steph! So glad you like the videos. I just shop at Trader Joe’s and Whole Foods + the markets. Occasionally will go to whatever’s around me if there’s something I really need in the moment. Not sure a video would really be interesting or that I’d have enough to say about it besides that 🤣😬

i’ve only recently started shopping bulk sections, but only from the gravity bin dispensers! can’t count how many times i’ve witnessed people reach into the scoop bins with their bare hands ahh why are people so nasty lmao 😱💦 also i know specialty/processed foods and snacks are usually expensive and not necessary for my diet, but i can’t help but LOVE exploring for new vegan munchies at the grocery store anyway... it’s so exciting to see more and more brands expand into the realm of plant-based, makes me want to try everything! i saw oatmilk ice cream for the first time the other day and was like whaaat! 😮✨ brandless’ aesthetic is very much reminding me of MUJI, but at a much friendlier price point... awesome ☺️
AHH I know, there definitely needs to be more education on how to shop bulk properly. That, and contamination between two bins really bothers me--especially if you have allergies it could be very dangerous. I totally feel you on the snacks though!! I always tell myself it's not necessary, although part of my job IS trying all the new random stuff so it's hard to say no sometimes hahaha :)
I personally wouldn't consider blue majik spirulina or green powders to be staples if I"m being honest! They are more expensive because they make obtaining the nutrients they contain much more convenient, however a budget way to approach that would be to go for regular green spirulina (which is more nutritious too), and eating your greens. For vanilla bean, you can make your own extract (many recipes online, which may save you $). For specialty ingredients like this, your best bet is to purchase when on sale, or browse a store like Home Goods, which may be an unexpected place to purchase, but often has many health food items at discounted prices.
