Air France A220 gets Euro Biz RIGHT (Paris to Stockholm)

  • Join me as I wrap up my recent US trip with a very lovely flight onboard Air France’s A220 in Euro-business class. I’m pretty sure I’ve found the best possible version of Euro Biz out there (that’s economy seats with the middle blocked and an elevated soft product, standard across Europe.) Is this indeed the best Euro Biz out there, and what makes it so? I’ll show you the lounge at Paris CDG, boarding, taxi and takeoff, the light meal and champagne service, and give you the complete rundown. Cap it off with a pretty landing back in Sweden in the dying October light.
    Note: yes, Turkish Airlines mostly has a much better seat on regional flights and is technically based in Europe, but you can’t really fly around Europe with Turkish without going well out of your way, so they’re excluded from this comparison 🙂.

    Fantastic video as always, your commitment to excellent production quality doesn’t go unnoticed. I think you have the exact right balance of great visuals and narration, while also making the videos both informative but also relaxing to watch.

    Great review Gabe. So proud to be Canadian and see how popular Bombardier's plane is. Air France has been getting quite a few solid reviews, my last flight with them to Nice was one of the most peaceful flights I've ever had, very different to pax behaviour in N. America...

    Great videos Gabe. The zoom on that new iPhone is pretty epic. I don’t think I’ve flown the A220 recently-not sure if that is a product of flying Star Alliance or just chance. Anyways, this Sky Team set of videos has piqued my interest. Cheers! Btw, how often do you get asked by passengers or flight crew why you have a GoPro stuck to the window?

    Very nice video Gabe, did I see Wifi onboard? Is there IFE on any of the European carriers?

    • @Michael-ru3rt
      @Michael-ru3rt Před 4 měsíci +1

      I made a number of flights across Europe, mainly with KLM, Lufthansa, Swiss. They do not have IFE on their short and medium haul fleet with flight duration typically around 2 hours.

    • @airedition
      @airedition  Před 3 měsíci

      Thanks! Yes there was Wifi. Generally no IFE on the intra-Euros. Once in a while you get it via the Wifi on your own device.

    The A220-300 is a unique aircraft with a long list of special flight capabilities. It can do 7-hour transcontinental flights, it's a very powerful aircraft that can jump from airports with shorter runways, and has incredible operating economics to create "point-to-point thin route" markets that would be unprofitable if operated by other aircraft. Air France is publicly egging on Airbus to build the A220-500 to replace the A320neo (le Journal de l'Aviation), but Airbus is currently prioritizing production ramp-up (at 10 to 11 aircraft per month as of Jan. 2024).

    I have always liked the quality of Air France in flight service as long as the FAs are in a decent mood. Great video. Some of the edits of your vocals are a bit quick/truncated which is a little off putting. Otherwise fantastic quality video. Thank you!

      @airedition  Před 3 měsíci

      Thanks for the comment and I will take that into account! (And yeah it's true, as long as the FAs are in a good mood it's usually such great service, but not guaranteed)

    The A220 on AF is a very good hard product, for European standards at least. However the food is mediocre, imho. Especially on longer routes - like ATH - that exact same meal is served and that is insufficient in C. A single cold snack, even though usually of pretty good quality, is insufficient when you're 3,5 hours in the air. Their main competitor on the route, Aegean, does a full 3-course hot meal, and even LH group recognises the imbalance and offers hot food when travelling to ATH. Though LH of course only does this on routes where they have competition from an airline that also serves hot food (They absolutely offer the least that they can get away with).

    • @airedition
      @airedition  Před 4 měsíci

      Yeah that is an interesting point. There are airlines that only offer what they absolutely have to in order to compete, and then there are those who go above and beyond. Sadly I think mostly European customers have shown all they care about is price! Hence the race to the bottom in most cases. Clearly I need to try Aegean!

    How does the a220 compare to the e2 (e295) in window size and in passenger comfort and how does the window compare to the a350

    • @airedition
      @airedition  Před měsícem +1

      You can check out my video on the E2 and see what you think (czcams.com/video/BltnLIevZ7o/video.html). I'd say the A220 wins over E2 for passenger comfort because of being a bit roomier, but it's close, and the windows are quite a bit bigger than on the E2 (and there are more of them, the E2 has that long spacing between windows). A220 windows are quite a bit larger than A350 windows too!

    Hi Gabe from an Aussie viewer. Australia is now home to one of the worst airlines. Qantas (#42). So polically biased, so woke, so virtually signaling it makes a lot of travellers ill. Thank goodness for choice.
