Arcade1Up Pac-Mania Bandai Namco Legacy Edition Review! Is Pa-Mania Running Wild For $299? I took advantage of the $299 Pac-Mania Arcade1Up Bandai Namco Legacy Edition Boxing Day sale at Best Buy a few months back and after having spent a significant amount of time with the cabinet I wanted to share my thoughts on the cab itself and If you should consider picking this model up compared to Arcade1Up various other Pac-Man offerings.

I’ve gotten used to the crappy monitor on the MK 30th since the day I bought it, Even though I spent my hard earned money for it. It’s staying in my collection
I picked up the Pac-Man Plus for $200 last December from Sam's. I love the wood grain cabaret style, I just wish it had the global leaderboards.
It’s missing Junior PacMan too, not sure why they never released that one. Nice review 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
I picked this up for $299 as well, and at that price it was worth it, full price however? I don’t think so

Looks like a decent deal for 200 US. The screen issues aside not a bad cab, but I would wait for a deal on the new Deluxe myself, but for the right price its worth a look.
I would have gotten dig dug on that $299 sale at Walmart, if there was an easy screen upgrade. Might get the Class of 81 deluxe instead.

Great review Michael! I picked one up when it was on for $299. Cad as well. I really like the cabinet and game line up, and the online leaderboard makes it that much more fun. The screen is terrible but the price makes it tolerable.
Exactly man, for $299 I knew what I was getting and can live with it
I bought two of these back in December and I used paint and decals to turn the second one into a modded Donkey Kong arcade cabinet
Probably the same monitor as the MK. But since the screen is flipped vertically now the edge lit is from the bottom
That’s exactly my guess too.
I'm in the UK so we always have to pay an extra premium here, so I paid £299 sale price. TBH I absolutrly love it, it is the one and only cabinet I own but love the game selection and while I'd have preferred a better screen I find it does the job without much distraction. As an aside I've grown to absolutely love Pac & Pal which was a game I'd never played until this purchase, so underated that one.
I've got the Dig Dug version and I can't stand the screen.. bought specifically for that cabinet art and the game lineup which is great, love Galaga 88! I replaced the monitor with one of the Gen1 monitors and it's a big improvement. Wish BOE made a 5:4 ratio so I could replace it with that, but overall its a lot better now. Great video Mike!

Hey Michael, in your video you mentioned that your live button doesn't pause your game, and in order to go back to the games you have to hold P1 down. My Pacmania cab however does let me pause the game when I press the live button and if I press P1 after its paused it goes back to the game menu. Was this an update thing? Or is your cabinet not functioning properly in this aspect? I've heard of this happening on other cabs.

There’s a fine line between redesigning the og marquee and lazily throwing together the in game sprites and in game logo

I always struggle with devices like this. It feels like they are selling to an audience that "Can overlook the flaws" but most people interested I feel have been doing this better for ages by other means. I see a time where I might own one of these, but the screen quality and button quality hurts me a little.
I like the risers. If it wasn't for the monitor I would have bought Dig Dug.

I possess the Pac Man deluxe cabinet that i have bought from buy stuff store. I'm really happy with. The incline monitor make all the difference for me. I sold my class of 81 and my namco legacy.
I'm really wondering why arcade 1up still maintains same games and just release new look for their cabinets?
That’s the million dollar question. I assume it because the retailers are willing to buy them over and over again

But with my ALP and my two iiRcade and my atgames gamer pro my appetite for old school arcade classic games are satisfied. But....!!!! 🤣🤣🤣 i'm always hungry for new cabinets

Great review Michae B! The screen is terrible but the cab and game lineup is awesome. Some people will love it despite the screen and I hope those people aren’t persuaded not to get it by all the online opinions!
I wanna know about these cheaper pacman and mk cabinets that Walmart is selling for 250. Do they have stereo? Is the screen great? I have the 1st mk cab and I'm interested on the ones listed above. If the only difference is no online play I'll buy em.

Hey dude, I’m from the UK and the deluxe is just out of my price point at the moment and only available from Amazon (£500 on sale, £600 when it’s not). The pacmania cab is on sale here for £299, so would you say it’s worth getting for that? I can live with the other problems about this cabinet too cus well the games list is awesome, and I love that it’s themed around pacmania.

Well sadly it’s not entirely true. Even directly in front of the cabinet the black levels are poor. You no longer have the washout but the screen is still a little grey

All this we want arcade accurate. LCD isn’t accurate, online play and leaderboards are not accurate on all of these as well. If we want them accurate then let’s just source the real deal. :).
No, they DON'T have every Pac-Man game on this cabinet. Other than Ms. Pac-Man they are also missing Jr. Pac-Man, and Puc-One/Mazeman. With all of the Pac-Man cabinets Arcade 1Up has been puking out, you'd think they would have gotten these two games on those cabinets. But NNNNOOOOOO, just to piss me off they keep excluding those two games. Include those two games and watch these things fly off the shelves. But I guess Arcade 1Up is still allergic to money.
They’re also missing pac-man arrangement from Namco classic collection vol. 2, an arcade cab from the 90s. But with jr pac-man, Namco don’t own any rights to the game or character, sadly.
@@ReubensStuff NOT true. Back when Namco and AtGames were suing each other, it came out that Jr. Pac-Man was part of the Ms. Pac-Man license. So if Arcade 1Up can get the license to puke out more Ms. Pac-Man cabinets, they should be able to get the license for Jr. Pac-Man. I'm sick of Arcade 1Up and Arcade 1Up apologists crying "license" when people want them to put out a particular cabinet. If Arcade 1Up did a little research they'd probably find out that there's all kinds of cabinets they could put out if they wanted to.
@@andyauthor2007 dang, that’s actually kind of interesting. I wonder why Namco never rerelease Jr ever, even when they thought they had the license to Ms and the other midway/gcc games. (It’s not like they had it imported to Japanese stores in 2015, or anything proving the license shit can be bypassed in some ways. except they did, which makes it weird they never rerelease Jr.)
@@andyauthor2007 also, what is puc-one/maze man? Never heard about that one, and I even know some of the most obscure mobile and Japanese Pac-Man pc games so I’m kind of intruiged, and if I can find a rom wanna try it out in mame or something
@@ReubensStuff Puc-One is the same as Pac-Man, there's 240 dots, the ghosts are the same, there's 4 energizers, the fruits are the same in the same order, the intermissions are the same but the maze is completely different. Each dot is worth 20 points instead of 10, and each energizer is worth 80 points instead of 50. The fruits are also worth more (even the cherry) but I don't have a list of each point value of the fruits. Mazeman is kind of wonky, instead of Pac-Man, you have a little green frog, and the dots are little hearts but that game is set in the same maze as Puc-One and everything else is the same as Puc-One. If Namco has all of the licenses to their games that were manufactured by Midway, they would have licenses to both of these games. If they puked out another Pac-Man cabinet that included Puc-One, Mazeman, and Jr. Pac-Man it would fly of the shelves. Stores wouldn't be able to keep it in stock. But alas, Arcade 1Up is lazy and allergic to money.

I had this arcade and the screen isnt bad at all. Because it is vertical i think. Just too many pacman games.
