I'd still vote for Shula, Landry, and Reid as the top GOAT coaches, as these all made major innovations to the game, plus they won consistently with entirely different rosters for many years. Gibbs is close to these, though.
Second tier would be Bellichick, Lombardi, Paul Brown, Chuck Noll, and Bill Walsh, plus others, who were great coaches and made marked innovations to the game but only won with essentially one team and/or one QB (though we'll never know if Lombardi would have turned Washington around if he hadn't died of cancer.

What kind of stupid narrative is this? If anything Brady thrived under the Patriots organization and umbrella is because he had a complete TEAM on both offense and defense. Bucs weren't going to produce that type of system in the long term either. Not only that but Kraft ensured that Brady, Bellichick and company had all the right tools and weapons at their disposal. The term defense wins Championships ring a Bell? if i remember correctly those first 3 Championships vividly. Boy did they have a great defense that Parcells/Bellichick coaching tree is rooted in DEFENSIVE PROWESS! This guy really gives too much credit to QUARTERBACKS! This is why the league over pays and over rates most of the qbs today with their inflated salaries and underperforming stats and blowed up records. With a stout defense most qbs can thrive even the mediocre ones.

So hard to say, what coach is the GOAT! There have been tons! I mean, ONLY SHULA went undefeated! No, I don't think Shula is the GOAT, I'm just saying, it is too hard to pick 1! If 49ers win it all; where is Shanahan, his record is getting insanely positive! Reid is the best now, then Shanahan! Chuck Noll, ok see, I gotta stop, too many! 🤷🤔

80-93 without Brady. He got lucky, end of story. His legacy is tarnished

Don’t get too cocky Brady was on his way down after that hotshot Buccs team fell apart and he knew it when he retired.

I dont think Bill is a bad coach. I think he hasnt done well picking players. He hasnt done a good job of building a team. It was easy for Tom Brady to pick a ready made Tampa team with receivers and a good defense already there and win. Its a lot harder to get a franchise quarterback and build a good roster. That takes time. But I definitely think he should come off the GM position.

So you cannot win if you do not have a good qb. Thanks colin for that amazing analysis. Also i did not know that an owner who has 6 superbowls would be satisfied with less.

It has nothing to do with Tom being better than we though. Tom Brady is highly overrated and wouldn’t have won anything without the belichek system… it’s just the system is outdated and people have figured it out. He needs to lose his ego and adapt to the new nfl simple. The super bowls the result of bills system than anything else. Tom Brady is overrated period
