    Great video Joel! I appreciate you sharing your knowledge. This information will be very helpful for me. There's a few things that I need to get to help me polishing at the bench. Thanks again!

    Thank you so much, and happy birthday (soon). One Comment - so many example vids on the internet for aspiring jewelers demonstrate with big items/rings/settings/etc. Most of my customers want petite rings, any hints for when working with smaller items? Thanks again.

    Yes, I absolutely hate Red Rouge! I avoid it as much as possible ..good to hear about your alternative compounds…we use a few different things where I work…where I spend about 80% of my time at the bench, prepping cad cast custom rings for our stone setters. We have our standard methods but I’m always looking for other possibilities! Thanks for your excellent videos!

    Great session and lots of tips. Not too long at all.
    BTW - what is the blue polishing compound you use? Luxor Blur?

      Also... agree on the ultrasonic bath. Some folks don't appreciate how important it is... takes polish residue right off. Also, a good commercial bath cleaner is recommend. I've eeen comments 'just Dawn soap and water" - That doesn't do the job.

    How does the sanding paper works? the more the grit the smoother it is? And what grits of sanding paper would you recommend? Also which 3D printer did you use to print this ring and what resin/wax?

    • @JMDjewelry
      @JMDjewelry  Před 3 lety

      2m micro-abrasive sanding film. The higher the grit number the finer.www.stuller.com/products/10-11017/?groupId=190776&recommendationSource=SiteSearch

    What RPM do you work at when at the final 2 polishing stages?

      I really don't know. This is not that precise. I would say it mid-speed on my flex shaft but tend toward slower.

    is it not correct that one should wear a mask when using mizi and cretex wheels because of silica dust?

    • @JMDjewelry
      @JMDjewelry  Před 2 lety

      Its not a bad idea but they are too heavy to get airborne.

    So many brands have similar, but not identical color codes. What grit do your silicone wheels start at, please?
