Thanks for the diagram
Thanks for the info on the Grobet flex shaft. I'm getting into woodcarving and thought this might be a good quality, budget minded option and would appreciate your thoughts. Also, is the detent handle interchangeable with Foredom clone items? I liked that small QD handset you were using. Any info on it?
Hi, where do you get your stones from?
Where can I find New Jersey equipment
Do you have a link for the jig you mention?
Cool video! You may be interested in S M Z E U S!!!
Thank you very much!
Thanks that was a great idea, I will definitely try to do your suggestion 😊
What do you have to search to find your "ring slicer / matte box cutter"? No matter what I search I can't seem to find anything like that you're using
Wow you make some lovely jewellery 👋🙂
This works good when you have a bur that is the same size as the gem stone or the gem will wobble when you burnish.
retired jeweller here Joel . That is brave . Amethysts are among the worst for chipping . My beyond skillful diamond setter told me he would rather set emeralds than amethyst due to amethist's vulnerability
I’ve been learning to make jewelry in earnest for about 6-7 years now and I’m still moderately wigged out by just how little holds a lot of these stones in place- but you’ve demonstrated a method and construction I’d actually feel pretty confident in! I like the idea of moving the prongs sideways, it does make a lot more sense. Is there anything you’d change about the information presented here for pieces made in silver? I use Argentium which is a lot harder and springier than sterling, but still a very different beast from gold.
This is so helpful - Thank you!
Excellent idea!❤
Ottima spiegazione. Saluti dall'Italia
Thanks for sharing. I love your channel! Can you please write what the thickness of the prongs is? I'm trying to set 1.2mm stones.
when using cad its hard to get a prong smaller than .8 mm most are 1 mm
@@JMDjewelry Thank you so much.
Bravo, complimenti!
Ottimo
OMG THIS IS EXACTLY THE INFORMATION I WAS LOOKING FOR THANK YOUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU
Optivisors gave me horrible headaches. I got a set of CraftOptics with the “Dream Beam” attachment. They were a game changer.
No entendí ni v. pero se ve bien chingón. Nice Bro 👌👌👌
you place them with the finger?
I use beeswax
@@JMDjewelry noted! I have to replace about 100 1mm zircons for a watch
Hi I love your videos!!! Have question. Sometimes silver peas get red and even melt but solder won’t, got ruined stuff not once, maybe have some advice for me what I’m doing wrong, thank you, Vj
Why don't you put a hose clamp around it instead of tape
super helpfull!!
I also use a diy setting tip, shaped like a shoe and hammer on that all around the stone.
Thanks' for posting!Very informative!
Muchas gracias por compartir la bendición del Padre del Hijo y del Espíritu Santo estén en tu vida y todos los tuyos gracias buena tarde
Thank you so much for your detailed tutorial video❤
Good to see you posting again Joel!
Thanks for posting, Joel! The magnification helps a ton!
used to work in a dental lab many moons ago sculpting wax teeth for casting into gold. these days i CNC mill wax, then make rubber molds of the wax that accept liquid resin to make final plastic parts. unfortunately i've found getting a mirror finish on machinable wax is next to impossible. you can see why if you put it under a microscope. no matter what you do the surface retains small 'bumps'. to get around this i finally had to break down and spray paint the wax like you would a car then sand it down with various grits of sandpaper until i could finally polish it to a mirror finish. even so i found your pencil eraser trick very valuable for the early stages of smoothing the wax
Thanks once again
Awesome.
Great demo! Thanks for sharing.
Great tips! One of my first set stones was a stunning topaz. Unbeknownst to me it had a crack near a corner, and by squeezing the prongs diagonally, sure enough it shattered that corner! Plus it tends to want to flip and twist the stone too.
Thanks Joel, So appreciative of your amazing teaching 👍👍
Wow beautiful , setting job!! Thanks for Sharing!!!
Do you have an email address I can contact you at?
Now I understand! Many thanks.
Question please: did you make the ingot mould yourself?
I purchased it from Stuller
👏
Glad he is back! Question I always had, is your benchmate custom?
Yes it is.
When I use my alcohol borax flux solution I dip the ring I'm working on directly into the bottle. Then I use my pick and put my water borax flux paste on the solder joint. We do things very similarly. Nice work!
Nice to see you back doing videos
You need a rosebud tip for your smiths little torch it will melt your gold so much more easily
