Did you know you can rent a row boat and explore the Lake in Central Park? And it's not expensive?! Come explore the Lake with us and we'll show you the cave, the Bow Bridge, lots of turtles, and so much more! We'll also show you exactly where and how you can rent a row boat in Central Park next time you visit.

Row boats are first come, first serve. You can't reserve them ahead of time, and if you get there when it's busy, you'll have to wait in line. Remember to bring at least $40 in cash, since you have to leave a $20 cash deposit in addition to the $20 you pay for the first hour, and the rental ONLY ACCEPTS CASH.
As you can see in the video, renting a boat in Central Park is easy, safe, and fun for the whole family. It definitely helps if you know how to row (since you'll be able to see more - the Lake is really big!), but it's not necessary. A bunch of tourists are out there just floating around without going very far, and that's still a fantastic experience.
Aside from boating around the Lake, you can dock your boat and explore the land if you want. We docked at Hernshead to climb on the rocks and see some wildlife and at the Ramble Cave because that's fun, too. There are also several landings around the Lake with covered benches if you want to dock and take a break in the shade for a bit.
Ask us any questions you have about the row boat rental or literally anything about Central Park. We're happy to help!

OMG- Can't believe how big your son is. The first video I saw of you was your Athens VLOG. Looks like you had some fun out there on the lake.

Yes, @Kelsey, you and Pete have been around since before Kai was born! How crazy is that? He's already 4 and a half! Time goes by so quickly.

He LOVES the beach! We definitely need to bring him to San Diego. He'd love La Jolla Cove, too. And Balboa Park and the zoo. So much to see and do in SD!

@@PerfectLittlePlanet As a 30 year native, might I recommend Coronado beach as a beach choice as well as the Zoo’s Safari Park (our very own “Disney’s Animal Kingdom”)

Very nice to finally see Kai in one of your videos (at least the ones I’ve seen…)

Yeah, we made a conscious choice to keep his face out of videos until he can choose for himself if he wants to be in them. You'll notice most of this video is the side or back of his head. We thought this would be a fun memory for him to look back on, so I decided to not edit him out of this one.

New York is very different from Dubai, but I think you'd like it. So much to do and see and LOTS of great food to eat. :)

Unfortunately by the end of this summer that boathouse is closing permanently

I don't buy it. That building and location is too iconic to lose. Some billionaire will step forward and take care of it, just like they did the Tavern in the Green when it "closed permanently" in 2009. It was closed for 4 years, but it reopened again under new owners and is still open today.
