- It’s never too late to post… Swiftsure 2017 was a hit. Come along for a summary of a 33 hour adventure of sailing, drone flying, nap taking in the strait of Juan de Fuca… If you don’t sail, we hope it’ll give you a view into why we love it so much--and if you do sail--well maybe you can spot your boat and/or relive some good memories. Real action starts at 7 mins in...
A 1993 40.5 Hunter Legend, she’s certainly not even close to being the fastest but she’s never afraid to go rumble with the big guys. What she lacks in speed, she gives in spirit, and in stride.
Our course, one of four long races, is a 101.9nm stretch on the waters of the strait of Juan de Fuca between Victoria, BC and Neah Bay on the Washington coast at the Pacific Ocean.
It took us one day and 9 hours to finish, including an 8 hour anchor lull. We placed 5th in our class with smiles all around. Big thanks to Alec (17), Antoni, Antoine, Eric and Shannon for joining in the adventure.
If you can spot our mistakes and are interested in crewing on Pardon My French, shoot us a mail to svpardonmyfrench@gmail.com - will get in touch if we have available spots for upcoming races.
Hope you enjoy the ride; if you so like and share!

Great video! Miss the Swiftsure, late 70's early 80's we would get 400+ boats for the Swiftsure. Made for a wild rafting party the night before.
This makes me rethink every race start I have had in little Kailua Kona, Hawaii.....
But it’s Kailua Kona .... I am fan ;)
great video. It brought back memories of 2016 Swiftsure for me. :)
Thank you Andie. Glad you liked it. Hope you're getting on the water for this year's edition.
Nicely documented, it's gives a realistic feel for what that race can be like.
thank you!
17:10 Look at that wake! :) :)
bel hommage à la régate ,continuez ,mes petits cousins d'amérique,et votre vidéo est superbe
Merci!
Nice to see Northwest based sailing documented here on your channel.
Thank you John - PNW is a fertile ground for sailing
Super video. Looks like it was a fantastic experience for all. A big like and subscribe!
Thank you Patrick, love your channel and videos too! When's the next big trip?
Thanks PMF. Very kind of you. I'd love to do some sailing in the Pacific Northwest. I got a key message from your video: "Don't miscalculate the tide!" Wow. Against all advice of friends, next Spring I intend to head up the North Sea to Norway. I may shoot a couple of videos along the way if the opportunity presents itself. Looking forward to more videos from you guys as well. I really enjoyed the Swiftsure clip. Best regards
More will be coming... Norway sounds stunning... Look me up if you come by these parts... Tides here require a bit of practice but when timed well they push you nicely... when timed well only ;-) ...
Looks like that Rocna held nicely.
It did. was hard to weigh -- Love the rocna...
Awesome video and congrats on the 5th place finish. I would love to join a crew sometime for a race.
Music made it unwatchable
Hi Isaac. I am sorry that the music did work for you. some of the new videos feature less and some no music. I appreciate your taking the time for leave the feedback!
