  • DON'T PAY #FORD TO DO THIS!! You can do this! It is so easy to replace your in cabin air filter in your Ford F-150. My dealer wanted to charge me $60 plus tax to do this. I did it myself in 10 minutes and spent $11 on the air filter. You can do this. #FordF150 #Trucks #HowTo #Easy #FordTrucks

    if you can replace it yourself always do. As a dealership technician i can tell you the price of the cabin filter is way overpriced, $60 to $90 depending on the dealership. You can usually get the cabin filter at walmart, autozone, oreilly's etc for $30 to $45. Most of them are extremely easy to do and will take no time at all to do.

      @@mitchcox no doubt I totally agree. I remember it use to be cost effective to change your own oil and filter but with the high cost of oil these days it really isn't worth the few dollars you save doing it yourself. I been changing my own oil for 40 years but today it's not worth the 10 bucks I save doing it myself. Clean up, getting rid the old oil and filter etc just ain't worth the small savings. I bring it to Ford and the other plus is it generates maintenance records.

    If there are exhaust fumes inside your car you have a huge problem and everyone inside would pass out and die! It just filters dust and pollen and allergens and keeps your HVAC evaporator coils clean!

    • @mitchcox
      @mitchcox  Před 4 lety

      Not exhaust fumes from your vehicle but from all the outside vehicles. Any air that you breath inside the cabin comes from outside the vehicle. So Yes. It does help filter out exhaust fumes from other vehicles not your vehicle because your exhaust is coming out near the rear of the vehicle.

    • @koreymayo8884
      @koreymayo8884 Před 4 lety

      Just switch your HVAC to recirculated air if you are worried about outside fumes and pollution.

    • @mitchcox
      @mitchcox  Před 4 lety

      Even on recirculating, it brings in some fresh air from outside to keep the inside air from getting stale. So the cabin air filter still helps here. When not using the recirculating button, it brings in much more fresh air from outside. I recommend to use the recirculating setting when using the AC and not use it when using the heater.

    $30 for a filter, and $30 for less than a half hour labor is completely fair.
    I mean I understand doing it yourself is cheaper but that’s about an average cost for replacing a cabin filter.
    Our current labor rate is $105/hr. But we also don’t charge extra labor for filters that are fairly easy to access.
