  • Vanlife adventures in Scotland. This week we take Daisy Ducato to the seaside town of Arbroath where we learn all about the Bell Rock lighthouse when we visit the Signal Tower museum.
Arbroath Abbey is our next port of call, a stunning ruin with one of the best graveyards we've EVER visited.
And while we're visiting Arbroath, Storm Isha comes to visit us, resulting in an impromptu shower and much hilarity (albeith with a VERY scary drive home later).
Oh, and Honour DeNiro meets Honour Sapphire, a kennel compatriot from his racing days
A huge thank you to everyone who's supported our wee channel so far, if you'd like to help support our wee adventures you can do it through through our Ko-Fi or Patreon.
All our videos are hand made from 100% organic ingredients ;). Our content is mostly filmed on a GoPro 11 with a Rode fluffy microphone to keep the wind noise down, with occasional bits on an iPhone13. We also use a DJI Mini 3 drone which we're loving getting to grips with.
We make our own music using GarageBand and the videos are edited in iMovie.
If you'd like to buy DeNiro a biscuit (and he's a good boy, honest) you can via our Ko-Fi link at www.ko-fi.com/ScotlandOnAShoes....
If you'd like to become a patron of our wee channel we also have a patreon at / scotlandonashoestring
We also have an Etsy shop where we sell some of our hand made items. It's at dandbbythesea.etsy.com

I was really intrigued by that 1674 tomb and, being a library type, had to find out more. You probably already found this out yourselves but just in case you didn't, it is the Philp Monument. The coats of arms are for James Philp II of Almerieclose House, and his spouse, Margaret Graham. They married in 1653 and had 3 sons, one of whom wrote an epic poem called The Grameid. I found a drawing online of what the tomb looked like originally but unfortunately can't share it here. Hope I haven't bored anyone.

Relaxing watching the ocean splash over the jetty's and barriers. Funny how you thought that other greyhound was DeNiro. 🤭 Lots of good content, enjoyed very much.

Another awesome video. It was good to see DeNiro in his element interacting with other greyhounds. The black and white pup looked like was a female. Did the wave get you?
Yes, you all have been getting a lot of storms. It can be a little scary driving in a storm, especially at night. We in SoCal are getting another storm. Last week the rainstorm we had dropped 3.5” of rain. This storm is suppose to be worst. Batten down the hatches 😮 Take care…

Ooo a crochet Unicorn!! Your next project Bex 😉 The twirly bits are easy, I do similar for octopus - just do 2 or 3 st in each st of a chain and it'll curl by itself. My Dad was based in Arbroath when he was in the Fleet Air Arm. I don't envy you that journey in the storm! Geez scary bananas!!

I found out by some research about my Grt Grandpa James. He was born in Scotland and was trained by a Master Mason in his early teenage years. His work took him all over Scotland. He immigrated to the USA settling in San Francisco. I am enjoying going along with you on your adventures. I like charity shops a great deal.

charity shops hold treasures as well as not so items. I read a great deal so finding a book for10 cents US or a lil more rather than 25.99 to me is worth the hunt. I used to buy thread as my Grandmother tatted . Today my youngest daughter crochets dog n cat sweaters. @@scotlandonashoestring

What is the camper van situation like in general in Scotland? Is it hard to find legal places to park overnight? Or are they reasonably common?

    • @scotlandonashoestring
      @scotlandonashoestring  Před 5 měsíci +1

It’s generally not too bad. Out in the sticks no one minds and most cities have somewhere or other that campers are tolerated. We use an app called Park4Night and it usually turns up somewhere nearby.

Shanks of lawnmower fame gave rise to the phrase Shank's Pony - lawnmowers were previously driven by ponies wearing big overshoes, or flocks of sheep...
The garden labourers disliked the hardwork caused by pushmowers LOL 😂!
