Wise Bank fees just went up. They are joining the never ending inflation spiral. Be sure guys to assess your financial condition before you leave.
Take courage to tell your story. But, Honestly its good to hear. There are so many of us that feel or have felt exactly the same.
Thank you!
Thanks for sharing your path. It is appreciated.
We have similar experiences. I think American marriage is the worst proposition for men. They didn't tell me that my wife and a legal system had a profit motive to ruin my marriage. Spreading the word is a Worthy mission.
I think unfortunately many men can relate.
It's not much better in South Korea or Japan or many other countries.
gracias gio
This video speaks to me. Thank you
I think a lot of guys can unfortunately relate.
Similar situation. I’m 36. Went through a divorce last year. It ruined me. She got the new truck we put 20k down. During the divorce she left my state 3 months after buying a house that I couldn’t afford by myself and couldn’t sell. Won’t let me speak to the kids even though I have 50/50. Ruined my American credit, ruined my VA home loan, she gets 33% of my VA Benefits. I’m 100% service connected and don’t have the ability to work. American women are ruthless. I honestly have no other option at this point other than try another country with a lower cost of living. America is depressing. I lived in Merida Mexico a couple years ago. So I have some experience being in another country.
We get screwed every time, luckily my kids are now bigger and can freely communicate with them and have rebuilt our relationship.
@@GiointhePhilippines That’s great. Mine are still young so I have time to rebuild. Losing them is the hardest thing.
I can relate.
As a European its insane how ruthless the divorces are over there, cant believe you even dare to marry in the states.
great vlog Gio! Went through a divorce 14-years ago, been in a relationship for nearly 10-years and she's leaving me. Maybe this the push I need to go back to the Philippines. I was there in Angles City (Clark Air Base-USAF) from 1986-1990, and loved it there.
Good for you. Reinvented yourself, escaped the matrix.
Love your videos.
Yes! Thank you!
I met my Filipina girlfriend in the U.S. about 2 years after my divorce. I was mid 30s at that point. That was 15 years ago and I’m now early 50s. Before I met her she had already purchased a 5 hectare farm with her family (she has her own title for 1/2 of it). Since then she has purchased a couple of commercial properties (she had a building put on one of the properties that is now being rented) and she purchased a lot in a nice gated community where we’re going to build our house. We had often talked about retiring in the Philippines over the years or at least spending 6 months here/6 months there, but during the pandemic we decided (mostly me) that we were going to retire in the next 5 years and move there full time. Unfortunately, we are now having to move from California to North Carolina for work which is going to delay our retirement by 2-3 years 😢. Looking back I should have pushed for early retirement earlier. That way we could be retiring there now instead of moving to NC.
Great video Gio, you have talked about this before but not the full story. You have helped many people with this information
I appreciate that!
Thanks Gio for sharing your backstory - rough and heartbreaking w the forced separation from your kids- so glad that relationship has been restored. I have been there w 5 kids- but in shared custody at least. Took half my $ but now she is broke of course. Ive recovered and fine. Now, as you, good relationship w all but now adults they realize what their mom did to their childhood creating the instability and leaving against my will; so cant say they have much respect for her. As adults they understand but too bad they had to go through it. So I relate and am really happy for you that after all the pain and work it all panned out good! Planning on following your lead - a bit older; now that I can retire from the HW. Thanks for all your videos over the years and sharing such personal stuff. We appreciate you. John
Thank you!
Thanks for sharing. At least for me I can relate. Yes, I do like the walking and talking and seeing something behind you rather than still images or something like that.
Thanks for sharing!!
I can relate.
I like the the maps to show orientation.
Gio, another great video in which you shared with us the raw series of events you went through in the US before checking out completely and embarking on your SE Asia journey and which ultimately led you to settle in the Philippines. Rarely vloggers reveal as .much and they usually skip over the painful parts and focus mostly on the better aspects. To me, your sharing is priceless in do many ways. Mille grazie Gio!
Thank you so much!
Like the walk and talks!
I am ready
I'm glad to hear that you now have a good relationship with your sons.
Thank you, it took a while but we are good now.
Your story is both a cautionary tale (avoid getting onto the hamster wheel) and inspirational because when you work really hard and stick with a goal, your life will change for the better
It's not a hamster wheel if you allow it to be. Work is necessary
Ya work is necessary, but not at the cost of having to work 2-3 jobs just to put a roof and food on the table. It's a hamster wheel at best because everybody I so caught up on having material belonging trying to have the latest and greatest crap.
Absolutely love your video. I completely relate to you. My ex experience, my job, my age, the thoughts of living abroad, the thought of me continuing to keep this same life. Sometimes things in life line up and start to make sense. After watching many of your videos and this one just cemented my opinion and mindset on what my future is. Thank you for being so honest and helpful. It's obvious to anyone that watches your videos know you are being transparent and honest.
I filed paperwork to see my kids every week for 3 months. Never abuse physical or mental. Couldn't get visiting rights. Cried all the time. Didn't know what to do. Finally I got the answer and slowly got my rights back. The only problem is my kids were so young and impressionable that when I was finally able to get rights to see them legally through the courts our relationship changed. They looked at me different and our relationship changed because their mom talked bad about me. Worse feeling in the world if you are truly a good parent trying to raise your children the correct way. Anyone out there reading this don't give up. If you want what is best for your kids please keep the hope and pray. My situation isn't great, but I know God is great and will make this situation better.
Thank you for sharing your situation. It was similar to mine. I now have a really great relationship with them.
Tks for sharing, personally I was divorced twice, hey man life goes on. Good luck and be happy enjoy your new life..
Thanks, you too!
Inspirational life stories, Gio. Glad u pull thru and now u r enjoying d fruits of ur labour . Thank God u were able to reunite with ur son despite d hiccups n obstacles. Perseverance pays. God bless❤🎉🎉🎉❤❤
Thank you!
Great advice!
PAY YOUR DEBT AS SOON AS YOU CAN and be FINANCIALLY INDEPENDENT
Absolutely!!
New subscriber here! Gio, I have been watching your videos from time to time, and realize just how fast that hamster wheel spins! Considered the Philippines as a "young" 70 year old man, but switched to an LDR with a woman near Hong Kong! She is 60 years old, divorced, but looks like 45, has a great personality, and is looking to remarry! Best regards to your life in the PI, and hope you and Maya are doing well! 😊
Thank you so much!!
Question. If I have the right VPN, can I get HULU or DISNEY Plus in the Philippines?
I love the new walk and talk formats as well as your story and thoughts on so many things Gio. Thanks.
Thank you
Great video but one question. How did you create a passive income ? From what ?
I'll make a video on it.
@@GiointhePhilippines Ok thanks, good idea. Interested to watch it
Gio, I completely understand. Your story really hits home with me.
Maybe someday we our paths will cross. Our home is in Koronadal, Mindanao. I prefer to stay away from the expat areas. lol.
One question....Where's my PIZZA? lol
God bless!
Thank you :-)
Thanks Gio for sharing how you provided for yourself before coming and living in the Philippines. I especially appreciate you sharing how you are financially surviving in the Philippines. Wish you could have shared more about your passive income sources. I am an accountant so knowing how you are doing it helps me better appreciate your situation. Salamat
My pleasure!!
What was the source of resudual income if not CZcams? Investments?
military disability, a few investments and my website brings in some passive income. Passive only accounts for about 30%
Same place as u. Did two visits to Philippines. I’m selling things to move to Philippines. I still have my job but I can’t concentrate and am just not in it anymore
I can relate, just couldn't concentrate anymore.
Went to the T-Mobile store talked to the manager ask for Global Plus Pass. $50.00 a month and you keep your American cellphone number till you pass away and service
Thank you, I will be doing that.
Sounds good I'm going to do the same
@@GiointhePhilippines Gio if you need a US number get a skype number instead its only $50 and its every year. Most likely i won't keep a US number i'll use emails for codes and use whatsapp or messenger to talk to family home. Do not get the etra cost just to have it if you do not need it
@amigo2k10 make sure you talk to a manager ask for the global pass
@@GiointhePhilippines talk to a manager and ask for Global pass
GIO Question, how hard is it to make CZcams videos? I dont want to be a blogger, but when I get over there I want to make Videos for my Family, I have a very BIG famliy. If I made one video a day and there could see it on CZcams privately, it would be easy for me. Never did it before!!!
You can do it! It isn't hard, plenty of tutorials. I recommend Filmora.
Wow that horrible to hear that about being cut off i hope i don't go thru that it only make the courts and lawyers rich
American men come of short in family court. No visitation or joint custody. Same old story.
Unfortunately, that's always the case!
I have 50/50 and still can’t see my kids. She decided to go to Florida from michigan, 1300 miles away. I can’t enforce anything. To fine her would be to take my daughter’s child support. To lock her up would be bad because I am disabled. It’s a no win situation.
The courts are stacked against us!
Yea my brother got swindled by a couple of bar flies, he picked some losers.
Love it brotha! It was nice to see you in Vietnam! Hopefully we can meet again one day!
Most definitely!
The hamster wheel of American lifestyle that's wobbly at best. No amount of oil will fix the squeaking
thanks for sharing your story. many points align with my own story.
You're very welcome
Gio, find that girl in the intro and make an interview with her
Not going to happen, that girl was in a festival in Davao. I filmed that in 2019
@@GiointhePhilippines haha
But that would be cool!
What did you invest in for the passive income?
This is the question. How do you go from "paying off debt" and getting a teaching job in the Philippines and within 2.5 years being able to "retire" with passive income. Seems like something is missing
CZcams pays them well dude!
I said some passive income plus my CZcams and a few other sources. I don't have 100% passive income. Maybe about 30% passive.
@@brettpower6508 I understand that, but he separated the 2. He said passive income and the money he makes from CZcams. I’m not judging him, legitimately curious as this is the dream
CZcams is hit or miss, not a reliable source of income.
Good that you moved to the PH, Gio. The situation in the US has only become worse. People are loaded in debt and working multiple jobs and still not able to make ends meet. Plus the increased violence, immigrants overflood, etc.
Agree 100%, the question every single person has to ask themselves, why do you work? Are you working to pay for the basics, or are you working to pay off those credit cards? That's why I made the decision to give up my job, and selling my house next month so I can begin my move to PH. I just can't see myself working anymore.
There is no other country that I know of that values work over quality of life the way it is in the US. Anyone who wants to keep working when he doesn’t have to has his priorities in the wrong order. Life is supposed to be enjoyed!
Work to Live, not Live to Work!
@@GBU61you Americans have it so easy when it comes to making money and investing opportunities. Many citizens of other countries would be jealous. Look at Filipinos whom many work to live day by day.
Gio you got it right. Get a job in PI. Only real way. Why was your x so angry. You seem very centred
Thanks for making a content about my loving city bro dumaguete. The city of gentle people
My pleasure 😊
There are wheels with hamsters on them.
I’m too scared to make the move. I’m 47 and make $150k as an RN with the VA and my Filipina wife makes $50k as an lpn at a skill nursing home. We both at times have faced burn out from nursing but I can’t duplicate this income in the Philippines. I can work online as a nurse but I can’t figure out how to do it overseas as the various companies have you use their routers so they know where I’m at. The concern is accessing patient record in a foreign country especially if I was to work remotely for the VA.
Your content is always great
Sounds like we have a lot in common. I got out of the army and was basically handed divorce papers, my ex had my kids but I took her back to court and the State deemed her an unfit mother. I then moved to Minnesota from Maine and raise my three kids on my own. During this time I finally received my 100% disability from the VA caused by a very bad jump I had a Ft Bragg where i smashed three vertebrate in my lower back among other injuries during my 10 plus years in. Now my kids are grown and I am looking to open a new chapter of my life most likely in a few more years I will be heading to the PH or another SE Asian country.
Sorry to hear about that, my kids were a missing part of my life and I am so relieved and happy they are back in my life.
Hi Gio is being an English h teacher for an american still possable there I'm 35 and have a pretty significant savings to relocate and get settled in?
Well, I was an English advisor to the school not technically a teacher. But there are a few jobs here and there but hard to come by. I came with 10k savings but I would recommend at least 20k.
If you're moving abroad when you're younger make sure you have online work all setup so you're income is steady. Worst thing to do is leave too early and get to another country and sit around and do nothing during the work prime years
I feel like I'm going down that road
Hopefully not!
Gio, been following for a while and had to say something. Your music at the end of the video is just so disproportionately loud compared to your videos. Many times I’m listening with headphones and at the end of every video it’s just blasting between each video and it’s quite long. I am SURE some other regular viewers have got to notice this too. Anyways thanks for the videos!
Noted thank you.
Yeah- walk and talk format a winner
How was Dumaguete Gio and Sibulan? I'll be home next month. Can't wait see Duma. Keep updating us there....Thanks.
You got it!
Not sure if you were aware, but the mic cut out a couple of times.
Yea, I noticed while editing
The hamster wheel is a tough thing to get off of. My advice is if you get off of it don’t look back. The grass isn’t always greener on the other side.
Hello there,
How are you, and your loved ones?
Do you happen to know the following please:
Where can a Filipina travel to with her own passport?
What is the criteria for a Filipina to travel abroad?
How long can a Filipina stay out of the Philippines?
How much is a passport in the Philippines?
Thank you.
Repent and move out from USA asap. USA is doomed to suffer now.
