I've never been a fan of them at all but the singles for this album got me very excited. Looking forward to giving this a listen
Hell yeah! I was kind of the same, aside from Upon Loss that really kind of got me hooked. What do you think of the record now that you've had a bit of time to sit with it?
This past week is the first I've heard of and listened to Knocked Loose. This album absolutely blew me away and I can't stop listening to it. I just looked up their tour dates and realized they were in my hometown 10 days ago... and I missed them. Great review. Thank you.
Ahhhh I hate that feeling! I am sure that they'll come through again - plus the next time they roll through you'll be nice and prepared haha - I love doing that though, going back through and listening to everything before the show especially when it's the first time that you've seen them and they're an entirely new band. Hell yeah man! I can't wait either, I ordered the swamp smash LP the second that it went online when the album was announced. I saw on the PN store that it looks like a great variant too - they always make sure that the vinyl looks absolutely killer with their releases! Excited for you to hear it too :)

I bet man! Weirdly I hadn't really thought that there were that many similarities when I first started listening but then the percussion on here is totally what reminded me of Slipknot. I really do think that they will be able to do just as great in huge arenas as they will in smaller venues. I'm really excited for this band now!

Oh man, I would love to see these guys indoors now. I did see them play Bloodstock last year and they were cool but I can imagine that their show is just another level when it's indoors you know? Thanks for checking the video out!

took me long time to really get into them but during covid I listened to their EP " a tear in the fabric of life" and everything's changed, incredible band.
Couldn't agree more! It took me even LONGER to get them. I tried with Fabric of life but it wasn't until I heard Upon Loss that I really got into them and now there's no looking back haha! Thanks for checking out the review!
@HotelHobbies I had the same reaction at first, but by my third listen the the entire album, everything totally clicked for me. Now I cannot stop listening to this album. It also helps to listen through headphones. Also, read the lyrics as you listed. Just a brutal albume, and yet there are heavy hooks.

The reggae breakdown on Suffocate is infectious, the breakdown on The Calm That Keeps You Awake is ridiculous. It's a monster of a record

Find it extremely hard to get into this band due to the vocals but will give it another go after this review.
From my own experience and friends, we all agreed it starts out this way… and then becomes addicting to hear

I can imagine that this is like getting the equivalent to a Star in Mario on your runs and will just keep you going all over the hills and mountains galore. All in 27 minutes haha! I think that;s the key to this album is that it's incredibly intense but it's short and sweet you know? So it keeps you coming back for more! I saw Knocked Loose live here in Thunder Bay as a supporting band, for I want to say the Black Dahlia Murder in 2018. I had a hard time getting into them because of the vocals, and the "noise for the sake of noise" of their sound. The snippets from the new album that you show don't really seem to change my feelings on Knocked Loose, but I'll give the album an honest listen. I know you weren't a fan of the latest My Dying Bride, but I have another death/doom suggestion that totally blew me away. Check out fellow UK gothic doomers, My Silent Wake's album Lost in Memories, Lost in Grief, particularly the song When You Look Back. Also, as I'm sure you know, Steve Albini passed away :(. I'm curious if you've listened to Shellac, and if you have any favourite albums that he produced. For me, In Utero (Nirvana), and Success (KEN Mode) immediately jump to mind.
No way! That is a really cool crossover if it was KL and TBDM and would definitely make sense. That's fair enough though the it might not change your opinion on them. I've not listened to Shellac but I know that it was Steve Albini that was in them. I'll have to give it a spin!
Whats wrong with breakdowns, Tris?
Hahaha I'm SO picky with breakdowns. For me it's more that they can often derail the song completely and that was what I thought KL was for a while. I've been trying to listen to them for quite some time since around Laugh Tracks really but then just didn't quite resonate with me until Upon Loss and I thought OK, there's a bit more going on here - now I am really intrigued. When it's done well, like the breakdowns on this record - I love em! haha
I love the album. But the album production is kinda less than I know it's the bands trademark.
Oh really? I thought that the production was really cool! A bit different to the usual kind of thing that I normally gravitate towards as well but it's just outstanding
