Homemade Mayonnaise
Blend together:
2 eggs
2 Tbsp. lemon juice
1/2 tsp. ground mustard
1/4 tsp. salt
Using an immersion blender, add 2 cups olive oil in a slow, steady stream while blending. Keeps in refrigerator about two weeks.
1/8 tsp. black pepper

I add boiled eggs in my potato salad
The original recipe actually calls for boiled eggs, but the family prefers it without, so I omitted it this time. (I do like it with the boiled eggs though.) :)
@@ozarkfamilyhomestead and this is why I am divorced LOL. I go by the rule I am making the potato salad so I will make it how I like it!!! I am mostly kidding. But I do think as a compromise. I would slice up hard, boiled eggs and put them on top so the people who like,them can still have them and the egg haters can ignore them. 🥚🥔😋

Love boiled eggs in potato salad.
I make my potato salad easy and serve hot.
Potatoes
Mayo
Mustard
Boiled eggs
Dill pickles
Onion
Salt and pepper with just a pinch of garlic salt(barely)
Paprika barely sprinkled on top is optional if you decorate with eggs on top too.
Mix all together and delicious. Yummy 😊now I am hungry 😂

Janice, have you ever thought of do I ng a cook book with the girls? They have cookbook kits for fundraising. Not just of every day recipes but canning, preserving, glass eggs, etc, recipes for kids, common sense tips, etc? Would love more of a se lf sustainable farm life, prepping cookbook.
I would love to do something like that, Kathie, but I need more time! One of these days I'll get to all the projects that I'd love to tackle! :)
I leave onion out of anything I make for guest to eat just in case they dont like onion. I know younger ones can be picky. Everything looks so good! David is blessed to have so many that love him.

I have diabetes 2 and I learned recently that potatoe salad is okej to eat evan with diabetes because when you chill the potatoes they dont put a spike on your blood sugar. And I tested my sugarlevels after I been eating potatoesalad and it is true. All starch like rice, potatoes and pasta looses something when it is chilled and dont cause a spike on the blood sugar. That is fantastic I think :) It is really good to put apple in potatoe salad it makes it really fresh :)

We say food food or “real” food, before “junk” food, but we believe there’s room for all kinds of food, in a healthy diet, we just encourage fruits & veggies before treats. My grandma gave me a copy of the Better Homes Cookbook & the Betty Crocker cookbook, when I got married, 30 years ago. Both are excellent!

Janice, have you tried apple cider vinegar with warm water. I use a straw to protect my enamel . It helps me, for I have allergies. I got a list of them. One is to avoid being around the woods when it it wet. I love being outdoors. I am determined to walk to reach a mile every day. My driveway is what I am measuring.
I think I do need to try out the lemon, honey, and apple cider vinegar to help my throat. I'm still not 100% back to normal and I'm tired of sounding croaky all the time! :)
Mayo mustard sweet pickle onion celery boiled egg...in potato salad or macaroni salad..you won't be sorry...

I know!!! I have it in our donate pile but I haven't actually taken it to donate yet. I've used the same chair with all 7 children and it's hard to let go of the things we've used for so long! :)

My Grandson turns 13 on June 20th my daughter and I where so excited to give him a little family party then he burst of bubbles telling us he didn't want anything just his steak dinner I make him every year for his birthday. When I was married, I always made my own mayo I saved a fortune because we went through it at an unbelievable rate. Or should I say my ex went through it at an unbelievable rate. I know it’s healthier for you, but I have never liked the taste of the olive oil mayo , so I just made it with canola oil. Seriously everybody get yourself an immersion blender that can make mayo and you will not believe how much money you will save.
Yeah, the olive oil can be a little strong tasting, so you're definitely not alone in preferring a different kind of oil. I think we've gotten used to the olive oil now, so it's normal for us. :)

I'm glad that David had a wonderful prep day before his birthday! On another note, I only spent a $113 for my two week trip to my local Aldi. Found a lot of great deals and spent my allotment on selection of cheeses from Europe and Australia.

Looks like David was blessed with some really good eats for his birthday and I'm sure with amazing time with family and friends. The potato salad looks so delicious! I would probably fight Sarah for it. Haha! I watched you make mayonnaise in another video and I wanted to tell you that I used to make mayonnaise with the same recipe and a similar immersion blender. However, you don't have to slowly drizzle the oil in when using that type of blender. Just put it all into the tall container and put the blender in the bottom then turn it on and slowly lift it up. It's like magic and the mayonnaise is done in seconds. I hope you'll give it a try sometime. Also, I know you're such an experienced Hostess but I always think the toppings coming right after the hot dogs and hamburgers slows everything down so very much. They almost need their own station away from everything else so that people can continue making their plates. It is hard to find a perfect setup for the flow though. I'm sure no one suffered from having to wait. Thanks for sharing.
Looked like a super yummy party!! I love that cookbook my mom got hers when she got married in 1969 and I found the exact same version at an antique store so I have a copy too! I also use the coleslaw recipe from there and pie dough! Mmm potato salad I love hard boiled eggs in mine! I saw in another comment folks in your family don’t like it that way!
