  • The NFP alliance on the left became the largest force in the French parliament, but did not secure an absolute majority in a surprising outcome that saw the far-right National Rally (RN) drop to third place.
The NFP won 182 seats in the 577-seat parliament. President Emmanuel Macron’s centrist alliance won 163 seats, and the RN won 143 seats.
Former Conservative special adviser Charlie Rowley joins Talk’s Julia Hartley-Brewer to discuss this further.

Name some democratic nations which aren't divided to a greater or lesser degree. People seem to be dissatisfied everywhere. I sometimes wonder how successful the Russians and and Chinese have been in creating such widespread dissatisfaction. I think a lot of people need to get a grip. If it were only the poor I'd understand their motivation, but when well-off people are dissatisfied, one wonders.

Then we, which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air, and so shall we ever be with the Lord" (1 Thes. 4:16).
