- While I come to terms with my daughter's arrival in a few weeks, the race is on to finish all that needs to be done to prepare for her arrival. Her grandmother bought us the Baby Trend Expedition Premiere Jogger Travel System from Babies R Us. In this dad vlog I install the car seat using the Flex-Loc system in the backseat of my 2013 Kia Soul.
Here i am in the hospital about to be discharged watching another dad struggling with this stupid thing. Welcome to fatherhood my fellow dads

helping my wife give birth was easier than installing this. . set it to max height setting on the grey adjustable section, jam your knee in the fing thing on top of that grey section (there's a groove for your knee) putting all your weight on it and pull on the strap with all your might, no holding back.

Similarly I had never thought about having kids, I actually had very different plans for my life but shit happens and here we are. I’m preggo and due in 3 weeks. We have the same car seat and the instructions were so ambiguous I thought I must be stupid because I couldn’t figure it out. Also it’s 30 degrees here at the warmest part of the day so my fiancé and I were outside shivering trying to read the instructions and that didn’t help.

I just went to the Fire Dept. They showed me. Theres even special free car seat install days in some communities.

Thanks Matt! I seriously sat out in the backseat for upwards of 30 stress filled minutes unable to figure out how the hell to get those base clips to connect/find the kias metal hooks. Almost immediately you pointed out what should have been the obvious and bam! Base successfully installed! From one first time dad to another, you were a lifesaver. Thank you

This helped me, and actually he did doit right. It's suppose to be snug in the back but moves in the front towards the front of the car.

Thanks, Matt! I got a girl and it was so difficult to install the base seat but with your help, it went pretty easy.
UPDATE: To tighten the base you have to raise the base to level 2 and it becomes REAL easy to tighten with little effort.
Duvall Mariano how do you that because I have a baby trend car seat too and I just noticed the levers that tell you whether it’s in correct or not is showing that it’s not in right

Please for the love of all things-WORK WITH A CPST (Child Passenger Safety Technician) to learn about your car seat! This is the best video example ever of why I do what I do. Parents aren’t stupid. Parents aren’t careless. Car seats are complex, not straightforward, and literally require training to get them in safely. Hire a CPST!

You are my hero. My sister is in labor and they hadn’t installed the base yet and I stared at it like “uhhh....” before finding this video. Now the base is in their vehicle nice and tight. We’re ready!!
Hey Matt you missed out one step. You need to put the car seat in base first to check if the base is at the right level. The car seat will have a spirit level guide on the side, well most do anyway.

Why does the front lift up ?? I feel if I get into a roll over my baby is gonna be sent to the roof / back of the seat.
The front moves to make sure if you get hit hard the car seat gives so the seat absorbs the impact instead of the impact going to the child. We had a car pull in front of us at 45 mph an we couldn’t stop it destroyed the car an me an my wife were in bad shape an I was in the back seat with my son, an my son had little burns from the seat belt that was it. It needs to be able to move at the front always remember that an if u latched the car seat in to the booster correctly then that baby isn’t going anywhere. An also please make sure your straight are in the right position on your child cause it can break their ribs if you have them to low an it also can throw them out if you have them place d wrong

my problem with this base is the front of it pulls up pretty easy and that just does not seem safe to me. is there another strap to hold it down?
Bigdogz 24/7 the seat is rear facing so it weighs the front down
Trying to instsll this tonight. Don't like the movement of the base either. Can lift it up off the seat of the car
Helps if you get in the car for leverage and pull it tight like you're starting a lawnmower

Is the car seat supposed to wiggle when snapped into the base? The base is secure and doesn’t wiggle in the car but when we attach the car seat it wiggles is this normal?
