MA Long wins historic second straight Olympic gold in men's singles table tennis. The People's Republic of China's MA Long confirmed his status as one of the table tennis greats with back-to-back Olympic men's singles titles, beating compatriot FAN Zhendong 4-2 (11-4, 10-12, 11-8, 11-9, 3-11, 11-7). It is the fourth straight Olympics that PR China has claimed the two top steps on the podium in the men's singles event.
The Tokyo 2020 Olympic Summer Games took place in Japan, from July 23, 2021 to August 8, 2021.

This commenter (Adam) was the best I have ever heard in any Olympic events. His casual commenting style makes the match so much enjoyable to watch! I hope the Olympic committee will hire more commenters like Adam.
While that is true, I would've liked a co-commentator who could give some more technical/tactical comentary. However, Adam commentary style is just timeless

yeah, great having someone with the knowledge and passion for the game to bring some insight.
When Ma Long won the world table tennis championships in 2017 the second time four years ago everybody thought that he was on the peak of his carrier. Far wrong! In 2019, after an absence of 8 months through injury, he won the Qatar open and eventually defended his title at the world table tennis championships making him the first player to win three of them since Wang Liqin. Now that he has won the olympic games again, he's the first player to complete a double grand slam and additionally with his age of 32 the oldest olympic champion ever. The fact that he's still capable for beating world number one Fan Zhendong now proves that the age is only a number and can be neglected. All of this made us call him the DRAGON, the DICTATOR and undoubtly the GOAT !!!

Ma Long is definitely a legend of table tennis. There's a video where he shared that he was frustated after his injury because he often lost his matches. I feel bad for him since we know how injury can affect an athlete's career and mental health. Thankfully he can come back stronger and defend his Olympic medal again. Fan Zhendong also has long career ahead. Congrats to both of them!

FZD is excellent but ML just knows his game too well (they both KNOW each other well) with more experience (Maybe) so came on top. Just watch how they fought thru the semi's is exhilarating. Love them both. ML is a legend of all times, especially at 32 and after so many injuries, just incredible.

Learn the body mechanics of each stroke and u'll improved and don watch the pro plays, it wont help you if you are a beginner as you try to imitate their movement.. as chinese coach said imitate is a no no especially people who try to imitate ma long 😂

What a game! I believe both of them couldn't sleep well before the game. Very tense game. One wants to prove his era is coming but other, against all odds and even after injuries and surgery, proves his era is not yet over and tries to reclaim his throne again.

Both of them are part of national team from the age of 15 and 16. Head coach who was also a grand slam winner against the most powerful opponent team and players of Sweden has made the difference between them. Ma Long is a youngest son of him and to keep the team on tract like previous captains such as Ma Lin. He has kept his faith on Ma Long and kept on sharpening. In 2012 although Ma Long was ahead of Z.J .K and W.H by statistic, coach let him wait for next 4 years which Ma Long followed like a grade 1 student.The outcome has never been in doubt. Ma Long has gained substantial improvement in both physical and mental aspects.He beat Z.J.K in 4 games straight at Rio final. Z.J.K has openly credited that Ma Long has improved a lot. Since then we see the total dominance of Ma Long.
