      Its not good because the motivations behind it aren't good. He doesn't value life for any intrinsic quality it may have, he values it only as far as it serves him. Life is a treasure, a toy he has at his disposal. If it ceases to serve him, it ceases to have value. If the galaxy as a whole were to turn from Palpatine and stop praising him and stop being dominated, and he saw no end to this behavior, he would cease to find value in life. He would likely kill everyone as punishment and then travel to a new galaxy to dominate and rule those he found there. Valuing life for selfish reasons does not make it a draw to the light side though one could argue its the the light and dark side can find common ground upon.. though for different reasons.

      @@thunderstudentthe jedi are balanced in the force tho.
      There is no such a thing using 100% light side in the jedi teachings. Shatterpoint has good paragraph for this. I want to share with you.
      **Jedi peace balances the buried rage within, and faith in peace smooths the bulges caused by the pleasure of fighting.**
      Every jedi has anger, but they want to balance this with the teachings. And now for me, it makes more sense that why Anakin became a jedi after balanced the force.

    • @thunderstudent
      @thunderstudent Před 4 měsíci +2

      @@MasterJade Unfortunately, the Clone Wars era Jedi didn't really preach balancing your negative emotions with wisdom. They were essentially teaching that you should either bottle up your emotions or just not acknowledge them at all. Which isn't healthy at all.
      For all its faults, how Ashoka {the show} handled Anakin was masterful. Showing how he has learned to channel not just the light or dark sides but the emotions that come with them. He's not reckless as he was in the Clone Wars nor is he always angry as he was when he was Darth Vader.
      As an aside, the lightsaber he manifests in the world between worlds is his Jedi Lightsaber, not his Sith variant, even when he uses a red blade the hilt is still his Jedi weapon.
      This is also why I love Luke's new order in the EU, he allows Jedi to marry, he gives them more freedom, but with that freedom comes more responsibility for their own actions. He teaches his students to embrace their emotions while also teaching them self control. Emotion yet peace.

    • @MasterJade
      @MasterJade Před 4 měsíci

      @@thunderstudent To be honest, Dave Filoni and his team always make nonsense works. We knew it from clone wars. Filoni always contradicted with countinties. He even wanted to include Revan to Clone Wars in Mortis if I am not mistaken, thank God, Lucas didn't allow.
      But even we analyse the scene as you see Anakin has no dark side abilities like Force lighting or even basic force scream. But in dark dimension he used red lightning.
      My headcanon explanation for this that since force ghost can appear as any from of their life part, Anakin appears as Vader or Anakin.
      Canon writers made very clear that, the jedi are balanced. In TrOS when Anakin's ghost said to Rey bring balance to the force same things happened and Rey said I am all the jedi(yeah I know this is crazy but TRoS and Ahsoka series exists in same continuity) blah blah blah. You know.
      And yes maybe the Prequels jedi was arrogant. But that doesn't mean they are unbalanced. In Shatterpoint and in Attack of the clones Mace and Yoda stated that there is a shadow in the force, their instincts were becoming weak. And that made blind them. And this is the jedi's fault, they never improved themselves, they never created new force abilities like the New Jedi Order. And that's why they couldn't destroy the shadow in the force.
      **"The Sith had changed. The Sith had grown, had adapted, had invested a thousand years’ intensive study into every aspect of not only the Force but Jedi lore itself, in preparation for exactly this day. The Sith had remade themselves. They had become new. While the Jedi- The Jedi had spent that same millennium training to re-fight the last war. The new Sith could not be destroyed with a lightsaber;"**
      -RoTS novel.
      And according to this, you are right about The preuqls jedi's corruption. They lost their way but that doesn't mean they are still "officially" balanced. This is not about only the jedi, any force user that doesn't corrupt his mind with dark side is balanced even PostIH Anakin is balanced.
      I want to write here a quote from Legends Book: Plagueis.
      ' **“Yes,” Plagueis said pensively. “But I failed to exercise due caution. As we attempt to wrest the powers of life and death from the Force, as we seek to tip the balance, the Force resists our efforts. Action and reaction, Sidious. "** '
      As you see, this is the last decades of the old jedi. Their Republic is corrupted, they lost their way. But Plagueis talking about the balance. THERE WAS BALANCE and Plagueis want to destroy it. He won this war in many ways.
      I hope you understand this.

    Like you said, he would never turn to the light side. However, I do believe that in either the Dark Empire comic TPB or the Dark Empire Sourcebook from West End Games, it was mentioned that during his recovery from the Battle of Endor to the time of the comic, he did study various other Force traditions. He also studied whatever lore he had of the light side, but only to see if there was a way he could twist and corrupt it, increasing his own power. That's about the only time he "benefited" from the light side.

    The Darkside CAN grant eternal life. Plagueis figured it out and cracked that code, and theoretically short of being/killed murdered (which happened) he could have lived forever. The problem is that Plagueis took it a step further and tried to create life, and be a God. The Force struck back, and created Anakin, and we all know what happened after. Had Plagueis stayed in his lane, and stopped at immortality. It would have been been game, set, and match forever with The Sith winning for a long time. Unfortuanately when he died, the secret died with him. And Sidious never figured it out, and settled on spirit transfer and cloning, which doesn't work. It's ironic that the man's greed, and lust for power stopped him from learning the ultimate bit of knowledge that Plagueis evidently discovered in the end.

He cut the Jedi down to equal footing with the Sith while simultaneously forcing Sidious/Pelagius to change his plans to achieve any sort of victory. Palpatine values Life but not in any way that could be considered sincere. He does not feel love or appreciation or compassion for another being, whether they can wield the Force or not, though he duz view those without the Power of the Force to be inherently inferior compared those who can, and especially himself.
    Palpatine scolding and chastising Vader for his inclination to kill others, including imperial officers, led to him confessing a particular facet of his character in the form of his hubris and vanity: He stated he does not want to rule a galaxy of the dead.
    This is becuz Palpatine values Life in how it can be useful to him or else be subservient to him. He looks down upon the teeming masses as inferior subjects who gaze upwards to him whether in adulation or else fear. He enjoys being a superior being to everyone around him, whether they are his highest-ranking imperial officers, a homeless vagrant with nothing to his name, and even his so-called apprentice and enforcer, Darth Vader.
    Palpatine achieved the Grand Plan of the Sith and thus came to the narcissistic conclusion that he is destined or perhaps cosmically chosen by the Force itself to rule all that lies within his sight and even beyond. He even views the Force as a servant to his will, a clear example of his hubris and megalomania.
    Had Palpatine been given love and real guidance by his family during his childhood instead of being spoiled and resented by them, or perhaps even been found and taken in by the Jedi Order, he might have grown up to be a very different person.

    I don't believe Palpatine values life. He values servants. He values the status power provides him. Without servants he has no status and power means nothing. It's even stated in the video. He wishes to wield the power. He doesn't wish peace as we know it. Peace to Palpatine is absolute servitude. Peace as we know it is the population working towards a common goal together in harmony. Peace to Palpatine is those beneath him working as he sees fit towards his goals and his goals alone, without resistance.
    Which brings us back to why he wants to use power, as he knows under a tyrannical rule there will always be those who resist. Power ensures he can remove resistance in a manner of his choosing.

    Palpatin's reason to care about life is greed. he views Vader killing their troops and officers as wasteful, as if he's seeing a child or frustrated student venting their frustration on his useful tools. Palpatine desires domination of all life, do to his greed and pride, thus seeing losing useful tools as a failure. if he can't teach Vader to appreciate their tools and the pure exptression of power in controlling them as holding more value then destruction, he is a failure as a teacher or at least that Vader fails as a student of immense potential. it's not love in any form, he just sees the power of diseption as more appealing then simply crushing those who oppose him. there's a reason he let Maul live after he saw him as a rival and defeated him. to destroy is mindless, to force servitude is simple, but to decieve proves intelligence.

    The funny thing is, we often agree that both yin and yang are right; they both need to exist, and balance the other, but Palpatine, and the Sith, are an abomination. Even in an arrangement where the Dark Side isn't evil, depending on how one chooses to use it, and that it is the Sith teachings, not the Dark Suse base, that us bad, I'm not sure we can say that the Emperor is either yin or yang, as much as a mistake that the equation, were it capable, would factor out, in order to "purify the math.
    And at the risk of getting into fate v. free will territory, did Palpatine truly have a choice? Depending upon what you read, the day he was born, he was "wrong", and demonstrated abilities that regular babies wouldn't have. This isn't Dune, where sone are born with preknowledge, and begin life wirh memories, awareness, and such. I don't have any reason to think that newborn Sheev was already craving for Malice, yet the Force acted through him, and it just got worse, as time went on. Well before he could make coherent thoughts, or remember consequences of his choices, ge already seemed predestined to line up for the Dark, so would he have ever had a good opportunity to find another path, or did the Dark Side decide for him, and everyone, that there was a Darth Plagueis, and there would be a Darth Sidious?

      Some people are born without empathy, in the novel " Darth Plagueis " it was written Palpatine accidently committed random manslaughter his father had to cover up multiple times. When Palpatine killed, he felt nothing about it with no joy or guilt. He was at most mildly annoyed but never anger by the slowness of others around him. Then there was his father.
      Unless you been bully to the point of throwing a book at someone in school or shoving knock over furniture. You don't understand the reason Palpatine's Hatred of his father.
      As before the novel of Plagueis, my rpg D&D/Star Wars gaming shop did a campaign that Palpatine had a great loving family life and made his way by being a card/dice cheat and talking others into business deals. He social butterfly till his mid thirties then ran for office of trade minister and later galaxy senate. The whole clone army fiancé by Dooku was over a card game. They were bored, they made the galaxy burn in war, and they treated it all as a game of MtG magic the gathering.
      2.) In the novel of RotS, in short hand with Order 65 is to kill the Supreme Chancellor/him Palpatine and Order 66 to kill the Jedi.
      Palpatine to Mace, " I tell you what, lets flip a coin on this. Heads the guards shots you. Tails the guards shot me. "
      Under Order 65 being a false red flag command, the thought of dozens or hundreds of Jedi dying to save him has cross his mind a few times a week.

    Just one small correction, the Dark Side does in fact offer methods of extending one's life and/or achieving immortality. Thing is, these methods are generally either highly limiting to the individual's freedom (dark side specters tied to tombs or artifacts) or extremely destructive (feeding off the life force of entire planets), and likely wouldn't interest Palpatine.

    There is one thing I don't get about the Sith in general, and that's their view to dominate. The Sith thinks whose who don't seek power is to be ruled over. Yet when someone rises up to challenge them, it should earn their respect, because they do as they believe in. But instead views them as rivals to their own power.
    So in a way, even if the Jedi where power wielding being, not unlike the old samurai, he would still view them as rivals, only worthy of his respect, but never praise

    • @tw19771
      @tw19771 Před 4 měsíci +3

      The Jedi don't earn the respect from any powerful Sith, nor is respect passively granted to a Jedi. The question of Jedi vs Sith is really a question of freewill, and freedom. The Jedi do not, and never will practice freewill and freedom, because they are essentially slaves to the lightside aka Ashla. And the will of Ashla is what a dedicated Jedi will do. Protect the life that Ashla creates. A Jedi is not concerned with thinking in such a moment, nor are they concerned with any notion of respect to them granted by othera because they have none and their spirits are void of it. They are avatars of being humble, and their main selfish wish is communion with Ashla once they go to the other side.
      A sith is a complete 180 reversal of such a notion. They are not slaves to the force, they control it, hunt it, they will and do practice freewill. As they subjugate the force they subjugate others, and because they are free thinkers The Force hates that, because the force doesn't want to be hunted and controlled. And as such the exploits of a sith are as destructive as it is self destructive.
      Star Wars is a moral story asking what do you fight for etc. Lucas originally intended the Jedi to be avatars of righteousness with good vs evil being clearly defined. Good and evil, make your choice. As both philosophies have aged though, both thoughts have earned there merits.
      Although personally I think the sith are a bit more correct, because nobody by a psycho, bends their will for a cosmic energy they cant see and wants to commune with it. Thats jim jones crazy. And if the sith were allowed to practice compassion, the jedi would be redundant and cast aside as crazies, and well, every good story has to have an antagonist, so.

  • @Vet_Sniper21
    @Vet_Sniper21 Před 4 měsíci

    The force grants so much power, and if you have as many midichlorians as Anakin, Luke and Palpatine, you would be able to use the force in it's fullest potential. I hate how the sith just mainly uses the Dark Side and the Jedi the side. Palpatine is the perfect example of a force user. He was so gifted that he rarely used his lightsaber. I think how one used the force depends on the emotions their feeling. If someone feels angry or scared, they can use the dark side. If someone feels at peace they can use the lightside. I think it's kinda ironic though; Palaptine wanted eternal life, but he;s literally worshiping the wrong power to get it. Although, if he did worshiped the lightside, he might become a really powerful Jedi, but that's just going to make his journey to power longer and his journey to eternal life shorter.

    Palpatine doesn't value life. He values the power other life forms provide him. The higher the population the more people he can rule over and the more power he has. He values power and an incentive inherent in that is keeping his followers alive or he would have nothing to rule over. If he truly valued life he would not have used his own peoples life force as source of fuel for his own longevity on Byss. Like any sociopath Palpatine has absolutely no concern for others at all. Only what others can do for him. In this case it is in Palpatine's own self interest to have followers because without them he would have no empire to rule over.

    1. He tries to join forces and betray them, to gain said power. Even knowing he would probably fail and risks everything in doing so.
    2. He tries to kill them, out of fear or possibly envy.
    3. He runs, flees back to safety, and basically pretends it never happened. (Apart from maybe a note in the book of the Sith).
