Those comic books that he is showing off from his own collection "that he would not sign" are worth close to 20 MILLION dollars. The year he launched Spawn, I took one of my guitars, stripped it down and repainted it with the 2-page spread of Spawn on a rooftop inside the 1st issue. 4 months later, he was in Dallas and giving autographs. Well, I got to the hotel where the convention was later in the afternoon thinking the line would be nothing...well, I was wrong. The line for him wrapped all the way around the downstairs lobby, up the stairs, and almost all the way around the second floor!
I was there for about 15 min and the line hadn't really moved all that much when Todd made an announcement that he was going to take a quick break and would be right back. About 5 minutes later I hear a guy behind me ask "Is this the guitar I have heard about?" I turn around, and there is McFarland standing right there. I was all "Um...yes? How did you hear about it though? I just got here." Apparently that was how fast word spread through the line about my guitar. Well...he signed it and said it was a great job done on the guitar, and also signed my Spawn #1.
Great day that was....got a compliment from McFareland, two autographs, and didn't pay a single dollar to get in! :) True story.

Ozzy was obviously so high at that time in the 80s he didn't even care until Sharon started her shit with Dio and Sabbath over everything. When Randy died the original members all made up and Dio went on to his solo career after fighting with Iommi and Butler over writing lyrics. Humans, we have this sickness where we think this stuff matters when we all die at the end and can’t take it with you. For anyone who thinks he's bragging and using this to do so. It isn't like he's rubbing it peoples' face.. He's simply informing people what he can't sign someone else's work. Which would be taking credit for it.. Which is worse than showing off. Apparently this must be a problem with fans and the the fans are making a stink about it, being entitled and NOT understanding that is isn't his work. Which is one o the most professional things I've seen from the comic artist/creator today. These younger ones are more than eager to take credit for other people's work....and they will ALWAYS get a pass.

If it's not worthy of me. I will not sign it. Sometimes you just want something with your hero's name on it. Something that is important to you, but he did not make it. If he is to good for you. Then be better than him.

I totally get it, By putting your name or something you didn't do some people couldn't interpret it as a slight. " He had no part in the creation of that character why is he putting his name on it" It's kind of like how a tattoo artist doesn't like to do flash they only likes to do original artwork. To be honest there's nothing really wrong with that.

Serious question: how can an autographed book rate so high. Is there a special caveat in the system? You would think that it would have an asterisk. Do they have some level of liability in getting the signature confirmed?

Because it’s 2 things people like on one object: Todd and the their favorite comics. I can’t speak for everyone but I don’t ask for autographs so that the person can authenticate or “sign off” on their work. It’s just a reminder that I met them.
But yeah he wasn’t being unreasonable.

    Fair enough.
BUT he did sign on the Spider-Man Skyline variant that has at least 98 other signatures on it.
Look it up, the CGC graded book with 99 signatures.
So did Todd or all the other 98 people worked on that book?
Was it because the owner of that book was Connected?
Where will these 'double standards' end?

Dude, Todd is taking the piss. He is just an excuse for him to show off his impressive collection of worlds most valuable comic books. That is like saying "Do not bring original Van Gogh paiting for me to sign." Those comics are close to 10 MILLION dollars EACH ! And would lose millions of their value being ruined with anyone's signature.
