Part of that is probably because when you try to explain what the show is about, it's hard to make it sound interesting. I think some of the best books, movies, plays. And musicals are like that. It's a real shame because this is amazing

My daughter is currently playing Jerusha at North Greenville University in Greenville, SC. One of the most beautiful shows I have ever seen. I am obsessed. Very underrated! I have watched it 4 times and it just keeps getting better!!
finally! someone talks about this. my first introduction to daddy long legs was actually the anime. philippine saturday morning kids shows showed a lot of filipino dubbed anime. i hold it close to my heart. imagine how delighted i was to hear "the color of your eyes" in spotify. thank you so much for sharing your love for this musical.
did you know there were productions of the musical in the philippines apparently! i think in the cebu area more specifically.
When a friend told me about Daddy Long Legs, I dreaded seeing it. I wondered how good a show could really be with only a two person cast. It absolutely blew me away with how good it is- it's like Pride and Prejudice and Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society had a baby. Daddy Long Legs is SO good- it's sweet, romantic, funny, tragic, heart-warming, and heart-breaking at the same time. The music is so simple and repeats itself so much with all of the reprises, but they are all fitting and filled with complex emotions from such amazingly foiled characters! Seriously, this musical is a rare masterpiece in a sea of overly done musicals that rely entirely on one or two songs of belting ear worms.

Ah when I first found the show I watched it like three or four times in the span of a week ! It’s such a work of art and I’m so grateful we got a soundtrack on itunes! also the book is sooo good and there’s a modernized part pride and prejudice retelling called dear mr. knightly too for whoever likes reading!!
Oh good. I feel normal now. I watched the film on Saturday, had read the book by Sunday lunchtime and have now watched the Musical about 4 times since then in the next week lol

My local theatre did this show. It was always my favorite and getting to see it live is the best!! I love the version on broadway HD the actors are amazing.
I discovered it on Spotify and I love it so much! My two favourite musicals are both two person musicals, strangely. I suggest you try listening to 36 Questions.

I agree! This is just a sweet and underrated musical! I actually heard the score before even watching it and I was just enthralled with the simplicity and complexity of it and just Megan McGinnis beautiful pure and sweet voice…I couldn’t stop listening to it! I am now reading the novel and I am loving it! And it is true it is sweet but not cheesy, it has a strong female personality and a young mature yet secluded male counterpart and it is just a delight to see them both grow! I just love it!
I love this show, having seen the Off-Broadway production twice and having watched the live-streamed video on Broadway HD countless times. Megan McGinnis is phenomenal as Jerusha.

Seen it 6 times. Read the book, listened to the audiobook and the soundtrack...the book sequel is just as delightful.

I saw this not too long ago and it was a life changer of a musical. I absolutely adored it. I don't think you're seeing it the rose colored glasses. It really was that good. My only regret was not seen the show more than once when it was showing near me.
Just want to point out that it is not a violin, but a cello. Which I suppose is part of the violin family so you weren't off completely, but yeah. Cello.

I am so glad I learned of this! This book has been a favorite since childhood. So happy to see it on stage.
I grew up with this book as being one of my favourite novels. I accidentally stumbled upon some of the music on Spotify and I was immediately drawn to it and after seeing that it's a musical adaptation of my beloved book I simply had to see it! I adore the stage production, it's so simple but really portrays the story well and the music is gorgeous! I also love the humor in the show.

my "local" (ok I drive like 3 hours to check them out) theatre did this a few years ago and the romantic tension made me so giddy I nearly passed out. It's so simple, yet so stunning.
I saw this show at the Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park way before it went to Broadway. They were selling a CD of the soundtrack which I bought. I liked the show a lot when I saw it, but listening to the soundtrack made me love it. The music and lyrics are so clever. I agree the this is a very underrated musicals.

As much as I love this show and see it in a whimsical and light manner, I can’t deny the fact that Jervis is lowkey a Groomer 😂. Again I LOVE this show to death it’s just very a Dear Evan Hansen & Sweeney Todd morality situation.
