    These guys are excellent. Ordered my springs on a Tuesday night (watch the video on spring measurement as well), and had them sent overnight as I had a car stuck in the garage and I didn’t want to risk injury manhandling the door. Shipping label was created by 6AM the next morning and the springs were on my doorstep Thursday. Watched the video three or four times, then played it back in sections as I did it. Took about an hour and I know nothing about these doors except they open and close. Saved me at least $200. My kit came with both springs, the winding bar, and a new steel center bearing. I will recommend these guys to everyone!

    My garage door broke, so I tracked down this video. I ordered the parts from the website (at a relative bargain, might I add), and awaited the parts. I watched tracking, and the parts almost made it here, then mysteriously went back (Fed Ex's fault...not Kyle's). When I notified Kyle of the issue, he immediately shipped me the parts again. I received them and successfully (and easily) replaced the parts and the door is working better than it ever has. Kyle and his company are awesome! I just installed my tension springs that I received yesterday from FedEx. Kyle is the man to go to for garage parts and he helps you for what you need to fix your garage door. Shipping was very fast. Also thank you for th great price you gave me as well. Watching Kyle's video and doing the spring replacements myself saved me over 350 dollars for a contractor to do it. Thank you again Kyle.

      Before I watched this video, I was cranked 20 quarter turns and head a noise, so I stopped, but when door open, it only up half way, no more :juice" or stored energy. SO later I did 31 turns and the door ups as it should be.

    I found this video via a search, went to the site and ordered needed parts using their ery detailed guidelines. When the parts came, everything went exactly as shown here. I had this same job done professionally about 10 or so yers ago, and it cost over $250 then. Who knew the secret is a pair of bars made from steel round stock! Not only was this an easy job, but winding the springs is a fair substitute for inside jab work with a boxing bag. All that aside, these guys are seriously helpful. No telling how much I saved in today’s costs.

  • @goneballistic
    @goneballistic Před 7 lety +3

    great video but the recommendation on number of turns was off for my door it looks like. I have an 8 foot door, I put 34 turns on it as recommended at 8:38, when I released the carriage to check tension, it came up too fast.
    so take the turn loading recommendation with a grain of salt. I'd have gone with about 20 turns based on how fast my door just launched into the air.
    Other than that, this video is perfect on how to do it, the process. No extra waiting, it's edited very well and easy to follow. The parts I got were perfect and fit right on.
    Update: As long as I live, I will never buy a garage spring from anyone but Kyle Hogge as long as I live. SUPERIOR service and attention to detail, even with my wrong springs.
    Just watch the video, and buy the stuff from Kyle. Fantastic customer service.

    • @diygaragedoorparts
      @diygaragedoorparts  Před 7 lety +1

      Gone Ballistic you have the wrong springs on your door. The correct Springs for your door is critical in the way it functions. That is why we have instructional videos on measuring your springs. Also if you would have put only 20 quarter turns on your setup it would have been heavy as lead when it opened to the halfway point (not enough turns) and if you would have lifted the door like that with your opener cables would have came off of the drums and you would have had a huge mess. When a door does not balance the the turn recommendations it means you have the wrong springs .

    • @diygaragedoorparts
      @diygaragedoorparts  Před 7 lety +2

      Yeah I hate that that happened. If the old owners put the wrong Springs on this is definitely a possibility. You could also weigh the door with no spring tension on it and get me the height and the drum size and I can calculate it for you if you would like.

    • @goneballistic
      @goneballistic Před 7 lety

      I'll try and figure out how to do it. I think I found the issue: the springs are perfectly tensioned at 21 turns, but the springs are totally unloaded at 3/4 height, and then the cable comes off the drum.
      what do you need to calculate the right springs? Just the weight of the door? And what is your exchange policy? My guess is I'm going to get killed on return shipping, these babies are *heavy*.
      I checked my spring I took off, the measurements are the same as the new spring, it's just the new spring is much stronger......

    • @diygaragedoorparts
      @diygaragedoorparts  Před 7 lety +1

      Gone Ballistic I would bet you purchase a larger wire diameter than you old ones. We do accept returns. Your best option is to remeasure the old springs, also it would not hurt to weigh the door and get the drum size too. we will calculate it for you.

    • @goneballistic
      @goneballistic Před 7 lety

      just weighed the door:
      237 lbs
