- Singapore's PM Lee Hsien Loong to Step Down: End of an Era? | Vantage with Palki Sharma
The Singaporean Prime Minister's Office made an announcement today. It has revealed the date of the transition of power to the next generation. Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong will be stepping down on May 15, and handing over the reins to Deputy Prime Minister Lawrence Wong. This marks the end of an era in Singapore. Lee is just Singapore's the third ever Prime Minister. He has ruled the nation for almost 20 years. He's also the second one from his family to rule the island nation. Lee Hsien Loong's father, Lee Kuan Yew, was Singapore's first PM after it became self-governed. The Lee family is synonymous with Singapore's development. The incoming PM Lawrence Wong has big shoes to fill.

Best of luck to Singapore and its people. With Love from India.
Thank you so much ❤️ Our President Mr Tharman Shanmugaratnam is a Singaporean with Indian ancestry. He is widely respected by many Singaporeans regardless of race, religion and political party affiliations.
Thank you😊❤
Peacefully handing over to the Next. Generation.A good example in politic Systerm in singapore.
From a Singaporean: "Thanks Palki for your best wishes ❤"
Wish Malaysia have leaders like Singapore.👈🙂
@@stormtrooper2170 Malaysia needs someone like Indonesia's Jokowi
@@atlantis98765would only happen when the majority admit their Indonesian heritage with humility.
@@Kangayam_ For Malaysia to have leaders like Singapore is not going to work. Our leaders insist on keeping religion and politics separate (a.k.a secularism)
PM WONG will have the backs of Singaporeans unconditionally.
🇸🇬💪
You are so cute...❤
All the best Singapore..frm yr brother Malaysia❤❤❤🎉🎉😅😅
Thank you😊
Tough challenges lie ahead Wong, keep progressing to make sustainable growth and also continue to produce better, positive results
Authotarian and anti corruption hand in hand but what about a few Western countries that brag they are democratic but turning a blind eye in order for their countries to progress is the norm. Hope the country continues to progress after this new change
doesn't matter what kind of government they are, as long as there is bad guys around it will be shyt government. However, check and balance is good government it helps to make sure that the bad guy pays.
Progress in the name of Lee dynasty
@@taipangwong356 Love lee dynasty.
One of the good leader Mr Lee,❤
Best Wishes 🎉
good luck and best wishes to singapore
Thank you 😊
Without a doubt Lawrence Wong has some big shoes to fill. Hopefully he won’t get any blisters after wearing these new pair of shoes. My heartfelt wish to Singapore to move forward to an even brighter future under the new 4G team! 💪
So much of goodness in them that they resign to make way for new power.
The late LKY stepped down as PM and remain the most influential person in the country , it will be the same for LHL .
Lee legacy ?
What a series of great Prime Ministers this island nation has produced!
He did not step down but stepped aside. He is still in power just like his late father.😔
Do u think it will be great to postpone the recently announced handover of premiership till after National Day? Reason..
1. Singaporeans need time to adjust
2. Like 20 years ago the sitting Prime Minister will give the NDR and attend NDP for the last time and his successor will do the NDR.
This going to be a challenge. Younger generation having to fight for job with foreign graduates from questionable university degree compare to the local many are not happy.
Indian 🙏🇮🇳
PM WONG wishes all the best from TADETADE BLEND
What now ? Minister Mentor Lee Hsien Loong ? 😅
Finally…
Is it good or bad
Mr Lee Loong can now rest short now
Waaaah......s'pore next pm is "CHOSEN" , not even in the 'list" of elected for pm (doesn't mean a dpm is a "future", dpm is always a dpm, submissive & yesman) or favor by the people but by the party and oligarchs ....???... impressive..,...but what I can say, even Malaysia is the same most of the time..😂...only Privet, Ni Hao & Salam from Malaysia in here ❤🎉❤
yes, the PM is chosen by the winning party. My friend, this is the political system of the British and now the political system of Commonwealth nations which were once British colonies and now inherited the system. So, it's not just Singapore and Malaysia with such political structure. They are inherited from the British system. (As a side note, this is different from the US political system. Broadly speaking, the British and US systems are the 2 main current political systems for democracy countries with elected government.)
Mr Lee son not ready yet…
So, they need someone to hold the throne. 😂
even if that's the case, the son needs to be elected by the people to become MP first.
@@xthene Its easy to be elected in just put him in group representation constituency (GRC) in major supporters constituency. It work like magic every time.
@@Utube1024 still, that's elected by the people.
I believe, there will be "false flag" event in s'pore, "We Are In Trouble Now, So We Need An Experience Man & Former Leader to Lead Us All Again..!!!"....😂😂😂....let see maybe I am wrong,....only Privet Ni Hao & Salam from Malaysia in here ❤🎉❤
After Barbie the toy, we have Lawrence the boy controlled by Lee family
If Palki has nice things to say about someone, then the someone must be corrupt or nasty.

It’s pronounced as p a p not pap
1 family ruled a country for 51 years???
Common in Asia 🤦♂️
And for 51 years, the country progresses non stop from being the poorest country in Asia to the 3rd richest in the world. All thanks to this effective and efficient government, namely the PAP. May God bless Singapore 🇸🇬 forever.
Well this ain't the Kim dynasty of North Korea. They are good authoritarian rulers...
Still continuing, waiting for Hongyi to grow his beards
51 years so?
Why step down so young.? Malaysian Prime Minister is trying so hard to be PM even aged 98
He did not step down altogether but remain as senior minister. Don't know for what?
@@Utube1024 only Qing Dynasty zombie can live that long.
Pm semi retire
Lawerence wong will
Pm and he goiing to be
Very stress job
Still run by Lee Dynasty, waiting for Hongyi to take the throne
And if that's the case, Hongyi needs to be elected by the people to become MP first.
Meaning: Their heyday is over (just like Hong Kong).
On the contrary, SG and HK's trajectory couldn't be anymore different 😊
I have never saw you giving your best wishes to any countries for new elected leaders on your news program. And you don't like autocratic governments . Are you expecting or hoping making an Interview by saying those nice words ?
