You are such a good teacher. I love the way you talk us through your thought processes as you simplify a photo. The way you can make changes. So beautiful to have you as a teacher. Loved adding KENNYS TREE AT THE END.
Yes, Kenny's tree is now famous
I am glad you got to visit Muir Woods.
Well in a virtual way. We have similar wood walks in the UK
when we see you do it, we have the "impression" that it's easy, but when we try to imitate you, we realise that it's much, much harder than we expected .... once again, thank you for this masterly demonstration, your rendering of the foliage is splendid.
You can do it! Thanks Claude
Thank you so very much for this opportunity to capture the woods in sunlight. I’ve moved into a home where I am surrounded by trees and every attempt I’ve made to capture the light has failed. This gives me the confidence to try it again. What a superb artist you are and so generous to offer this on You Tube. I cannot thank you enough.
Glad it helped and just simplify what you see
Fantastic painting. It's educational and inspiring watching you paint. But also humbling. Thanks and thumbs up. [Edit: It's also great how you critique your painting(s) at the end of the video(s) and suggest improvements/alternatives.]
I like doing those critiques at the end!
Good afternoon, Tim ! It’s nice as always,I continue to learn from you ! Thank you!
My pleasure!
Thisl isl so beautiful. Thank you for sharing
My pleasure 😊
Was a great lesson, for all artists to watch and learn your process, I enjoyed it very much and learned so so much. Thank you thank you!
Thanks very much Debbie!
I was wandering when you were going to remember that post! Great painting as usual.
Yes! Thank you!
Enjoyed every second watching you paint this magnificent watercolor. Learned more about painting trees and layering from you! Thanks so much! You’re amazing👏👏👏🌿🌲
Yes, I think layers are the key here
Thank you for doing this Muir Woods view. I live nearby and you captured the dappled light beautifully.
Glad you enjoyed it! What a lovely spot to live
Excellent demonstration, Tim. I learnt a lot and enjoyed every informative minute! Thanks.
Thanks Tony - it was a long one
Several good techniques here, and fun to watch. I was thinking that you might try doing blooms, often conisdered a mistake when water hits not quite dry paint, for making the sunny ovals on the pavement.
Brilliant idea! Thanks!
Very nice job, good variety of strokes and techniques. A fine artistic interpretation of an area I love to visit
Thank you very much! Lovely trees there.
Absolutely beautiful! Well done !
Thank you very much!
I recognize this place, it's near Revelestoke, BC, it's called Enchanted Forest. Light can be very pretty there. Thank you for the lesson!
It is Muir woods
Thanks!
Thank you so much for your support Susan!
Hello wouah so intéressant ,surely one to try ...thanks from France .
Merci beaucoup!
Tim, this was a wonderful video that covered a multitude of subjects. Now after seeing it I will do it myself. The only change I will make it that I will make the top of the railings, especially on the right side, a bit more dappled. It just seemed a bit harsh to me. Also I wanted you opinion on toning down the white paper in the areas where the sun is breaking through the trees. Robt.
Really nice and so many good lessons!
I think keep that paper unpainted unless it is a bright white in colour
Una meraviglia!
Thank you
Que importante es no encasillarse ....muy bueno!
Thanks Omar
Amazing! Thank you
Glad you liked it!
Magnifique !!!
Merci !!
I loved this. Concerned that there aren’t shadows coming off the three large trees onto the path, given all the back lighting.
Great idea
Wow...nice
Thank you so much
very beautifi!!
Thank you so much 😀
Hello,
it's amazing, as any other of your artworks!
I really like the brightness and the vibrancy of you paintings and the use of the light and shadows.
I think people can learn a lot from your videos.
...By the way...speaking of learning something new 😁 ....what kind of brush do you use for thin but rapid lines like the ones you painted with gouache to create the leaves on the ground at 1:32:50 ?
Is it only a matter of keep your brushes ultra clean every time in order to keep a sharp edge?
I have some round type brushes but they struggle to keep paint and also to keep a sharp tip.
What are the main features of a good brush for that kind of work in your opinion?
Many thanks.
It's a Lebenzon hand made rigger brush

Hello I'm new to your channel. I just love your work. I looked at the brushes you recommend and gosh I just can't afford them. Do you have any other suggestions for something affordable? Also I'm looking for an outdoor small sack or bag to use for plein Aire travel. What do you suggest? You have maybe made other videos on these subjects. Send me to them. Please. Thank you so much for your time.
By the way, I live quite close to the painting you are doing today. Northern California is amazing and you're painting really shows it!! ❤. Thank you so much for your videos!!!
Thanks for your kind comments. Brushes - go with a synthetic brush - Princeton do loads that are imitation squirrel etc. If you have a limited budget, go with one versatile brush rather than multiple. Bag- I fit everything into a small backpack so I can walk further.
Hello, thanks for the fantastic video. I wanted to ask you about the brushes you have used, thanks again, greetings from Seville
The main one is a da vinci casaneo size 4
ありがとうございます!
Thank you so much Lilian!

Do you think you use neutral tint un a Big proporción?👍🏻 Shadows maybe looks like grey.
Sorry for the question and my English
I usually use neutral tint with another colour like a red or a blue
Harikasın...
Thanks very much!
Sorry not a fan of sponge method of doing path shadows, it seems unnatural looking. I would rather paint the shadows in with a brush.
Good idea. Many techniques for doing this.
