  • My first ride on the 3rd Generation 2020 KTM Superduke R.
    How does it compare to the previous gen? and could you daily ride, and even go touring on it?
    Enjoy!

    I’ve set the Orange dash as default, euro 5 compatible, still at euro 4.

    I thought I recognized those roads! The good old magic roundabout. I used to live there and bought my Superduke from the shop just up the road.

      That dreaded magic roundabout!! Had the pleasure of that on my driving test!

      @@SamVBikes Lucky you! The first time and it's like, what the f*** is this?!

      Haha! People in the UK can drive so well and handle roundabouts... let's add multiple roundabouts on one big roundabout!

    179bhp at the crank not the wheel. Yes you can float the front wheel with wheelie control on 😁

      It's 173rwhp here in Canada had it dyno prior to new exhaust system . 2019 has 153rwhp. It definitely has more than +3 HP.

    The bike amazing,it's only downfall steering dampener sucks! Nice little bikini fairing would be nice. Having the rpm around 4500 barely feel any vibration. KTM have done great job, last V-twin I had was 916 world of difference in refinement. Now due to covid-19 my bike was held up about 6 weeks Had to edit few too many beers last evening. Cheers from Canada. Lol

      I didn't really get chance to put the dampener to the test but agree that a bikini fairing would be nice!

    Nice
    Not tried gen 1or2 . I bought the MCN SD EVO last year longer term test bike . I’ve done a Europe tour earlier this year . Seat comfortable on short trips but i puts a air cushion on for long day riding . The evo active suspension works well and came with KTM panniers which turns out fits weeks-cloths no problem.
    So defo a touring capable bike . Only thing the gen 3 has a 200 rear tyre so can only get sport bias tyres so next set will drop to 190 .

      Great! I always tend to see the odd SDR on a trip which is great! Love that people can actually use them!

      Thank you! I had it booked last year to ride but then we went into a 2nd lockdown in the UK... as soon as it opens back up I'm going to get booking!

    I Have a '15 SDR. Is there a much noticeable difference? I know the specs, but until you ride one I can only ask.

    • @SamVBikes
      @SamVBikes  Před 3 lety +1

      The power feels very much the same, being the same torquey beast it always was. The thing that was an instant difference for me was how easy this one is to ride. I found the gen 2 to be pretty wild.. almost like you're trying to tame a wild horse haha. But this gen is easy to ride around town, comfortable, usable but still has that insane performance when you want it. You don't seem as leant over the front too so I felt it handled better too. Sorry if that's just cost you 15k haha!

    • @rwilko9525
      @rwilko9525 Před 3 lety +1

      They are wicked machines for sure. Mine hasn't cost me anything, i saw them upon release in 2014 and after 4 years I bought my dream bike. Seccond hand, dealer sold and traded with 2k on the clock. Lowered, exhaust, steering damper and tune etc... Previous owner spent a lot then traded it in. I couldn't resist, I love it. even now in the current market here in Australia, I would still get the price I paid for it. No doubt the new ones are better. For me the average hooligan using it for a weekend head straightener it's insane. Rear tyres only last a few rides and the cat scrapes the road sometimes, that's the only downfall.

    • @SamVBikes
      @SamVBikes  Před 3 lety

      Thats a cracking deal! If you're happy with yours being a weekend toy that pulls your face off, definitely keep it! Not worth upgrading, especially when it sounds like yours is a good fit for you! I'd only upgrade to the new one if you're looking for something that's a bit more user friendly day to day. The new one is the same beast, but just tamed a little. But I agree, they are awesome bits of kit! Never fail to get off one with a grin on my face!

    Did you ride it in street mode the entire time? You should try track mode ;)

    • @SamVBikes
      @SamVBikes  Před 3 lety +1

      I put it in sport mode half way through the vid which was a lot of fun!

    Why there’s no quickshift?

    • @SamVBikes
      @SamVBikes  Před 3 lety +2

      There is, but as its a KTM, you will have to spec it as an extra to get it. Normally in the tech pack option. This one had it fitted

    i've ridden the 1290 superduke. Best bike i've ever ridden. Handles great. But its just too stupidly fast. I've owned a zx12r that easily did a 300kmh but the power was still high up in the rev range. The superduke has so much torque down low. twist the throttle in any gear/ any rpm and it just hauls ass. it's a time machine

    • @SamVBikes
      @SamVBikes  Před 2 lety

      A time machine is the best way I've heard it being described! It's scary fast isn't it. An awesome bike
