Hi Kassie, I know that it is very unlikely that you will see this. However, I just watched this video with my daughter. I can help you to understand. A person with Schizophrenia typically has a symptom known as Anosognosia. This means that they do not believe that they are sick. For this reason, it is difficult to convince them that it is important for them to continue their medication. Also, whatever their delusions happen to be, they are VERY real to that person. You can NOT convince them otherwise, and it is futile to try. So, in this story, her delusions/halluccinations were: her mom's affair, the friendship with the young man who's bedroom she crawled into, etc. Her parents were not keeping a secret from her. She just would not believe anything they said if it was in opposition to her delusions. Unfortunately, this information comes from personal experience with my step-daughter.

As someone who has lived in mental health facilities my whole life, I can actually see how this is possible. I was admitted at the age of 10 and recently got out this year at the age of 19. I remember last time I hallucinated. It was two weeks ago. When you hallucinate, everything seems so real. I swore there was a bear in the bathroom, and I saw her cubs running in the hallway. I was so terrified that I barricaded my door and cried. The next morning I looked out my room and saw the bear. I was going to call 911 but the phone was to far away. So I approached the bear and realized it was just a towel. So, this being said, mental health really be like this.

I understand the story coz I have a family member that has schizophrenia. I won't mention his name though. His very sensitive yet very lovin but he believes and imagines things constantly almost everyday. He makes up stories that make him think that everyone is against him. It's honestly a sad story but I like that it was used in this story. It's hard getting him to take his medicine too yoh

Some allowances need to be made for the schizophrenia. It can be pretty debilitating. Schizophrenics can have trouble regulating their emotions and respond to situations inappropriately or in an extreme manner. Couple that with the anger, hostility, and compulsive behavior/lack of restraint that are also common symptoms and you get stories like this.
