I wish SNL would put the writer’s name in the description. It was a real murders row in ‘89 and it’d be awesome to know who was responsible for what. ❤
murderer's row
Probably a good bet that it was Lovitz himself.
On SNL the actors wanted to be in as many sketches as possible and in order to make that happen they wrote their own stuff...with themselves in the lead role of course.
It was up to Lorne Michaels to decide what he thot would work.
So if I'm betting, I'm betting Lovitz himself.
Brilliant work tho, isn't it?
murderer's row
Lovitz wrote it. The cast writes most of their own skits, they get help cleaning it up some from the writers, but the snl cast usually does it
Lovitzesque is the ancient craft of making people laugh uncontrollably even with a straight face. He’s one of the most underrated comedic actors in world history.
He is a bit of an asshole irl, but yeah, I absolutely agree...
He is Underrated af.
He was ALWAYS one of my favorite members of that Era SNL.
He had quite a few memorable sketches, but he did burn a few bridges whilst at SNL, just like Chevy Chase.
I always wonder, when someone says another is "underrated," who does all this under-rating?
Who underrated him?
Who: His high School drama teacher.
@ilduce5874 The guy starred on SNL and became very very famous for it and was critically praised by tons of fellow comics. Who exactly is underrating him?
The guys a fucking genius. One of the best character skits EVER!
Now I get it...
I saw the office usa
Season 4 finale

Somewhere in an alternate universe these two would be fantastic as Gomez and Morticia 🖤
Or as George Hamilton and Lauren Hutton in Zorro The Gay Blade
Masterfully done! Acting! Genius! Thank you!!!
How did I miss this? "Acting!" was a joke in high school theater class 😅
I dont get it.. pls enlighten me
@@akusakai2658 When somebody screwed up their lines repeatedly, somebody would finally yell "Acting!" like he did & everybody would crack up instead of being frustrated with them at having to hear their performance over & over.
Almost Pythonesque.
It is.
Totally.
The good old days, they used to commit to their characters back then
No it isn't.

The Basil Rathbone acting school.
The original title of the skit was “Narcissists in Love.”

I remember when this first came out over 25 years ago! so good!
Did Matt Berry base his whole career on this skit?
I'm dying of acting!
Who’s here because of The Office?
Wow this was an awesome skit! Great comedic chops by Glenn Close to fit in the script and keep up with Lovitz flawlessly. Obviously she's a brilliant actress but sometimes that doesn't transfer over well when a great actor hosts SNL.
I thought she was going to slip in some lines from her role as "Alex" in "Fatal Attraction." The hair was right!
Jon Lovitz when SNL had some good talent!!
my coworkers dont seem to like my impression of this.
“I’ve been using you to, further my career”. - Her
Astoria DuBois the FIFTH!!!!111 xD
With the added bonus of Phil's theatrical opening narrative this is a perfect comedic sketch.
There is one another guy who can do this skit. Father!!!!!!!! 🕺🏽
The best skit ever acted in the history of sketches.
Acting!!
Playing off the slaps as "Acting!" is brilliant.
I dont get it.. pls enlighten me
I never realized that Glen Close and Jon Lovitz have the same nose.
They don't.... Acting!
this is SO FUCKING FUNNY ARE YOU KIDDING ME
iiiiii wasnt even in. the. bed!
How?
Acting!
I love this. Definitely an overcooked ham.
Glenn Close out-acted Jon Lovitz in this!!!
Absolutely agree!
This sketch was absolute comedic art!
See boys and girls, In a time forgotten SNL was funny.
This was really good
so this is the inspiration for clayface in the harley quinn tv series.. jajaja GENIUS!
I happen to find this video after I heard it in The Office and I skipped exactly where he says "acting".
All this time thought I was quoting Michael Scott. But he was quoting this
brilliant comedy
Glenn Close needs to host again. I swear she must memorized the script or she’s a master card reader
She actually is reading the cards. If you pay close attention to her eyes, you'll know. Clearly, like you say, she's a master of this art
She also needs to be awarded several Oscars or I'm stopping watching any movies.
ACTING
time for a reboot..."Romeo and Juliet: The Senior Years"
ModelT08 they die as teens 🤔
Glenn is magic!!!
the office brought me here
The Office Ladies podcast.
BRILLIANT
Some of the jokes went right over the audience's head, IMO.
This is real talent, excellent acting, comedy with perfect timing.
Acting! Wonderful!
Oh I do appreciate the Othello reference.
Slapped thrice.
The irony of the skit is Phil Hartman was the world’s greatest actor ever.
Iconic!
LOL thespian

Lovitz is marvelous!!!
I can’t believe they didn’t to a move on this!
I love Snl
Lovitz has fulfilled any actors dream hes a genius

Make up your mind
Damn, Lovitz is amazing.
no i didn't 🤣😂🤣
“Make up your mind!”
Was that Glenn Close?!?
OMG I love both of them!!! ACTING!!!!
Had to show the wife what Michael and Holly are referencing
Glenn Close, you have earnings of $50,000,000 worldwide. You were born March 19th, 1947 in Greenwich, Connecticut; right now you are 72 years, 8 months, and 15 days old.
I always thought he'd do great to on Jeremy impersonation if he hasn't done it already 😂
Майкл скотт привел меня сюда
Jon lovitts even over acts to such an absurd degree.😅😅😅. "i was ACTING!"
COMEDY, ACTING!!!
lin manuel miranda really let himself go :/
Next time he hosts SNL, they should have him play the Master Thespian's long lost son.
John, Andy brags about killing everyone on a daily basis. That last one David. John, do you know what he did to David? I do.
Snl cmon guys we can do it
This is how they speak in Tuckson Arizonaaaaaaaaaaaaa
Throw back to when I did this with my friend couple months ago🥺💔
He graduated 😭😭
Cedric if you ever see this, Hiii it’s me Lobna 🥺💜
I know, Lovitz went into comedy for the chicks, yeah, that's the ticket!
good one!
Holy shit, Jon Lovitz was once funny!
Well, sort of anyway.
holy shit, there are people who don't think everything Lovitz does is hilarious. you guys need to get better taste.
Two words: Rat. Race.
this is my favorite scene of SNL since i am coming to america
😂😂 what does liking this scene and coming to America *unspecified* have to do with each other?
Hilarious mockery of the [fake] "craft".
Was Veronica Deane based on this performance?
For all I know
goodbye toby!
I wanted to like it, but I couldn't even crack a smile.
Cool. No one said you had to like it. We will all be okay
@Andrea1542 Are you sure? There's not too much trauma involved I hope...😆😆
