I am trying to bring you a new video art tutorial, split between my two channels and two loves, watercolour and oils. So each channel gets a new tutorial every fortnight Friday at 3 pm GMT.
My palette has changed once more as has my presentation of this tutorial. the palette is as follows. PALETTE
Sepia
Burnt Umber
Indian Red
Burnt Sienna
Raw Sienna
Yellow Ochre
Neutral Tint ( Daniel Smith)
Neutral Tint (Schminke)
Indigo
French Ultramarine Blue
Cobalt Blue
Phthalo Blue ( Windsor Blue)
Ultramarine Violet
Phithalo Green ( Windsor Green)
Cobalt Turquoise Teal
Magenta
Organic Vermillion
Trans Pyrrol Orange
Indian Yellow
Aureolin
The palette box is a cheaper version of a Holbein offering a 20-slot palette. If honest I have way more colours than if ever use. I often only use a few of these and a version of this palette with fewer slots would be better for most.
My brushes are mainly Rosemary and Co, Sable, and Synthetics.
My watercolour palette is as follows:

If you are making your own version of this painting, please do so and I'd be happy to look at it and comment. Please do remember that your version is to learn from and therefore not for resale, based on my, demonstration and source photo... Thank you for respecting that - Jak na to + styl
The sound is fixed, thank you! I don’t want you to think that was a major annoyance, I just popped out the other ear out and kept on listening. 😊 Thanks for all you do.
Hi Vanessa, without your comment it would have continues unchecked, so many thanks to you, cheers P
I would most definitely like to see more of these kinds of paintings! Just bought some hake brushes and have been having a bit of fun with them , would love to see more . Thank you!
Hi Olive, yes they are fun and I will definitely do more, cheers P
Oh yes yes...thanks from France .
Yet another one of my liking ended up looking beautiful. Thanks very much for you time and efforts
Hi John as always thank you for your kind comment, cheers P
Hi Paul
I really enjoy and appreciate your videos. I especially like that you occasionally make a mistake. More importantly, I like how you show how to correct things. So many CZcams artists seem to produce nothing but perfect work, which can be a little disheartening to watch.
And having just acquired a few tubes of gouache, I would certainly like to see a few videos from you demonstrating how you work with them.
Many thanks.
Hi there, well mistakes are mistakes and we all make them, so leaving those in and hopefully demonstrating to you how to rectify in my opinion can only be a win-win. cheers P
Oh, they’ll make mistakes but they edit them out, I bet. Nobody’s perfect.
Beautiful! You really know how to capture the stormy coastal light! Love these videos, thank you.
Jolly kind Rachel thanks, so glad you enjoy the content, cheers P
Excellent study. I loved it. Thank you. Would love to see more.
Great video. Would definitely like to see more hake videos and some with gouache.
That's good to know Neil, the will be on the menu, cheers P
I'm a beginner.. and I really enjoyed that demo. It's inspired me to give it a try. Thank you
Liked this very much and would love to see more similar videos.
I am glad Fran and thanks, there will be more, cheers P
I use a hake, but I had never thought to mix the colours with a smaller brush before loading up the hake. Great tip. Thanks!
Paul I absolutely love your tutorials. I continue to take tips and tricks from you and each time my paintings are just getting better and better. I have fell in love with Hake and Quill brushes. Allows me to stay loose which in the past was a str😅for me.
Enjoyed this one.
That is great to hear, cheers P
Beautiful ❤️ Thank you 😊
Thumbs up to see more .
Thank you John, watch this space lol, cheers P
Hey Paul, I love your videos and even though I just recently found you, I have learned so much. And being dyslexic makes it hard for teachers to teach me and usually hard for me to get things when others do so easy. Also, you're lookin great! I've only seen your older videos and you look as though you've went backwards in age a bit! Thank you for helping others to learn and keep doing art. It was the only subject, other than English that I was good at and loved. Probably the only reason I showed up to school until 10th grade.
Really glad you found the channel and your very kind words in your comment, dyslexia burdens us both up it seems. Enjoy your painting, cheers P
Lovely painting Paul and a great lesson on using a hake brush to it's maximum capabilities from the full use of the bristles for the sky to the more delicate use of the tip when applied gently. Yet again you've inspired me to try something new, thank you Paul. I'd love to see how you use gouache paints, if you have the time it would be interesting to see a comparison of the same scene (not necessarily this one) in watercolour and in gouache to see the difference in the two mediums.
Thank you Wendy and that is a lovely idea, I'll make that a plan soon, cheers P
How do we avoid the hake brush bristles getting clumped while painting?
What is the make and name of that green paint you used for the sea? Thanks
What are the colors in tubes you talked about at end?
Love the short studies, but honestly not interested in Gouache. Great beach scene!
Thank you, Kathryn, advance apologies for any Gouache that appear in the future cheers P
@@paulappswildlifeart Hey you do whatever you need to, you just asked for our opinion 😉 I’ll still follow you!
