I am trying to bring you a new video art tutorial, split between my two channels and two loves, watercolour and oils. So each channel gets a new tutorial every fortnight Friday at 3 pm GMT.
My palette has changed once more as has my presentation of this tutorial. the palette is as follows. PALETTE
    Sepia
    Burnt Umber
    Indian Red
    Burnt Sienna
    Raw Sienna
    Yellow Ochre
    Neutral Tint ( Daniel Smith)
    Neutral Tint (Schminke)
    Indigo
    French Ultramarine Blue
    Cobalt Blue
    Phthalo Blue ( Windsor Blue)
    Ultramarine Violet
    Phithalo Green ( Windsor Green)
    Cobalt Turquoise Teal
    Magenta
    Organic Vermillion
    Trans Pyrrol Orange
    Indian Yellow
    Aureolin
The palette box is a cheaper version of a Holbein offering a 20-slot palette. If honest I have way more colours than if ever use. I often only use a few of these and a version of this palette with fewer slots would be better for most.
My brushes are mainly Rosemary and Co, Sable, and Synthetics.
My watercolour palette is as follows:

If you are making your own version of this painting, please do so and I'd be happy to look at it and comment. Please do remember that your version is to learn from and therefore not for resale, based on my, demonstration and source photo... Thank you for respecting that

The sound is fixed, thank you! I don’t want you to think that was a major annoyance, I just popped out the other ear out and kept on listening. 😊 Thanks for all you do.

    Hi Paul
I really enjoy and appreciate your videos. I especially like that you occasionally make a mistake. More importantly, I like how you show how to correct things. So many CZcams artists seem to produce nothing but perfect work, which can be a little disheartening to watch.
And having just acquired a few tubes of gouache, I would certainly like to see a few videos from you demonstrating how you work with them.
    Many thanks.

Hi there, well mistakes are mistakes and we all make them, so leaving those in and hopefully demonstrating to you how to rectify in my opinion can only be a win-win. cheers P

Oh, they’ll make mistakes but they edit them out, I bet. Nobody’s perfect.

I use a hake, but I had never thought to mix the colours with a smaller brush before loading up the hake. Great tip. Thanks!

Hey Paul, I love your videos and even though I just recently found you, I have learned so much. And being dyslexic makes it hard for teachers to teach me and usually hard for me to get things when others do so easy. Also, you're lookin great! I've only seen your older videos and you look as though you've went backwards in age a bit! Thank you for helping others to learn and keep doing art. It was the only subject, other than English that I was good at and loved. Probably the only reason I showed up to school until 10th grade.

Really glad you found the channel and your very kind words in your comment, dyslexia burdens us both up it seems. Enjoy your painting, cheers P

Lovely painting Paul and a great lesson on using a hake brush to it's maximum capabilities from the full use of the bristles for the sky to the more delicate use of the tip when applied gently. Yet again you've inspired me to try something new, thank you Paul. I'd love to see how you use gouache paints, if you have the time it would be interesting to see a comparison of the same scene (not necessarily this one) in watercolour and in gouache to see the difference in the two mediums.
