All we can do is hope for the health of that bass
any of the strings can snap at any moment
I dunno, it definitely sounded sick.
Sending thoughts and prayers 🙏🏼
nah man that thing is fucking dead
…and that guys fingers
I wish more people knew about Casiopea.
Its insane the amount of amazing music they have. It’s like what, 40 albums?
I listen to them all the time but there’s always more.
everyday i listen or watch something regarding Casiopea, i'm more enticed to listen to it.
where should i start with them?
@@itsdokko2990mint jams and the debut 1979 album are pretty much essential. Their perfect live I and II albums are also fantastic. Makeup city is another one as well.
Pretty much everything in the 80's and before is great and at the worst, mid. There are some albums like 4×4 that are mostly mid but have one or two really good tracks like Chandelier.
All of their songs can grow on you with time though, give it all a chance. I love this band.
Oh people recognize them but have no idea who they are. For example, Mario Kart music is by large from their influence at large
Man I fucking love casiopea
I am always impressed how you can hear all these single notes in that frequency range.
Homie's got the treble way up lol
barabás tamás transcribed this, he could just be bullshitting us with the transcription, who knows
@@GeorgeCollier honest reply lol
Some notes I don't hear unless I look for them
@@GeorgeCollier based
I love this extremely cheery music that sounds like something out of Mario Kart contrasted with extreme playing that would make Tech Death guys wince.
Spot on!. Also notice some of the best bass players from tech death are jazz players, like Obscura's bassist or Sean Malone (R.I.P) from Cynic.
I thought this was a song made either for Mario Kart or Galaxy.
@@maurostrachwitz747well, Atheist always had great bassists, and their music, like Cynic’s, is pretty upbeat for a band that heavy. Though to be fair, it’s kinda hard to consider them and especially Cynic to actually be tech death (they’re more like tech thrash/death at most for me) because of how different their stuff sounds from almost every tech death-labeled band that emerged after the turn of the millennium.
@@maurostrachwitz747 Same thing about some drummers too, like Sean Reinert himself from Cynic (RIP). Or one of the early bass players from Opeth
* plays one of the greatest bass solos of all time*
The audience: 😐
Yeah the more impressive is that no one seem impressed. I mean, even if I heard thousands of awesome solos of all kind, they always give me goosebumps and I have to headbang
The thing is, there are so many great solos in Casiopea songs that this bass solo is not the only one, so I can understand why the audience wouldn't be cheering
We see the audience for like 0.5 seconds and we hear them cheer and stuff so idk what you mean, maybe they just wanna hear the solo
Japanese people tend to be like that
To my knowledge, it's just a cultural thing in Japan to not go crazy during a concert like people over here in the West might.
Every recording of Galactic Funk is pure gold... please do a Mint Jams "Midnight Rendezvous" too, the live version was so good.
I prefer the original version there’s just something special about the studio solo but the groove on the midnight jams version is brilliant
@@bingchilling7094 i totally agree, but the Jams version would make for a better George Collier video since we don’t have video of the studio version.
@@arcynic5404 indeed as that is the norm of this channel but I would love to see a transcription of the studio version I believe there aren’t any as of now in CZcams
@@bingchilling7094 My favorite recording of Midnight Rendezvous is either the original recording, 20th anniversary or the pegasus version where Tetsuo Sakurai and Issei Noro played it with acoustic instruments
What would the title for that be called? And who would it be focused on?
this man straightup just created a new universe with that solo
So nobody’s going to talk about those drums?
Yep guy’s destroying them👍
@@Stewartist1 whole wreckfest going on up in there
Yeah no the drum solo that happens before this bass solo is amazing as well
Akira Jimbo is an absolute maniac!
Akira Jimbo went silly on those drums for years
Drummer Akira Jimbo and keyboardist Minoru Mukaiya are no longer with the band, but are currently active together with Tetsuo Sakurai (the preceeding Casiopea bassist before Narucho) as Katsushika Trio.
Casiopea still going strong after finding new members. Drummer (Yoshinori Imai) is quite a beast.
THANK YOU!!!
Thank you for this, I would have never found out about this naturally.
I've never played bass before and I grew calluses on my fingers watching this
The bass grew a pickguard.
I like how different Yoshihiro Naruse is from the previous bassist: Tetsuo Sakurai. You can't really compare them because they both excel at bass in completely different ways.
Right? Tetsuo was way more funky and disco inspired. So good, but less about technicality and way more about groove. Yoshihiro is a technical master, employs way more techniques and off the wall ideas for solos, but when he writes it's a way more modern vibe to the music, way more jazz. I love them both
@@ProggishAnd he is CHOPPER
Tetsuo is closer to my heart. Yoshihiro is too agressive.
@@ProggishNaruse's modern approach feels weird to me because is way more older than Sakurai
Tetsuo was clean funky perfection
Ooh, more Casiopea unnaturally creating bangers!
Casiopea is one of my favorite bands, they are so fun, versatile, technically proficient and have the skill to show of when they want to
fr
If you like that, Google Cassie0pia
Oh hey, more Casiopea! WOOO
That Bass was only 2 weeks away from retirement…😢😅😂
Nah that titles crazy
Listening to these songs, it just reminds me of the hours I spent playing gran turismo 4, running in Time attack mode.
Cassiopea is incredible
If you don’t know them already, check out T-Square. Their guitarist, Masahiro Ando, composed like half of Gran Turismo’s music.
@@acetylen42 T-Square are a fantastic group! Hit and Run from Sports is one of my go to tracks at the gym.
I recommend Naniwa Express too. Sublime group.... although Casiopea will always by numero Uno in my heart. I can still remember the first time I listened to Eyes of Mind from the album Make Up City for the first time.
I really like that after those sort of solos; when you hear them all play together again, you hear that individual instrument more with all the others as a part of that song.
Casiopea! Getting the recognition they deserve. Props to Yoshihiro Naruse a very talented bassist indeed
Casiopea always plays with some of the best players in Japan, particularly this guy. What an amazing band tho
“Slappin da Bass!” - Paul Rudd I Love You Man
The tabs for this is more impressive thing than a bass line, honestly
When the bass owes you money
_Where's my money?!_
Casiopea are great. I just found out about them last year and i cant stop listening. So much great music from them.
Thanks... Just thank you so much for uploading this. I already loved when you were uploading Casiopea transcriptions but now it's the legendary bassist Naruse Yoshihiro san! Thank you!!
Love the content !
Proposal: Put the video in a smaller window above the transcribed score.
Part of what makes base slapping so enjoyable is watching the base getting slapped. But the transcription in this video covers it mostly since base slapping is so low (pun intended).
Base
or simply focus on the bass in those specific scenes
I love Casiopeia
Mr Yoshihiro has always impressed me with his music 🎶 🎵 👌 😍.. at that age as well😮🎉
I would like to see Ryan Martinie jam with Casiopeia's bassist, it would probably create a bass singularity.
Shieeeeeeeeeet! That was monstrous. I just discovered Casiopea and this is one of the most over the top bass solos I've ever heard.
I love seeing Casiopea content keep it up
As insane as this is, I'm more impressed by the freaking notes !
Here when the title was "I sure hope that bass is over 18" lmaooo
yeah idk about that title dawg 💀
Yes! Love Casiopea! (They're always this awesome btw)
Great to see casiopea here! ❤

The ultimate in chordal bass.
of course its casiopea. they're incredible
hell yeah, casiopea!! I found this band 2 months ago and I'm obsessed
Piece of advice: get really good headphones and listen to them on CD, Vinyls or FLAC. Perfection.
I love casiopea 😭😭😭 best addition to the jazz playlist
That bass deserves compensation.
Tetsuo Sakurai will always be my bass idol and favorite Casiopea bassist, but Naruse is a fantastic bassist as well and I think he fits Casiopea’s later sound excellently
Amazing! Utterly amazing 🤩
CASIOPEAA!!!!! YOU HAVE NO IDEA HOW MUCH I LOVE THEM DUDE THANK YOU FOR THIS VIDEO
Glad to finally see Casiopea get love. It's about time.
Guys he changed the title it’s alright
Those band is insane. Please show more of them
For the first time, I watched one of your videos and was like: "hell yeah I love casiopea!"
YES CASIOPEA
Crazy how he has to buy a new bass every time he performs this piece
It's so weird how much of the stuff I like ends up on this channel and then I wonder if I like that stuff because I saw it here or I subscribed because I liked that you are doing the stuff I like. I like it either way.
ayyy always happy to see more casiopia
I will always have a soft spot for Sakurai, but my GOD Yoshihiro Naruse is so fking scary! Aside from that, I love how he attacks it, and after that it seems like he really doesn't wanna touch the bass xD
narucho is a beast lol that bass is barely alive after that solo
I understand how your channel works. It's really great and I love it. It seems like such a common problem that people mistake that you transcribe the music. Maybe you credit at the top of the description on top of the one you do in the video. Might help.
It’s in the description
i literally teared up a bit the first time i watched this it’s so good
Was surprised to see CASIOPEA in the recommends, lets gooooo
I know nothing about video editing so I might be asking for too much, but it would be amazing if you could squeeze the score entirely under the video so nothing gets cropped out.
I live in Japan now, and I was a bit disillusioned with some of Japan's music at first when I moved and wanted to explore it more, because I'm a big rock and alternative fan (their variety of rock and alternative is just quite a bit different than what I listen to in western music, who knows maybe I just haven't found it yet), but I'm convinced now it's just that their special variety of jazz fusion is way more strongly the japan music scene's strong suit and their gift to the world of modern music. I've gone too long without appreciating and enjoying it. It totally makes sense too, their love for technicality and harmony, which I feel bleeds into other genres in Japan too, the "Jazziness". I even had the opportunity to play piano in a group here in a Christian worship music setting, and all the Japanese worship songs I learned even had a strong jazzy flavoring to them (way more interesting chords than what I'd play in the US; I even had to put in some extra time listening and preparing to get a handle on some more colorful chords I heard in the songs, something I'd never have to do in America with church music).
Nice. Now I'm just imagining the Wii Sports Resort theme but as a hymn.
@@o00nemesis00o lol. It's interesting, old western hymns were largely the melodies of popular tunes people knew, songs people would sing in pubs and folk songs. Just whatever people would best remember. So, contextualized for today, that wouldn't be an unlikely candidate, if the same way of thinking were used.
I get hyped whenever I see casiopea live stuff on here
Looking at the caption and the thumbnail I was sure it was Casiopea stuff. Love this guys.
Woah! It would be a crime, if bass was underage..
Cute and funny tho
What I love about these bass solos is that they are not just noise to flex technical skills, but that they incorporate rhythm and driving groove, unlike those obnoxious guitar solos from those heavy rock 80s bands
Casiopea is just gold
casiopea is such a good band aaaaaahhhh. you can really recognise them by their style of music!!!
Anyone think this sounds like a Mario Kart song?
Nintendo composers where influenced by this band, and even worst this band was influenced by car racing in the late 70's.
FIRST TO COMMENT LESGOOOO
Casiopea is S tier for sure, it still blows my mind that music this wild exists.
Finally! Casiopeia are incredible!
i love casiopea.
CASIOPEA YES! From my favorite album of theirs too lol
I remember the first time I listened to them. Blew my mind
Right On!!! I always wondered which band played the music in the sonic games.
Man they rocking hard that menu/lobby soundtrack music 👌
the harmonics on that bass are driving me insane. I love it
Sounds like menu music for Sega GT 2000
And that is damn awesome!
love casiopea!
I discovered Casiopea like a year ago. They’re amazing
mad title fr
HE'S BACK WITH THE FUNKY BASS SOLO
Man.. Casiopea really does wonders with its jazz.
Bruh, I love Casiopea so much
god flippin dang. casiopea.
George collier is my favorite Japanese Jazz Fusion meme channel
Madman on the bass. 🤟🏽🤟🏽🤟🏽🤟🏽🤟🏽 gotta love it.
"Damn bass, who played that epic solo on you?"
Bass: "I just fell down the stairs, I swear...."
Man, he absolutely MURDERED that bass
finaly some casiopea !
Love this band
saw casiopea and it immeatdly all made sense
Oh man, I haven’t listened to CASIOPEA for a couple of years… there’s no other band or sound like theirs! 🤯🎼🎵🎶
this is some serious gran turismo music
Forget the musician the dude that tabbed that out is a boss.
Jpop basslines just hit so hard... literally in this case
Listening to this song, I always loved the base. I had no idea this is what was actually happening.
Casiopea is sooooo damn good ❣️
And the crowd goes mild!
I've rewatched that solo in the original video so many times. It is truly unholy.
This is genius!
I need to add this to my CZcams playlist for music, where it will be removed in some months or years in the future, and I will never know what it was when I go back to my playlist. 😢
2003 - that made me nostalgic.
I didn't knew Casiopea back then, but I wish I would have known them by then and seen them live, if possible.
Casiopea’s GOATed
