    Finally got one of the presso iprimi rods. Got the 502 model (only weighs 58grams)which casts 0.5-3grams. Was pleasantly surprised that it was not a noodle, excellent recovery and perfect for jigging. Fished a small river and landed a few grayling over 1lb. Put some of my more expensive rods to shame.

    @Henry-xh8ec Před 3 lety +1

    Victor, I agree with what you said about the daiwa presso. The 6' is a very slow recovery rod. I use my two 6' rods mainly for small trout with small spinners and jerkbaits. I use my two 6'6" ones for throwing small ultralight crankbaits. I use my two 7' ones for float fishing 1' gulp minnows and honey worms. You are correct in that they are not good jigging rods. I don't think they are very sensitive rods. There are much better rods out there for jigging. But the presso is a fun rod to fish. Even a small one pound fish feels like a monster on these rods.

    I have a 6'6" Presso (pack rod) and it does the UL to Light I need with 1/16 oz jigs and micro/mini crank baits. And, of course, 00, 0 and 1 size spinners. Does surprisingly well with small Phoebe, Kastmaster and Cleo spoons. Very pleased with it; but I agree it is not a UL rod. I have a Lews TLC2000 and 8 pound J-braid w/6# fluoro leader. And that's not UL either. ;-). Though it still casts a 1/80th oz Mule jig with a Gulp minnow or grub well enough for kayak fishing. It's the rod & reel I keep in my SUV at all times with a little chest pack or lures and tackle.

    Great video. Love how you compared most of the presso rods, especially to the travel rods. Have you tried the 11’? Would love to hear your opinion. I have the 11 and 7’ travel. 11 is definitely too front heavy but I used it to catch largemouth bass. Caught a few in to 10-11” and able to lift it up to the banks. Need to use the travel rod, it should be a better bass rod, no?

    • @ifishcatfish
      @ifishcatfish  Před 3 měsíci

      travel rod is a bass rod, yes. The 11 footer is too stiff and heavy... its a good 11 foot rod but no longer ultralight tackle..

    • @ifishcatfish
      @ifishcatfish  Před 3 lety

      I haven't seen any. I have a couple from aliexpres that are total trash. Even daiwa presso is horrible. The best thing to do is buy a really short 5 foot ultraligh, 2 piece, and just fold it in 2 and hope it fits. But the 4 piece rods are always trash. Although, to be fair, i have never tried a travel rod over $60. Im sure the high end ones will be better..

      @2musiclover534 Před 3 lety

      @@ifishcatfish Well....maybe commercially. But I built a 3 piece 6 1/2 feet rod off a high end 3wt fly rod and it has the similar power as the Abu Garcia Eradicator. Crazy sensitivity. And short enough, for me, to be called a travel rod.

  • @2musiclover534
    @2musiclover534 Před 3 lety

    When you say the Presso UL Travel 4 piece is medium power, do you really mean that? Generally medium is 6-12 lbs. I actually have that and would not think it comes close to a 6-12 lbs line class rod. Curious. Thanks.

    • @ifishcatfish
      @ifishcatfish  Před 3 lety

      Yes, it is a true Medium power rod. I compared it to several Medium power rods like SHimano Teramar for example, and it bends exactly as a slow action shimano Teramar Medium power

    I called Daiwa and they told me that the Presso Rods will remain part of it line-up and all the sizes should start showing up in early to mid January. Have you used the Daiwa Laguna rod? The cheaper cousin at $32 which I have had good success especially the 7' footer with the Kast King Demon 2000 throwing little Cleo's for trout and Salmon? Your videos are very relaxing as one of the commenters said below.

    • @ifishcatfish
      @ifishcatfish  Před 3 lety

      it looks and feels much worse. Blank has slower recovery and is more wobbly. Its heavier. Has bigger thicker guides. The daiwa presso has Minima guides that look and work really well. I know it costs half the price, but if I can't afford the presso i would buy the shakespeare Micro series, 7' Light, which has much faster recovery than the Laguna

Inside will be same gears and body as in luvias, but with the plastic bushings replaced with bearings. I think the luvias looks better and its lighter. I like the soare though, will prolly jump on that
