Same for me. I started looking into things and was like......omg I'm wasting my time. Some things I didn't even have to look into. I would just sit at the meetings thinking, "I have heard this talk and this scripture SEVEN MILLION TIMES. I was over it. Started feeling brainwashed.
It's crazy that Witnesses are constantly drilled on the need to systematically rip apart other religions... but only a tiny percentage of them ever think to take even a glance at the history of Watchtower. One step outside of the bubble, and the whole facade comes crashing down.
Dwina reminds me of a nice JW sister I befriended during my freshman year of college (yeah, I broke the rules). I haven't spoken to her in years and it made me think of her for a second (and hope she found TTATT). Thanks so much for sharing your experience. I literally smiled at how many similarities there were to my own exit story. I was actually in the Portuguese congregation in my home state at the time of my fade. Even though I felt bad (and was shamed) for not starting any bible studies while there, I'm so glad I didn't effectively ruin the lives of others by convincing them to join a cult. My dad is also not a JW (mom's still in and we haven't spoken in years). When he found out I left, he was ecstatic. He told me that he had been praying for me for years that I would find my own way. i was with a brother today an elder 90 years old was a congregation servant when i came in in the early 6os .even he confided that he finds the current mags have boring contents depressing cover pictures.thats the second elder of long standing that has made this observation to me this week..there are deep cracks in the org.more to come??

The theme then was about the TRUTH and it specifically mentioned in the outline that the Truth never changes. That's the time I was able to piece together valuable information that I had before about the REAL truth. The Watchtower has been CHANGING the "Truths" for their own lies, deceits and con. I was an Elder for almost 20 yrs, been a Regular Pioneer with my wife and Daughter and Son. All of us are already awake on how the snake's oil salesmen are these Watchtower organization are. I am reaching out now to all of my friends and family who know me inside out that I will not make a decision based on a whim or emotions. This organization is FALSE, DECEITFUL and MISLEADING. If a JW who is currently reading this just ask some critical questions like: - Why 1914? (Check all historical facts about 607 BCE) - How is the Governing Body selected? Who appoints them? - Why buy a fancy new Bethel HQ in Warwick when the end is REALLY near? - Where is their spiritual heritage? (When they keep on changing their doctrines and masked it as new light) - What is Beth Sarim ... you will find out for yourself that you are being duped. I left the organization in 1993 and I am the happiest man on earth, being free is important, not to get up during the weekend on the morning to go to field service is a blessing because I can relax on Saturday and Sunday, have my cup of coffee, and have two days off is very entertaining for me, also thinking I don t have to go to the boring meeting on Sunday Afternoon, ha ha it is an adventure my life.

He claims GB doesn't ignore the masses. If you can send him the direct link to that video, it will prove the point that we were just mere nothing to the GB. Thank you Marcus, Dwina is beautiful. One of my problems is preaching to others untruth. I came to a point where I just couldn't do that. I cant count the thousands of people that I read Matt 24 "This generation will by no means pass away until all these things occur". I preached with complete conviction. I love you two! I've been out of the organization for over 18 years. It has taken me 10 of those years to establish a career as a nurse and find the real truth about my relationship with Jesus and Jehovah. It's not an easy path but so worthwhile. You both are so beautiful, intelligent, articulate, and have such a heart for speaking out courageously. You have a joy and just radiate happiness. Sending you love. I pray God restores those "lost years" in only the way HE can!

I was studying with them. I stopped the study because they couldnt explain the 1914. Three of them together tried to explain the date and none of them made any sense. I kept saying to them that I dont understand it. Then they told me they would send me videos about the 1914. It has been 3 months I still havent received anything. So I stopped meeting with them. They called and texted I never answered. My mom is a JW. She wants me to get in this mess.

OMG, not being able to see the forest through the trees is how current JW’s are living. I pioneered for about 5 years, and I really wish I could go back to every door I knocked on and just apologize. A biblical term for research would be TEST THE SPIRITS! Once you line up scripture and it's prophecies with historical evidence you'll be shocked and amazed at what we are up against. What changed me was things I was seeing (such as the disfellowshipping and then the abuse of children). Another thing is that some JWs don't like to hear anything negative about JWs even if it's the truth. They feel that others are always lying on them. And the way they treat and badmouth people of other faiths and trying to keep you from non JWs, especially family members. I was criticized because I went to be with a sick daughter instead of attending a meeting. In other words, turn my back on my child because she's not a JW. Or if you have a financial need, they want you to go to these non JW family members, but don't have anything else to do with them. I also had a problem with "nosey people"...you don't need to know why I was not at a meeting. And don't compare me to someone else. I haven't given a letter and don't plan to....will just "fade" away.
Just disappear and do not give them the chance to embarrass you in front of the other JW's at the KH. They are not worth you feeling bad about what they are wrong at. They will DF any way, so let it be, and you go on and live a happy life.
40 years ago, there were people dressed up in biblical costumes in front of Bethel headquarters claiming to be the ancient worthies, and they wanted to know why they were not being accepted. Maybe they wanted the keys to their house?

I left...planned my leave to avoid being disfellowshipped. My mom is still working to get that done so that the rest of my family will leave me but even at this point that doesn't make a difference. The key with this organization is DOING THE RESEARCH. My first red flag was that this organization is anti-research. You must use JW sources and materials to gain biblical knowledge. I was like???!!! No... My first issue was birthdays and holidays. Yes, I know some are rooted in Paganism BUT with regard to birthdays I asked my grandmother why we celebrated anniversaries and graduations HEAVILY as an organization but not a birthday? She referred to two birthday incidents in the Bible as well as noting that Jesus did not celebrate his birthday so why should we? My answer was, all of that is nice but WHY SHOULDNT WE? It may not have been as important to mention back then as it was harder to keep track of a birth. Cars result in accidents and deaths sometimes too but we are driving still. Flaky

I can't bring my mind to believe the Trinity, however when u read the New Testament KJV it do appear to reference Jesus as God or a god. Than I started my research, especially after I received the NWT in 2013 and felt weird about using the NWT which the scriptures have been changed. I have a Emphatic Diaglott bible from the watchtower bible and tract society, 1942 Edition. In this bible John 1:1 says the word Jesus is God... Dwina, you got nothing to apologise for. You was just as much deceived by the watchtower as the other true believing J dubs. The main thing is you can use your experiences in the org to extend help to others who are ready to receive that help. I pioneered for 13 years. Now I'm realizing this religion is a business disguising under religion. I am out; no longer attending meeting. I continue to research them and its shocking.
Same for me. I started looking into things and was like......omg I'm wasting my time. Some things I didn't even have to look into. I would just sit at the meetings thinking, "I have heard this talk and this scripture SEVEN MILLION TIMES. I was over it. Started feeling brainwashed.
It's crazy that Witnesses are constantly drilled on the need to systematically rip apart other religions... but only a tiny percentage of them ever think to take even a glance at the history of Watchtower. One step outside of the bubble, and the whole facade comes crashing down.

Dwina reminds me of a nice JW sister I befriended during my freshman year of college (yeah, I broke the rules). I haven't spoken to her in years and it made me think of her for a second (and hope she found TTATT). Thanks so much for sharing your experience. I literally smiled at how many similarities there were to my own exit story. I was actually in the Portuguese congregation in my home state at the time of my fade. Even though I felt bad (and was shamed) for not starting any bible studies while there, I'm so glad I didn't effectively ruin the lives of others by convincing them to join a cult.
My dad is also not a JW (mom's still in and we haven't spoken in years). When he found out I left, he was ecstatic. He told me that he had been praying for me for years that I would find my own way.

i was with a brother today an elder 90 years old was a congregation servant when i came in in the early 6os .even he confided that he finds the current mags have boring contents depressing cover pictures.thats the second elder of long standing that has made this observation to me this week..there are deep cracks in the org.more to come??
You both are truly intelligent individuals. Same as Dwina, I have almost the same experience. I was researching for my Public Talk part during the District Convention (as it was called before). The theme then was about the TRUTH and it specifically mentioned in the outline that the Truth never changes. That's the time I was able to piece together valuable information that I had before about the REAL truth. The Watchtower has been CHANGING the "Truths" for their own lies, deceits and con.
I was an Elder for almost 20 yrs, been a Regular Pioneer with my wife and Daughter and Son. All of us are already awake on how the snake's oil salesmen are these Watchtower organization are. I am reaching out now to all of my friends and family who know me inside out that I will not make a decision based on a whim or emotions. This organization is FALSE, DECEITFUL and MISLEADING.
If a JW who is currently reading this just ask some critical questions like:
- Why 1914? (Check all historical facts about 607 BCE)
- How is the Governing Body selected? Who appoints them?
- Why buy a fancy new Bethel HQ in Warwick when the end is REALLY near?
- Where is their spiritual heritage? (When they keep on changing their doctrines and masked it as new light)
- What is Beth Sarim
... you will find out for yourself that you are being duped. Young ones are taken advantage at to serve free at Bethel, construction etc... forsaking their right of education and careers.

Dwina, the lie about 607 was a big thing for me too. I thought, what else are they lying about. Don't beat yourself up, we were all hypnotized at those meetings. Anger is typical, like the stages of grief.
I left the organization in 1993 and I am the happiest man on earth, being free is important, not to get up during the weekend on the morning to go to field service is a blessing because I can relax on Saturday and Sunday, have my cup of coffee, and have two days off is very entertaining for me, also thinking I don t have to go to the boring meeting on Sunday Afternoon, ha ha it is an adventure my life.

I cant count the thousands of people that I read Matt 24 "This generation will by no means pass away until all these things occur". I preached with complete conviction. It breaks my heart that I lied to so many. There are so many flip flops and things that just don't register. I believe the bible every word with all my heart. I love you two! I've been out of the organization for over 18 years. It has taken me 10 of those years to establish a career as a nurse and find the real truth about my relationship with Jesus and Jehovah. It's not an easy path but so worthwhile. You both are so beautiful, intelligent, articulate, and have such a heart for speaking out courageously. You have a joy and just radiate happiness. Sending you love. I was studying with them. I stopped the study because they couldnt explain the 1914. Three of them together tried to explain the date and none of them made any sense. I kept saying to them that I dont understand it. Then they told me they would send me videos about the 1914. It has been 3 months I still havent received anything. So I stopped meeting with them. They called and texted I never answered. My mom is a JW. She wants me to get in this mess.

A biblical term for research would be TEST THE SPIRITS! Once you line up scripture and it's prophecies with historical evidence you'll be shocked and amazed at what we are up against.

What changed me was things I was seeing (such as the disfellowshipping and then the abuse of children). Another thing is that some JWs don't like to hear anything negative about JWs even if it's the truth. They feel that others are always lying on them. And the way they treat and badmouth people of other faiths and trying to keep you from non JWs, especially family members. I was criticized because I went to be with a sick daughter instead of attending a meeting. In other words, turn my back on my child because she's not a JW. Or if you have a financial need, they want you to go to these non JW family members, but don't have anything else to do with them. I also had a problem with "nosey people"...you don't need to know why I was not at a meeting. And don't compare me to someone else. I haven't given a letter and don't plan to....will just "fade" away.
Just disappear and do not give them the chance to embarrass you in front of the other JW's at the KH. They are not worth you feeling bad about what they are wrong at. They will DF any way, so let it be, and you go on and live a happy life.
I sent in a letter and they asked me to retract my disassociation. I retracted it. Still don't have plans to go back.

I left...planned my leave to avoid being disfellowshipped. My mom is still working to get that done so that the rest of my family will leave me but even at this point that doesn't make a difference. The key with this organization is DOING THE RESEARCH. My first red flag was that this organization is anti-research. You must use JW sources and materials to gain biblical knowledge. I was like???!!! No... My first issue was birthdays and holidays. Yes, I know some are rooted in Paganism BUT with regard to birthdays I asked my grandmother why we celebrated anniversaries and graduations HEAVILY as an organization but not a birthday? She referred to two birthday incidents in the Bible as well as noting that Jesus did not celebrate his birthday so why should we? My answer was, all of that is nice but WHY SHOULDNT WE? It may not have been as important to mention back then as it was harder to keep track of a birth. Cars result in accidents and deaths sometimes too but we are driving still. Flaky
