How heartless can you be to lie to people then turn around and lay them off with little or no notice? But it seems to me that there are more "awake" people at Bethel than I thought there were. They're starting to see the hypocrisy of this man made organization. I hope some of those individuals are making their way outside the organization and reclaiming their lives.

Hopefully, because so many of them give up everything for The Society, give them their time and energy and fucking youth! They work for nothing, they work their nuts off, live in shoeboxes and when they leave or they are kicked out they are left with nothing no careers, no PENSION, no redundancy severage package. Why cant WT give them something to soften the blow? Help them get jobs elsewhere, or convert some of their properties, KHs or some of the HOTELS THAT THEY OWN into rooms for the Bethel people that they have made homeless? They are utter dicks, I hope they burn in hell - shame I dont believe in hell

By the way brother, I want you to know the great service you have done for us waking up witnesses. After my "Armageddon" began inside the organization I went straight to my computer and began searching for WT/JW information from so-called apostates, in reality activists And you were the first activist, if I may call you, to watch on you tube about 8 months ago. And everything you said made sense. I knew you were an honest, sincere, truthful type of brother. Thank you for your service by your CZcams videos. God bless you

It is sad for those that gave up marriage and having children for this organization. We had an elderly couple in the congregation I attended that had been missionaries in a foreign country for 25 years. They came back to the US to care for his aging mother till she passed. They stayed here and pioneered. The wife told me one day in field service that her husband kept telling her one day they would have children but it never happened. She too would dote on babies at the hall and in field service, just cried because she wanted children so bad. Her husband unexpectedly died and she ended up in a nursing home and died from Alzheimer"s. I always thought, how sad.

Hey Marcus. It's refreshing to hear news via someone who has directly experienced it. I saw another video where the 'change' talk that you refer to was played. I couldn't believe that the speaker even conceded that old people might have to face some hard facts if they don't get moved to the upstate location. I as stunned by his audacity and complete lack of compassion. These people will have no money and nothing to fall back on except perhaps the charity of other witnesses. Thank you so much for sharing. I wonder how they are all faring now.

I am so happy that Watchtower let me go. I realized in the mid 1990's that there were issues at Bethel that surprised me entirely. The absolute materialistic attitude that was on full display was disgusting. The way the leadership conducted themselves was appalling. Lording it over others. Pompous and narcissistic attitudes prevailed.
With reviewing your video, I saw what these "Governing Body" members ended up as. Instead of encouraging me, they labelled me, that I was extremely "limited". Twenty years later, I have a career making 6 figures. For me, I took their crap and proved them wrong.
Now they state that I should quit my job and be-grade my type of work. I plainly ignore them. If young people came to me and asked me about Bethel, I would discourage it. I would tell them that you have more to offer than what Bethel could do for you.
If you like listening to talk, then you will no doubt be disappointed in the end. Remember, talkers like to talk. Watchtower leadership is a talker, not a doer. Learn a skill and never look back. Enjoy what you do.

The disregard for marriage and a woman's right to expect that she will get to have children is a problem they've never dealt with fairly. I was married in 1972, and because Armageddon was right around the corner, clearly published to occur in 1975, we held off. By 1976, when I brought up the subject, my husband, turns out to never wanting a family. Impending doom was a convenient way to get his way without being honest with me. You know what this made me feel like. Very used. So, I can thoroughly understand the disappointment of sisters who have been likewise deprived of fulfillment. Breaks my heart.

Four years later we separated and divorce, I left the cult and raised my son by my standards. He is a graduate of NC A&T State University , got two degrees, one in physics and one in applied mathematics. He now works in clinical trials and research in Cancer and Leukemia for DUKE University. He married a wonderful girl who is a nurse and they have three children. Look at all I would have missed if I stayed in!!!! Thank you Jesus for setting me straight and loving me just as I am. Today I teach Bible study and help people learn their Bible for their self. Love to all😊

About 10 years ago, four family members, two couples, at Bethel decided after approx. 15 years of service that they needed to leave because they were getting up in years and knew there was NO security. They all left around their 50's and have been working non-stop to try to create a financially stable life. One told me that she and her husband will likely never get to retire but likely will have to work as long as they are able.

I went back to my training and had to reexamine the entire Bible (non NWT). At first it was to find what I had missed but as a result I found relationship instead of religion. The thing about Robert is that if you haven't fully woken up and done personal research to see for yourself, the truth about the Org then some of what he says almost makes sense. I have been tempted to comment on his videos but it's pointless. He still believes them to be truth. They were teaching heretical and apostate doctrine long after their supposed appointment in 1919. No god has ever communicated with them directly let alone through Holy Spirit. If he had, they would have had the same truth all of these years with no need for New Light.

Marcus - Great job and discussion. I was a little surprised at how vocal some of the reactions were by Bethel family members to the changes at Bethel, but I probably shouldn't be surprised at all. When the Governing Body arrangement was instituted back in the 1970s, it was no less than a hostile take-over! I certainly won't be reading your experience in any Watchtower publications anytime soon. :) Anyways, I have story to relate regarding layoffs. I know many of the folks involved in this situation, including the CEO and know enough of the situation to know its all true. It was also announced in the company's newsletter when it occurred.... Back around 2009, I was working for a company of about 4,000 employees here in the US. Although the great recession had begun, the impact hadn't fully hit us yet. There were about 100 new employees that had just gone through their new employee training and were getting ready to start working, when the CEO had to announce that there would be layoffs. This came as a shock as I had worked there for a long time and never heard of this happening prior. But, what made this situation so very different was the way the CEO handled it. The CEO announced that being at the bottom of the seniority list, the 100 new employees would be laid-off. However, prior to the announcement, the CEO had his staff contact all of the similar type businesses in the region and managed to get jobs for everyone of those individuals being laid-off with the promise that he would hire them back, when conditions improved, if they wanted to return. The CEO kept his word and re-hired about half of those employees when conditions had started to get better. The other half were happy with their new jobs and decided not to come back. Now, I'll grant you that this experience may be somewhat out of the norm for what occurred during the recession. But if you knew the kind of guy the CEO I worked for was, you would understand. Oh and remember this business is a "worldly" company, a part of Satan's system.........Somehow, I don't think my experience will be heard any JW conventions or read about in any Watchtower publications either.....lol......And the Watchtower has the nerve to say regarding working at Bethel, that Jehovah is the greatest employer in the world.....I beg to differ. As always, thanks Marcus.

Truly amazing story I served at bethel back in 94-96. But certainly not surprised how this is playing out. As you repeatedly said, "they are just men" not inspired of god. I remember sitting across from Br.Barbor chewing with his month open at lunch and his terse remarks and thought these guys are not any different from a cantankerous neighbor I once had.
Though I did like comments from brother Dan Sydlik about getting promoted or used in other ways at bethel you have to please your overseer in the department your in to get 'ahead'. But in my words kiss ass to a sniveling jerk who happens to be your supervisor. I also liked Brother Wall who seemed genuinely concerned for my decision to leave bethel back in 96.
Hey bro keep you Chin up and move on from this and all religions until 'god' comes and tells you which one to follow.
But as for me and my family we will serve no one at this time until 'god' makes himself known directly.
    Best wishes

would allow them to transition into the "real world". I am sure that some of those that had special skills... law degree or other higher end skillset were kept. Remember - there is no retirement plan for JW's. My parents have been shunning me for a few years, and now that they are older they are coming around and making arrangements. They realize that their only adult daughter will be the one to take care of them.

I worked my whole life for my family until I was disfellowshiped for stupid reasons . long story. it's not been easy for me either. I hope you get ahead in life. I'm trying as you are to expose this cult. brotherly love Bryan bond

I worked at my previous company for 7 years. I was laid off in June 2009, but was given a check (lump sum) for 15 weeks of pay, six months of continued medical/dental/vision insurance and job search services. I also had about $16K in my 401K which was gone by May 2010 because I still had to pay my mortgage. But the bethelites who are let go have nothing! Yet, I am hearing that JWs are told to cut back on secular work. One would be a fool to do so. They will not take care of you! I am not giving up my job until I turn 66 and then I can retire. The reality is that one needs to have some money to fall back on.

They try to sell us the idea that Bethel is a spiritual paradise. I know you're being truthful because my best friend went to bethel in the late 90's and she was never the same. It seemed mysterious to me how she went to bethel Normal and came out "abnormal" and ended up being divorced at the end. Boy, I am glad I didn't get to go.

I remember 2 male friends who went to Bethel for a 3 month assignment....both came back after only 2 months. They seemed a little depressed and wouldn't talk about it. What the heck is going on there? These were 2 of the nerdiest super uber types. So I can't imagine they got into trouble...but hey...anything is possible.

It's so surprise to hear that an organization that claims to be. All about loving each other. That claim almost drawled me in. You exjws not only help those who are struggling with leaving or being out, you also help those who are looking for real love. After the sister heard I was listening to exjws on CZcams, she stopped calling. Thank you for that.

The analogy of "The Good Shepherd" always made me uncomfortable. The shepherd's job is to fleece you, have you killed and eat you. I wasn't going to mention what certain shepherds also do but there is no question that many former Bethalites are well and truly screwed.
Becoming a JW cost me a career in Chemistry, work I loved. I got out in time to salvage something of a career in electronics. Through hard work and a lot of luck, I landed on my feet.

Thanks for doing this great video Marcus. I always thought of how deluded the GB is in equating themselves to God. How sorry I am to our friends in bethel who are fooled to give their time and strength. They are treated like a gum, after being chewed on and used all the sweetness and are benefited with the good scent, they will just be spitted out anywhere. I sincerely hope all the best for you and that you continue to make these wonderful and enlightening videos.

I enjoyed you're descriptive style. Its too bad that it had to take this level of bad treatment to awaken people, but sometimes, and unfortunately, the best lessons we learn in life come from the hardest experiences. I too had to endure a lot of trouble before I awakened to the truth about the religion into which I was born. The religion I was born into (Bible Students which was a sect that spun out of the Watchtower and are Russellites) also claimed to have the truth to, but it was all nonsense. I still am experiencing the consequences of having been born into an extreme religious sect even after many years of having been awkened. Consequences, and pain, that I could never have in a million years have foreseen. I can't actually think of any religion where men (in the rhetorical sense) aren't really the ones behind the scene pulling the strings. Its so sad the hear about people being so badly treated.

      Peter Jeuck
Anyone who is a Russellite is at odds with Russell since he preached against being a Russellite.
      rlctr.blogspot.com/2009/09/russels-comments-on-russellites-and.html
The only religion a faithful Bible Student believes in is Christianity; otherwise, they are into sectarianism, and sadly, sectarianism does exist among the Bible Students, even as sectarianism existed among first century Christians.
      rlbibleresources.blogspot.com/2017/01/sectarianism.html
As to the Bible Students being "spun out of the Watchtower", I would perceive as being the other way around, that is, that the JW's Watchtower were spun out of the Bible Students under the leadership of Joseph Rutherford. The Bible Students, in other words, refused to join Rutherford's organization.
      rlctr.blogspot.com/2016/12/bstudents-jws.html
I am not sure what in particular is meant by "it was all nonsense." Do you believe that it is nonsense to say that the only way to God is through Jesus? That is what the Bible says and it is what Russell taught; any Bible Student who is teaching some other way is falling short of being faithful to the Bible. Do you believe it is nonsense that Christ died for all? That is what the Bible says and that is what Brother Russell taught. Did you actually ever understand the Biblical basis for the ransom for all and the coming blessing of all the families of the earth?
      ransomforall.blogspot.com/p/on-this-site.html
Many seem to accept this or that simply because Russell said it, or some elder said it. Again, Brother Russell preached against accepting anything simply because he (or anyone else) said it, and demanded that the Bible be the standard, not his books, etc.
      rlctr.blogspot.com/2016/11/thebible.html
From what I have seen from your comments here and elsewhere, I woudl appear to me that perhaps you were never actually consecrated to God through Christ. If did claim to be consecrated, did you think of your consecration as being through or in association with what others did, or to others who might have tried to bind you to teachings beyond what is written? Did you think of the Bible Students as being a "religion" itself? Did you think of you consecration as being consecrated to Bible Students, as a "religion"? Sadly, there have been some among the Bible Students who try to do bind others beyond the Bible, even as there were some among the early Christians who tried to do the same thing. Being associated with the Bible Students does mean that one will not find errors and mistakes being done by individual Bible Students.

I don't know if this has been touched on in the comments but, being a former JW I find it VERY ironic that they often accuse other religions as being bullshit (which they are), and beating the "slaves of god" all the while gloating with pretentious certainty that those assholes are not doing the same.

I survived four layoffs. The last three were announced on a Friday. We were told that people would be fired Tuesday morning at 9:00. Have a nice weekend! At the first of the two layoffs, my colleague to the right of me was fired. At the next layoff, the person in front of me. The last, a colleague I worked closely with, was fired. It took 6 months or more every time for the department to get back on its feet. Even though I was not fired, it reduced my trust in the management every time.

I saw so much of the truth of the organization when I was active in the mid 1960's. The news came out about the fact that most of the Bethel house and Governing Body at that time were practicing homosexuals.
I lived in Ventura,Ca and there were dozens of Russell's original followers living there. They were very old at the time. Many high officials of the organization came there to avoid disfellowshipping and they basically overwhelmed the local congregations when they took control.
When the truth of who they were came out it was met with threats of disfellowshipping for any who passed the truth along or who questioned their past.
The lamest of excuses were soon accepted as the very light of Jehovah and the preparation for the end in 1975 pressed forward. The Governing Body came to Simi Valley, Ca (the society had a palace for the saints type of complex there) and a number of sisters from around the country were assigned to marry them.
    Problem solved for the Society.
The only great spiritual action that came from all of that is that the GB decided to start disfellowshipping young boys who admitted to masturbating. I knew Elders who left the organization because of their outrage over that one.

The way things happen in this cruel organization, I believe the brother would have stayed back in the KH of his native origin and married another sister after divorcing his first wife. The sister would have left the organization and working secularly would perhaps still be single.

This story gives me chills. I feel for you bethelites. I've always been naïve. I would accept lies because they were told in well constructed sentences and would completely ignore things that felt totally wrong. Like the bethelites, my life was put on hold by the organisation. I would love to hear stories of ex bethelites and how they coped with the changes of returning back to work in this world. Back into reality. Its really hard not to resent an organization that continues to cause so much harm to people an the lives.

God if I had stayed a JW I would be a childless spinster still I just know it, or really unhappily married to some JW git. I did not like any of the 'brothers' during my 20 years raised JW and I would not have liked them to be the boss of me! Funny but though devout marriage has never sat well with me. I could never picture myself married, even to a JW, I would always draw a blank. After I left I heard of people I knew marrying people we had been raised with, know since we were all kids, completely unsuited, but obviously horny, kickstarting their lives and making the most of a bad bunch. Thank God I chose from outside and had my children with the cleverest man I could meet. My children have amazing genes: fast metabolism and highly intelligent :). I would never have forgiven myself or the WT if I had been deprived of having children, they are the only good thing in my life
