In this episode, we hear voices in our head that tell us to face certain doom and rescue Princess Zelda from an evil wizard who wants to (you guessed it) take over the world, or at least Hyrule.

So glad that you're doing this game... this right here is the greatest game of all time, and the greatest game you've LPed. Always loved this game... died 212 times when I played through it at 3 years old, and beat it dozens of times since then. Amazing game :)
@HCBailly I'm so happy you are doing this game. This is one of my favorite childhood games. And still is a favorite that I play even today. And the music...god I love the music from this game...especially the normal forest theme. I just 100% this game not even a month ago.
This is instantly my most favorite LP.

The first time you enter the castle in this game and the music plays for it......spine chilling each time for me
I remember the intro demo. It was the first thing I saw on my SNES after I booted it up. I remember yelling, "Oh my god! This is awesome!"
The skeleton is the kings dead body, that's why it said aganhim eliminated the king while it was showing that picture.
Rule of RPGs (arguably not an RPG but this rule still applies): The kid MC will never be taken seriously by the adults no matter how many times he saves their behinds.
In addition, 100 Rupees is essentially a ripoff from the King given how valuable that information is and how little that buys you in this game. XD

I still remember in '92 when I first bought a SNES after saving my allowance for what seemed like forever... I didn't have enough $ for a game so my mom rented me Link to the Past. That was honestly one of the best days of my life.

I always liked talking to the guard on the balcony outside near where the barrier to the upper floors is. It always makes me feel bad for the soldiers in the castle. Of course later in the game he starts chucking bombs and I get over it.

YES! My favorite Zelda game of all time. It was my first Zelda game that I played when I saved up my allowance to buy a Super Nintendo. WOW! That was 20 years ago already, now I feel old.
Between Arcana, both SNES Lufias and A Link to the Past, you've made me a very happy camper in terms of LP watching this year.
The intro to LttP was really awesome, really set the scene for the game.
Got back into _BotW,_ then got a random urge to replay this game as well. While roaming around for a bit before the first dungeon, I got to thinking, "hasn't HC done an LP on this?" Now I'm watching this again, about eight years later. All thanks to _Breath of the Wild._ Can't wait until you maybe get to that game.
As of the time I'm typing this, and the last I remember you saying, you haven't even played the game. So I understand it might not ever happen.

And this is why I'm subscribed to HCBailly. I don't mind Final Fantasy, and his other RPG like projects, but this is the best.
Fun facts about this game:
1. This game was originally gonna be on the NES but then it was scrapped and moved to the SNES
2. The size of the ROM was expanded multiple times during development
3. the spin attack was added because they couldn't program Link swinging his sword diagonally
4. There's a hidded skull statue graphic that can be loaded by doing the underground glitch, and going into a room that normally has the tongue statues
5. There's a hidden sanctuary entrance graphic, that was never used and cannot be loaded not even by glitching
6. ERROR 9001: cannot load more fun facts about this game
A lot of games during the final years of the NES lifespan were scrapped and switched to the SNES. I think a fourth final fantasy was to be made on the NES and ff4 was supposed to be the fifth game in SNES.

I've always loved this version the most. LttP is my favourite Zelda game.
The game that NOT started it all, but I personally think is the most influential of the saga. This is a game I've come to know and love, one of those games of wich I erase my saved games and start new ones every now and then, just for fun. I even remember when I discoverde this game, back at school, one of my fellow partners let me borrow it for a couple of weeks, it was then when we made some home improvements and changed our kitchen. I had to stay in my aunt's home and I brought the SNES there

I remember playing this with a family friend. I kept dying and falling off the edge, and when we got to the ball-and-chain guy, it was super-duper hard. I died in the sewers.

This is one of the few games I can complete fully, beat, then restart it and enjoy it right after!
A Link to the Past, one of my favourite Zelda games of all time. I still got the original cartridge and play it from time to time.

I can hardly believe my eyes!!!! Are you actually LPing A Link to the Past?! AWESOME!!! This is my favorite Zelda game of all time, and I've played every single one (although I haven't quite beaten Skyward Sword yet).
I remember getting this for my birthday in 1992. I must have played through this game a dozen times or more as a 14-year-old kid. A few times, I even played start to finish, 100% runs in one sitting. *Sigh* Ahh, those were the days...
I just remember how ground breaking this game was when it came out. I still have the original SNES cartridge, and I played it about 6 months ago. Enjoyed it immensely.
SNES had some great music.

This was my first game ever. It took me 3 years and a detailed internet walkthrough to beat. I'm excited to watch you breeze through it like it's nothing. YAY!
Oh man...you're doing ALttP! Oh...oh my! *fans myself* This game, more than anything else you've LPed IS my childhood. I was a child of the 90's, and to see you do this is almost more than I can handle, HCBailly.

When I played this years and years ago, I thought the guards were mice using slices of bread for shields.
This game means so much to me. I will never give up my old SNES ALTTP cartridge. I wanna be buried with it. :3

I only found out about him two and a half months ago three months at the most and I am binge-watching at least 90% of all his content before I get to where he is currently at at the present moment. not a very bad experience though for this guy it's by far the funniest and most entertaining let's player I've ever seen ..... by far

I've had so much fun with this game when I was a kid, and I still play the GBA remake sometimes. It's also the first game that I finished.
Dang, I never knew that 2 pots can take out the guy guarding Zelda. Back when I was a kid I used to just throw the boomerang at him repeatedly (It does damage some enemies, including him). After what seemed like twenty hits with the boomerang he dies.
Later on in life I was skilled enough to take down with the sword.
But two pots makes that really easy.
I used to always think the man on the throne was a bad guy. It really looks like his head is a skull.
It's widely accepted that, since the games take place over a large time frame (assumedly), that there are numerous Princess Zeldas. Why none of them could think of any other name is beyond me.
Also to add, I read that this and/or Link's Awakening may be treated to a 3D treatment on the 3DS. However, they didn't quite state whether it'd be like Excitebike-treatment or making it a 3D adventure like Ocarina. Sorry for the double post!

I don't know if you know this, but they remade the castle theme you seem to like so much in Windwaker. Its called "Farewell King Hyrule" and it's on CZcams. I totally recommend listening to it if you haven't already! Also, love your Let's Plays, keep up the stellar work man!
I'm a huge nerd so I have to but in. Theres actually 7 sages in OoT, the seventh is Zelda. She says it at the end before she is captured. And man, I was not expecting this lets play AT ALL! Nice Surprise HC.

it's been a long time since you've done an LP that really catches me, HC. Your LPing style is awesome but sometimes i just can't get into some of the games you LP. plus with finals and all...havn't had much time. but i'm excited for this one. i've been waiting for it for a while. it'll be awesome and i have something to look forward to every morning of my vacation.

As every legend goes they seal evil so some young hero destroy or seal them again so that another hero can do the work.

Has anyone ever noticed in games when you want to seal away an evil of some kind, the magic always involves a Seal of Solomon? Or most magic circles in video games overall? Popularity of such a heavy religious symbol or something?

She is eternally grateful for your courage and you share a long fulfilling life together. Unfortunately, because you never went on your adventure, many rupees were left unfound. The lack of currency sent the economy into a decline that the nation recovered from. Spoils of War (Fin)

Saria is the Forest Sage
Darunia the Goron is the Fire Sage
Zora Princess Ruto is the Water Sage
Impa is the Shadow Sage
Rauru is the Sage of Light
and then a Gerudo lady is the Spirit Sage (can't remember her name)
Zelda is the seventh Sage, the Sage of Time.
