Fuaim na Mara 5- A Canna Improvisation by Yvonne Lyon

This improvisation with Yvonne on Margaret Fay Shaw's beloved Steinway was based around a track recorded by John Lorne Campbell, in Canna House garden in 1953. Listen for the cuckoo.....it also features JLC's friend and contributor Annie Johnston of Barra, 'singing' "Cainnt nan Eun"or "Language of the Birds". This track was recorded by John in Canna House in 1953 and is Annie imitating the sound of the birds, with Gaelic words and phrases. The film uses footage of the seabirds taken by Margaret fay Shaw Campbell.
This track was composed and recorded for the Fuaim na Mara project, initiated by the National Library of Scotland for their Scotlands Sounds project and was launched in Canna Pier waiting Room on April 2 2017. See more information on the project on the Fuaim na Mara Facebook page.
