Guys if your new to the channel please consider subscribing also if you have any ideas on how I can improve this camper please drop a comment I would ❤ to hear 👂 from you please 🙏 smash 💥 the thumbs up 👍 thanks for watching guys
That’s going to be awesome! I can’t wait to see it!
It’s basic but what I learned from my good friend off grid adventure is that we can swap stuff out as we go and don’t wait to do a car camping adventure till you have everything high end just swap out as you go that’s the whole idea of a No Build cheers Mario
Cool build. Simple but effective. i am planning on doing this type of setup.
Yes 👍 indeed and it’s coming along with more upgrades slowly but surely the way this inflation is going I may have to live out of it someday
Love the best setup and simplicity.
I use a Skoda yeti definitely agree about getting out and in the car
I am very primitive and just use a headlamp,
Made a one leg table at hooks on the back of the car
The one leg is from a walking stick that was adjustable
Primus spider Gas stove with a windshield works very well
The table is stored under the mattress.
Plastic weather guards or lips on the two back windows allows a crossflow.
You may want to think about some mosquito netting, if you do go with the weather lips on the back windows
There are fishing priests which are quite hefty. I say no more.
Think it is wonderful having Bella there
I am taking mine, friends Sheltie with me later this year.
A journey without a dog, it’s just a journey
A journey with a dog is an expedition to be shared
Awesome setup. Great to see how you've setup your SUV for camping.
Thanks for watching we appreciate your comments and we just made episode 2 with the start of our new cooking station coming soon editing this week i have so much more I want to add to make this car camping so much better over time
And you have a warm puppy to snuggle with along with being a great 'Alert'. Nice!
She is daddy little girl
Thanks for stopping by
I’ve discovered I like sleeping in my 4Runner over pitching a tent or hammock. I feel much better protected and there is very little to pack up and move on. I’m looking forward to seeing how you progress with your no build project.
It’s new to me but I like the idea of being set up at any time episode 2 comes out this weekend more upgrades
Looks like a great setup my friend 😊👋 🙋♂️ 💯
Thanks 👍
Awesome
I’d say Bella is the most important part of the build.
She sure is she can keep me warm and keep me company when camping alone
The other thing I put on my front windows are wind and rain deflectors. They were expensive €60 - but I can leave those windows cracked all the time for air regardless of the weather. Ideal for overnight stealth camping and veru easy to click into place..
Love the video, just bought a 2018 equinox myself for road trips and its nice finding another camper with the same vehicle. Cheers and safe travels
+Justaholdn it’s been a good car almost 90,000 miles on it now bought her brand new no miles
As long as it works. Thumbs up!
So far it seems to be working although sometimes my car camper gets a little cluttered
@lowermichiganadventures Get smaller and you'll have more room.
@michaelsadventures4261 I totally agree I really do need to lose some weight so true there’s plenty of room in that car to be a car camper but I’m a little bit on the chubby side and I definitely need to change that New Year’s resolution
@@lowermichiganadventures I can't gain weight.
What I sometimes do is cook large pots of food at home and bag them and freeze them for when camping..
I use a butane stove in my van, it works good.
I cooked inside the no build episode 2
Very cool!
Thanks
Nice start!! sleeping pads are one of the things I struggle with the most Presently using a 3" memory foam cot mattress. Pretty nice but still not perfect lol
Am looking into a 3 inch memory foam mattress that is made to fit in my SUV hopefully a new addition in the weeks to come thanks for watching episode 2 coming out this weekend more upgrades to come
Looks like a great setup! I love sleeping in my van. These are so much better than hotels. You showed the alarm, yet it STILL scared me... both times you set it off! 😆 Mmm... I do love Mountain House meals. Your dog looks so content and happy, just chillin' in the sleep system... doing an excellent duty of warming your bed for you. 🐕
That alarm scares me every time I watch and I see Bellas ears go up Bella kept me warm she loves to snuggle thanks for watching we appreciate you stopping bye
Right on Jamie! The reflectix window covers are perfect. That black tape helps seal up the edges. Great job!
I need to do a little more work to the window covers with the black tape I just made episode 2 I cooked inside the car and i didn’t blow everything up yet lol
I've just changed cars - from my 2002 ford focus estate to a 2009 ford focus estate... I stick to them because the seats go flat and its long enough for me to sleep in the back without moving the drivers seat out of its driving position if I needed to make a quickgetaway.
I use bubble wrap on the windows in the daytime for privacy - just squirt the windows with water and that holds the bubble wrap in place. And the blackouts fit at night over them.
My last dog was small and I could lift her onto the car but now I have a rescue sheepdog collie. She's 15 and not able to jump in herself, won't use the dog ramp I bought for her so I carry a bundle of those rubber 2 foot square mats that can link into each other to make a rubber floor. She uses them as a step getting in a and out and I keep them standing strapped to the side with a bungy cord. However with her large bed behind the passenger seat and those mats strapped to that side at the back and her needing the space to walk to the back to get out.. it doesn't leave much space apart from my bed!
So if Im not bringing the small homemade basic teardrop trailer I use just as a storage space.. I put all my things in a few plastic waterproof see through lage containers which sit on my bed while driving and get left outside when camped.
Another tip I discovered by chance.
I bought the dog a heavy cool mat for her to lie on camped in hot weather but she wont use it.
So it's been re assigned as an extra layer over my cool bag.
My cool bag - or bags -I put one inside a second- and use the packs you freeze down in a freezer.
This system actually keeps frozen food frozen at the bottom for three days and the radiant cold off the frozen food below keeps the other food above at fridge temperature for longer.. the dog cool mat has made a huge difference extending the life of the fridge food to 5 days..
I'm in Ireland so I can camp in a campsite a night and refreeze the packs there or near someone I know to use their freezer. I've even put them in large zip bags and had a shop put them in their freezer for me for a few hours! Actually people are very obliging and will help you if they can and you are polite and appreciate it.
I didn’t even know they had a dog cooling mat that could be a game changer for summertime temperatures, and Michigan for Bella
I absolutely love the no build lifestyle
It’s so simple and can be swapped out to any vehicle
I love reading the comments as I can get valuable tips from other people that have been down that road
I don’t have a refrigerator in my car currently although we do have a yeti cooler when we go away
Jamie, I love the SUV camper. If I was you, I'd stick to cooking outside. Whenever I cook inside something like that, the added humidity isn't worth the risk. I do wish I had an SUV to use like this. Nice rig for a quick overnighter or for colder weather.
I've bought these little silica "damp traps" from the hardware store to help suck moisture from the air which prevents condensation build up from breathing.
I tried cooking inside on episode 2 i didn’t turn out to bad more upgrades to come over the next serval weeks
Thanks for watching Dan nice to see you my friend
bubble wrap on the windows prevents condensation on them and gives you privacy... See my other comment.@@lowermichiganadventures
you may run into some trouble with the window covers you used glue gun on, the heat exchange here in Michigan summers, you may see it peel off. I actually ran bead of fabric fix, a lil expensive but permenant glue. ALONG with a basted stitch old needle and thread to make sure that glue stay, Safe journey, maybe crossing the mak, end of month in my new buggy
I used to be able to do that but with old age and my size, it aint happining any more. Even after losing 130 lbs. Interesting video Jamie.
It’s definitely challenging even for my size it would be easier on me if I dropped 50 lbs or so
It’s nice to hear from you pops miss you hopefully visit you in spring

Thanks for visiting our crazy channel feel free to share any of our videos with your community. Cheers from all your friends at Lower, Michigan Adventures.
I have a chevy equinox as well and I have camped for years in it. I put a step at the back hatch and use the key fob to close it when I am inside. My car is my work vehicle so I can't do anything to it.
I wish my back hatch closed with a key fob it would make it so much easier I get in and out of the side door it’s very tricky filming in a small space as well thanks for stopping bye
Looking good. Like you I didn't want a build out in my SUV, so I went with minimal build that can be reversible if needed.
A bigger power bank does give you more options, if using heavy draw appliances look into the Delta Ecoflow before the Jackery... My EcoFlow powers my Microwave, and Keurig. I have a Jackery for the on board refrigerator. my Jackery 1000 will not power my Keurig.
Funny I have no problems spending $800-$1,000 on power banks but can't bring myself to paying $9-$10 for a Mountain House meal😁
Thanks for sharing and hope to see a lot of SUV Camps👍
Here is a video of what I've done up till September, I'll also be having a Premiere this Sunday 4:00pm EST that shows a few more things.
let me know if you have any questions.
