They did worse than previous part. It's not underrated, just much worse than 3d HoMM, simple.

Much better music, some nice creatures that sadly never showed up afterwards.
The reason why it is disliked, is because they tried something new for the series.
And the biggest change stuck in form of the differently built battlefield.
Also when it comes to presentation and "oldschool" gameplay Heroes V takes the cake.
@barsukus13 actually till today i don't get what's worse in HOMM4. For me, Heroes 4 was always more pleasurable to play than 3 but I was never a hardcore fan of the series so I'm not so deep into the mechanics. Maybe there is just something i don't get. At least Music in 4 is definitely a masterpiece
@@barsukus13 It is worse only on some parts. For instance Castle designs and art are better in HOMM3, several things are rushed and doesn't get as much love as in HOMM 3. I loved HOMM 3, but i don't get what people hate about HOMM4 unless they just didn't really get into it. Yes, there are many changes that could make people flee, but if you go deeper into it, you'll find that actually HOMM4 is a lot better game. UI, creature management, fights, variety of artifacts, heroes being part of the army, everything in terms of gameplay is better than the previous one.
I still sometime play HOMM3 for nostalgia but i don't play it much because the gameplay feels old compared to HOMM4. Still the soundtracks and castle design are pretty damn cool. (i don't like the castles in HOMM 4 compared to the previous one)

Howcan this be the successor to homm3? The towns are worse in every aspect compare to the third part.
It is a known fact the game was rushed. That's why.
