  • This is a short video showing how to quickly test and roughly align your burrs on the DF83V coffee grinder.
    Original content provided by supplier.
    Steps:
    1. Dial the grind adjustment down until you hear the burrs chirp.
    2. Dial it back just a touch so they no longer chirp.
    3. Push down on the grind adjustment dial on each of four points (12 o'clock, 3 o'clcok, 6 o'clock and 9 o'clock positions).
    4. As you push each point, listen for the burr chirp. Each point should chirp equally for the equal amount of pressure. If one point doesn't chirp, then that shows the burrs aren't properly aligned. Make a note of this position (e.g 6 o'clock).
    5. If they're not touching equally, remove the grinder adjutsment dial, and burr carrier.
    6. Make a mental note on the burr carrier where the point was that wasn't touching. This is where you'll add a small shim.
    7. Remove the outer burrs from the burr carrier using a phillips head screw driver.
Make sure you keep the burrs exactly in the same position as they were, dont rotate them them.
    8. Add small shim in the exact position you noted above (where the burrs werent' touching when you pushed on the dial). This could be a thin piece of paper with sticky tape, a small piece of aluminum foild with tape. etc.
    9. Install the burrs back into the burr carrier making sure you have kept them in exactly the same original position.
    10. Re-install the burr carrier and outer ring and re-test the alignmnent.
    11. Use the grub screw to set the zero point of the burrs. You do this by turning the grinder on and winding down the grinder adjustment colar until the burrs just chirp. Then wind back just a touch. Turn off the grinder and install and tighten the grub screw using the allen key.
    12. Double check and re-test the alignment.

Thank you for the video! Its the most helpful I've found so far! How do you align the number dial and arrow so that zero is touching? Should it be like that? Can you please help me with this!
