Love to see this. I had a high energy trauma, motor scooter(me) versus car full frontal. I was lucky I got sent to the Amsterdam University Medical Centre where 4 trauma surgeons did 6 times 6 hours surgery in 9 days to recover my body with my tibial proximal shaft shattered AND my tibia plateau shattered. My femur was shattered distal AND proximal, which was open and gave me a Morell Lavallee leasion. Both bones have 11 mm diameter nails and my tibia(plateau) has 2 plates proximal and a lot of screws. The proximal femur C3 fracture is a piece of bone of 9 cm long on the lateral side which is still pretty far from the nail in the femur. My fibula was also a comminuted fracture proximal but has no screws or whatsoever. Osseous bridging is going slow, because of the multi trauma.
My pelvic area had 6 severe fractures; OS Pubis ramus inferior and superior both sides, pelvic ring fracture APC like, Acetabulum left, OS Sacrum left and L5 transverse processor left. All fixed with 4 long titanium cannulated screws, two diagonally 15 cm screws on the front side and 2 12 cm screws on the backside.
Both antebrachi are shattered too on the radius and ulna side, needing two long plates to cover all the lose bones with big angulations left and left was an open fracture. Ulna left still has a big gap because of loss of bone and is non union, meaning I need a bone transplant to fill that gap. The right antebrachi has one plate on the radius and kirschners on the distal ulna.
Butt I survived because of my heroes in the shockroom who treated first what kills first, meaning severe blood loss at the open femur fracture and to restore the soft tissue in the pelvic area and make sure the blood flow was working. I had this unsurvivable accident on March 19 2021, 24 nights in the hospital and straight away with an ambulance to one of the best rehab centers in the Netherlands and stayed there for 4 months 24/7. What a journey that was and still is. Walking around with one crotch and in and around house walking, or better said limping, but improving by the week. Enjoying life to the fullest. Lost 12 kg of muscle. At 53 I am so proud of all my scars.

Wow. Thanks for this. I'm three weeks post and wondered how it was done. My doc must of had a time constraint (4hrs surgery) for my op as he only used one top oblique screw lol.

But when it comes to bones breaking, Lord, i couldnt even last for 5 seconds watching it. My bones shakes like they're being removed out from my body.

  • @lananis

    Atentamente:
    LUIS GABRIEL HERRERA RAMIREZ
    Desde BOGOTÁ COLOMBIA.

The pain can also be muscular, since when you first started to walk again, the body gets a shock “what’s happening here”. Muscle growth can take a long time. Im stitched together with 2 nails, femur and tibia, 5 plates in my body and 59 screws. I think I don’t want them to be removed since that is seen as a complication. New scars, blood loss, soft tissue risks and most of all risk of infection

Hi!I 4 weeks out to my surgery.I was told by the doctor,my ankle is gonna be fused after this surgery.I had a distal tibia fracture a couple of inches away from my ankle joint. Can somebody please tell me?Is it gonna be permanent?Well it is mighty important for me to have a complete idea of the situation reason being I was gonna start my professional boxing career before the injury!!!
There is one more thing I reckon is very important to state here! There didn't perform ankle fusion surgery or something.

    • @mung69beanfart2
      @mung69beanfart2 Před 4 lety +2

Gday mate hows the leg going ? I don’t think any joints will be fused, I’m 9 months post surgery, I had the tibial nail with 9 screws and broke my neck, it’s a c4/c5 fusion, I’m very mobile now but still have some pain here and there. The only advice I have is to be very strict with the physical therapy and every day should get better, from what I’ve read and experienced you will make a full recovery but it just feels like it takes forever. All the best mate

The fibula part you described doesn’t sound good. But they normally only do some re composition of the fibula and nail and screws are in the tibia. When you stand upright 80% of your weight is handled by your tibia and only 20 by your fibula. Since you should not be allowed tot stand on the leg for 7 weeks the fibula can start healing in that period of time

Depends on the fracture type. If you have an AO C3 oh my goodness fractures in your proximal tibia shat and tibia plateau you could also need two plates and 10 screws proximal. At least that is what I have
