  • This was a walk of discoveries in landscape history, nature and past memories. The Tame Valley river was strewn with the remains of early woollen mill ruins. A gradual ascent after Broadhead Noddle junction led to views overlooking New Years Bridge and Castleshaw Reservoirs. The tiny hamlet of Heights, had special family memories for Michael with stories of days when the chapel was more active.

A must visit area. Enjoyed the video and music, nicely blended with the video commentary.

That looks a nice Ramble with a bit of History too. The paths were rather muddy though like my last walk thanks for taking us with you Cheers Glenn ❤️👍

Thanks Glenn for watching and your comments. Yes it was a nice ramble except for the muddy bits. Will check out your last walk.

Well I hope you had your 40 shillings with you! 😂 Again, I've heard of Delph but don't think I've ever been there. Enjoyed your music as always. Noticed particularly your jazzy minor 9th chords in this, which i liked very much. Another gorgeous walk. Look like you had a nice day again 👍

Had to laugh at your comments on the 40shillings. Thanks for compliments on music, nice to hear. Must admit learning the chord progressions like minor 9th or major 7th chords have never been easy. But love experimenting to find different chord progressions, and listening to other musicians' compositions.

The Slackcote Valley is a splendid walk and I remember the old cars from earlier visits. I was very sad when the Royal Oak across the lane closed a couple of years back. It was a splendid old fashioned country pub. I once borrowed a key from somewhere....alas I can't remember where......and had a look inside the church. It was in a very poor state really. A shame. Thank you for sharing your walk. Best wishes, Chris

Hi Chris. Good to hear from you. I think the old vintage cars have been there for ages, but have never seen the Royal Oak Pub next to Heights Chapel before. I think there is support for Chapel maintenance (from reading the wall plaque), but not sure how. Thanks for comments

Lovely to see a new video from you, beautiful bits of countryside and fascinating history to put it into context. I'm familiar with Saddleworth, but never really got to explore the surrounding area when I was there. 🌱🌿💜🐾

Thanks you for your kind comments and for watching video. A lot of the history of the area I was totally unaware of until Michael explained it. He was brought up in the area of Saddleworth so its familiar territory for him.

Delph looks miles better in the video than it did when I was walking through there last Sunday.

Thanks Eric. Things can change, but I think our Delph walk was uploaded a while back now but yes noticed town has changed.

At the end, coming down Dark Lane, you’ll have passed my daughter’s house!

I remember seeing the road sign for Dark Lane when filming. It's a small world seeing family links. Thanks for watching.
