- Hot on the heels of the fantastic Tanchjim Origin, the brand is back with a budget alternative: The $70 Tanchjim 4U. Earlier this year, Kiwi Ears and Crinacle released the Singolo, a similarly-priced single-DD IEM, and Fiio also recently released the JH5 in this price range. So how do they all stack up? Let's talk about it.

Hexa is special, its my fav iem, even tho i have much expensive iems, hope the Hexa 2 comes with a smaller nozzle and little mid bass emphasis.
It really does hold up not only to time, but to a lot of more expensive sets.
Can you mention some of those more expensive IEM you like less than the Hexa?
I love them myself and I would not like to find myself forking a bunch of money just to be disappointed.
@@JunJunMusume I was very excited for kato but soon was disappointed cause it was very bassy, and soundstage was very cramped, I got headache trying to adjust to those coming from hexa, only thing i liked about kato is the midrange very natural timbre.
S12 pro is actually a step above hexa in terms of technicalities and soundstage, but the stock tuning is too V shaped which spoils the midrange, the vocals have metallic timbre as well, but with EQ it's really good, techs are just insane for the price, but i have to EQ them.
Hexa is actually a steal for $80 it has a very analytical neutral sound, I can focus on any frequency at a given time totally, without the other frequency overpowering. That's what I like about the hexa.
Hexa has too much treble and not enough subbass. Midrange is pretty good though.
Once I bought the Hexa I regretted buying the Orchestra Lite.
I suspect that "monitoring" is supposed to refer to individual monitoring by a vocalist or (non-bass) instrumentalist, which could potentially benefit from cutting out bass distractions, rather than mixing/producing.
specifically compensating for the bass already going through your head when you speak
Thank you Mark for saying Hexa is not a bright set...it is not a bright set😊🙋♂️💯
Kids be cappin
Depends on the tips you use. It absolutely is if you slap moondrop spring tips on them. Theyre a pretty tip sensitive set imo. Same goes for the ea5000LM
I rock them with Spinfits W1... not bright
Thanks Mark. Great job as usual.
I'll be waiting for Tanchjim 4ever.
Ah that’s good
After that I hope we get the Tanchjim 4Real 4Real.
I have been using tanchjim 4u for almost week with dunu SS tips and ibasso dc04 pro & fiio btr5, I can say it excels really well abv it's price point n can compete with 150 usd iem.😊😊
I do hope you will review Meze Alba in near future. Your reviews help a lot for us to pick an iem. Thanks
Love the naming and Tanchjim comebacks iems.
Alsp will you be reviewing Dita Project M?
the tuning mechanism reminds me of the good old sennheiser IE8
Whoa, didn't know about that one.
This review is super yeah ... Ah.. ah... yeah... ♥️
I’m getting “over” my Letshuoer S12 and looking for other options, thanks for the video!
I absolutely happy with S12PRO, can't imagine a better sound. The main trick is to trash all tips other then cheapest fur tree 🎄 tip (made of 3 sections) that goes real real deep inside ear canal
@@7in1 thank you for the reply! I’ll look into it!
@@7in1where do you get these tips ?
Is the description supposed to be for the Gate? Seems wrong
Thanks Mr. Ryan. Which is your favourite Tanchjim IEM?
Origin or the Hanas. Darling also pretty good... But probably Origin.
@@SuperReview the Prism is the prettiest but my favourite is still the Oxygen. Haven’t tried the Original yet but might have to add it to my list.
Can you please suggest any cheap dac which is best paired with Hexa iem
Please do review the dita audio project m
Vs ea500lm?, The frequency is similar
Hey guys I need some IEMs specifically for stage performance, I’m a singer. I was leaning for the legacy 2 but I know this was 2 years ago and maybe there’s better now. I hate sibilant/sharp/bright iems, I was looking for something a bit more on the neutral side;) WOULD u recommend the Legacy 2 still in 2024? Or perhaps the PULA PA05? I heard those have huge shells and the legacy seem to have that custom nicely sized fit. Pls give me ur thoughts… love the semi custom style & im trying to stay SUB $200.
Much love thanks guys! Need that 2024 UPDATE! Much appreciated
Is that a Hola cable on the Hexa? I’m thrown by the red on the connector.
Yeah it's the Hola cable, he added the red ring himself
@@zrad09 ah thanks. I wondered for a minute if there was a way to get another cable like the Hola one, apart from buying the new Gate (which I already did).
@@zrad09 Bingo. I put red o-rings on them so it's easier to tell which is L and R.
@@SuperReview excellent idea.
technical compared to Aria 2, Olina SE?
Olina the most technical of those.
Is the switch a weak link? Could it be the cause of death? Whenever I see a switch in a new iem, I can't get myself to trust it
Dunno, never personally had an issue with any switches.
Have you listened to any U2 on your 4U? Any B52's?
No
How is this compared to the aria 2?
Based on my experience, aria 2 is more full sounding at the same time a bit fuzzier, 4U is more clear, a bit thin, better imaging (for me in treble region) as Super did mention in his review
I like a little bit less upper mids than the graph shows in atmospheric. Have you auditioned Aful Explorer yet?
Yes, Explorer review coming soon.
...It's probably underrated.
Tanchjim 4ME
Tanchjim Gimmegimme
I agree, the Hexa is neutral.
i would like to buy a neutral sounding iem under 100 dollars
i thought of buying hexa how you guys think
i rarely listen bass songs, other than that i like to listen all types of songs
can u suggest me any better or the hexas are great for neutral sounding
Hexa is among the easiest recommendations! Honestly, for me it goes well with pretty much everything, but of course, you want want exploding base it's not here, thankfully, that's not your case nor mine.
Let me tell you, just get the hexas! You’ll not regret it if you like a warm neutral sound!
Between this 4U and Hexa,, Hexa got better layering of multiple voices/instrument but the fit kinda bad. I had to use 4U stock short tips on Hexa coz the nozzle too long
thanks everyone
thanks everyone
How good is this iem for listening to bbl drizzy
not good enough. Need atleast a kilobuck
I had to Google that, so I probably won't be helpful here :P
I've been kinda bored by Hexa for a while, but my opinion of it has slowly increased as I've realized just how unbalanced and unnatural a lot of well-reviewed budget IEMs are. It doesn't have a ton of excitement, but it replays basically all genres well. I've had to re-calibrate my own sense of "bright" vs "warm", because for a while the Hexa was on the brighter side of IEMs I owned. It definitely is the closest set I have to dead-neutral. I'd struggle hearing Hexa defined as "warm", but I guess compared to extreme V-shaped sets, it is.
I ended up getting the Tanchjim 4U yesterday. I manage to get it on a sale, on top of a bunch o coupons and in the end it was 𝐛𝐞𝐥𝐨𝐰 $𝟓𝟎 𝐝𝐨𝐥𝐥𝐚𝐫𝐬!
I love the Hexa as well but recently I have been leaning towards something brighter and to this day I'm still impressed by the Tanchjim Zero, so clear and yet so cheap, so I decided to give these a go before considering the Origin (maybe in 11.11 sale).
Great review as always!
Damn, 4ME?!
I need a Tanchjim 4Now and a Tanchjim 4Later.
4U or not 4U. That... 👆 that is the question.
Hexa or D41/PA02 ?
Pretty sure Mark would say the Hexa. They are tuned quite differently, and are also very different price points so not sure why these two specifically. PA02 is well tuned, for my preferences better than the Hexa, but a bit lacking in clarity due to the 6kHz dip, which is larger on my one than others. There are several IEMs I'd put above it, like the Truthear Nova is quite a bit better IMO for similar price. Chopin better again for more money.
I prefer Galileo over Hexa, but they are very similar.
I have Galileo, but normally I listen to EQed Sennheisers from HD 6** series. For me Galileo totally lacks Air, meaning anything above 10-12k is barely there. A bit of lower extension or boost (slow rise from 200Hz down) in lower frequencies wouldn't hurt either. Comfort is below average for me since the shell is rather large, I use Feaulle H570 tips.
@@pliedtka if you find the Galileo large Hexa would likely be worse, they are about the same size but the fit on the Hexa for me is trickier, while the fit on the Galileo is excellent. It's not large for a hybrid at all, it's actually on the small side. Most hybrids are quite a bit bigger, so bear that in mind if you are looking at stuff in the future, you may want to really look for small single DDs like the Sennheiser IE series, Moondrop Lan/Chu, Tanchjim One, this sort of stuff. Agree the lack of air is the Achilles heel of the Galileo, but my own hearing is bad enough above 10-12kHz it doesn't really matter. It's tuned really well otherwise and I'd take it over the Hexa.
4me?👉👈
And so are U
Scratches on them already? Looks like faceplate gets bad easily. I don't mind them too.. but hmm
It's like torn knees on jeans, scratched faceplates are all the rage.
@@SuperReviewhahaha
Hi Mark
Do you still recommend the hexa ?
