- 👋 Time for some more bright mods! In today's video we install more Led lights for the Toyota Rav4 XLE! New switchback fog lights and reverse lights! The function of these at night time is so much better than the stock ones and Amanda loves how they look! It's a very straight forward installation. The fog light versatility between colors is a cool option to have if you live somewhere where the weather changes often. And the reverse lights definitely help seeing what's behind the car at night time! As far as the ownership experience goes for the last 2 months, she absolutely loves the Rav4! It's a great suv all around with a few minor things on the "hate" list, but overall it's been great and we have some more mods for it coming soon!

I just ordered a set of the switchback fog lights for my Tacoma. I had no idea these existed before this video. Very cool tech.

🧖♂Great video but when I installed the exact same "switch back bulbs", in my 2018 Rav4 Hybrid Limited (made in Japan model), the biggest job was reaching the 10mm aiming bolt for aiming the new bulbs. If I didn't aim them, the fog lights, both yellow and white, were massively super, super blinding white and yellow. I had to turn the aiming screws almost all the way down, to get an acceptable level of brightness where I am not blinding other drivers. Reaching these aiming adjustment screws, is the hardest part of the job. I did it with a very small ratchet with a 10 mm socket.
Interesting! This was so long ago but I don’t think I had to make any adjustments like that and mine were fine!
I own a 2017 model. Its a great car/SUV. Next I'm going with a Hybrid model.

You can manually open it you need to turn off the power option inside the glove box
I never saw any controls inside the glovebox!
You neglected to mention that the bulb not only rotates to lock into the socket, but the socket itself has a retaining clip, which prevents it from backing out. It wasn’t until I squeezed that clip lever that I could unplug the old bulb and remove it
I don’t remember having to do that, I just twisted out the old bulb and pulled it right now.
Turning the wheels gives more space to work and access.
If I didn’t do that in this video, I have done that before!

I have some bulbs from my 350, not sure if they would fit or not, but they could!

A little more power would be great and a little less road noise. I’ve been wanting to start by doing the door panels and lining them with some dynamat and working my way around as I get the chance,I did see a video some guy in Russia took out the entire interior and did it top to bottom
Oh wow, I actually haven't noticed much road noise, but it's different for everyone. Maybe a little more power, but haven't had any problems with mine, still love it!

18 Rav 4 love it, but I have to say coming from a 99 accord there is a lot of interior bit that feel so much nicer in my accord, the window switch's sunroof cover, and the paint is so thin on the new ravs. I do love the Rav though over a dozen other cars I looked at

Question for you with the new high-powered LED backup lights does it wash out the backup cam at night?
Nope! It really illuminates the ground way better then stock!
I put led’s in every car ever, even the gtr we did the led reverse lights in led
Just noticed my front right fog light is out. Thinking of just replacing them myself. Lazy ass dealerships. I've had the CPO Rav 4 for less than a year., Thanks for the insight.

But you can off the power liftgate In the glove box in the left top side😅

Did you guys attach the resistors/ballasts to anything? Any issues with them getting hot or disconnecting just hanging out in the fender?
Also, do they shine upward at all, I am thinking of doing this in my 2016, but don’t want to blind other drivers.

They shine exactly the same direction as stock since they plug right into the same socket. And the bulbs itself have built in resisters to not have any issues
The bare bones LE models are manual, for the lift gate.

It’s not bad! I had to remove my Tacoma bumper to replace headlights so yea it wasn’t bad!

Nice Vid. how you change the color of your fog lights? I have a 2017 rav4 XLE and my fog lights is kind of a useless IMO with the stock...
These are a switchback light so when you use the fog light switch on the stalk, you can go between the colors by turning them on and off!

Most cars are the same. There are probably some rubber plugs in the firewall you can go through
you should make more videos with that car, it's beautiful

I got everything done except getting the blown bulb out. Is there a clip or do u push on the middle of the connector?
That garage floor was cold..even with a blanket
I'm pretty sure you just have to squeeze the end of it and wiggle it out, I did this so long ago and don't have the car anymore. Just take your time with it!
my 2018 rav4 rear door/ lift gate opens manually.
Must be the trim level! This one is power only!

Great job on the lights. I've seen on Lasfit that they have taillights that will work on my Camaro with no adding of a resistor. May have to use your code and place an order for those.
We've used them on several vehicles and they work really well!

I’ve seen many cars with led fog lights and many are a bit blinding to oncoming traffic. Are these blinding to oncoming traffic to the point that someone will flash me?
I would say they are bright for sure, but they are so low on the front bumper I don't think that would be a problem, but I've never driven towards it at night!

Isn’t there an override option? In the MDX, if you hold down the button that you use to auto lift the tailgate, it will switch to manual mode. I would think all cars would have this kind of override feature. Couldn’t find any info online though.

@@kingkumul9386 Go in the settings on the radio I believe it’s under General or vehicle there’s a setting to have daytime running lights on or off

You should be able to go to your local auto parts store and find similar clips. Might not be the exact same, but will do the job!

No need to secure resistor to subframe?
There wasn't anywhere to attach it to behind the fogs if that is where you are talking, so it was fine tucked up underneath.
How does the color change work?
Just using the stock fog light switch! Turn them on and they are one color, turn them off and back on and they are the other color!

I left it hanging, I couldn't find anywhere to attach it. It's been fine though so far.

I know it’s a year later... but I too have a 2017 RAV 4. The driver side fog light is easily accessible from inside the engine bay just pop open hood and reach down in there and take off the plug and bulb. The passenger side is too tight and requires the steps you took to move wheel well liner.
That would be a far reach from inside the engine bay, not sure I would try that, the headlights are, but the fog lights are too low! It's much easier to get to them this way!
@@BrosFOURRSpeed it isn’t at all. If it wasn’t dark. I would send you a picture. It seems far down, but actually isn’t. Go and check it out. No contortionist needed for the driver side. The passenger side is blocked by windshield washer fluid container so taking off the wheel well liner has to be done. I just did it today 4/6/2021 because my bulb died. Found your video to see if I wanted to switch to LED.

@@BrosFOURRSpeed you actually can turn the power lift gate off. Go to Multi-information Display > Settings > Change PBD (power back door) to OFF.
