    Today I show you how I use my ‪@Cricut‬ Joy to create custom sentiments for my cards. I also show you how to cut those sentiments out just as you would normally using a coordinating die! After the tutorial, I chat about the differences between using the Cricut and using a traditional die cutting machine with stamps.
    Now, my first love will always be my traditional stamps and die cutting machine. However, if you're looking to make something super specific and you don't have just the right stamp in your stash...this little guy will save the day!

    If you want to eliminate the small little cuts within your sentiment offset (when doing a smaller/tighter offset), click on Contour (lower right next to Attach) afterwards and then hide the ones you don’t want cut

      OMG! You’re right! No pesky holes ever again! My Joy is my baby. I have no interest in vinyl, sublimation, etc. I love using the Joy for custom sentiments, but I never thought of writing directly on the patterned paper! I’m used to doing offsets, which is very fun. Have to admit, though, I do like the rounded edges of die cuts too. If only Cricut could come up with something like that!

    This is the video I have been hoping for!! Thank you, Thank you! I am 60+ have been an avid stamper for more than 30 years. Love making cards, love stamping and coloring, but during Covid I wanted to try something new and purchased an Explore Air2. My kids didn''t have the patience to help me and so it hasn't gotten a whole lot of use. This is exactly what I want to do. Create my own greetings or sentiments in any color I want and cut them out. You are a lifesaver! I enjoy watching your short reels, but I'm at that age where I need more explanations and details on the how and supplies you use. I hope you find the time to do more videos for us older card makers. Your cards are great!

    • @annettespecht8315
      @annettespecht8315 Před 11 měsíci

      @@elizabethp2040 you can! Type your sentiment and size it . Look for the offset tool and choose external offset to give that cutting outline around the text. Change the color of the offset line to one different than your text color. After you click send, choose the "cut by line color" at the top of that page. Choose the color of your text first and change the tool from blade to pen. Click send. After the writing is done, change the selection to the color you chose for cutting and the tool to blade. Thanks for this video! Great instruction! I have a tip for the rough edges of your cuts. I learned this a gazillion years ago in a college design class where we had to make chipboard models. Use a very fine nail file and slightly, gently swipe down over and over the edge of the rough cut. You can do this as little or as much as you want until it's pretty clean. THEN you can go back with the bone folder and press it down more to make it even more clean. I've also done the finger lick then pass it over the edge trick. Yuk, I know, but that bit of moisture sometimes smooths the edge as well. This also works if something is a bit "off" in size. You can file it down to fit whatever. Works GREAT!!! 😁

    Thank you so much! I bought a Cricut Joy a few weeks ago and started regretting it soon after. Many videos later with no luck teaching me how to draw and cut sentiments and I started questioning whether the Joy could even do it. Then I saw your Short with the flowers and sentiment and knew it was possible! Your instructions were easy to understand and I successfully created along with you! Thanks!

    I have both a Cricut Explore Air 2 and 2 manual machines, a Spellbinders 6 (my everyday machine), and a Sizzix Big Shot Plus for larger cutting projects. I think each has its pluses and minuses. I love the beveled edge created by manual dies. Plus, you can get much more detailed cuts from a manual machine (some of my cutting dies have the teeniest pieces!). Electronic cutters offer the ability to customize and get or design your own sentiments and images for very little, if any, money. You can change the size of an element to fit your design exactly or pick the perfect font. I often use them in conjunction with one another.

    I JUST found your channel today and I watched the “unwritten,” card.
    GORGEOUS!! I’m nowhere near as good but I do have an all in one machine that might help you.
    It’s from We R Memory Keepers, it’s their All in One tool. It makes cards, has the ability to do cut paper, do fold marks, make envelopes, put in holes and notches, you can use your stamps, it has an extension arm.
    It would replace 3 of the machines I saw you use in that video. The Misty, the stamp press and the paper cutter and you’d get additional functionality.
    Shoot, it even allows you the ability to make bows.
    The price ranges from around $70 online to close to $100 in stores.
    Hope this helps you!! ❤

So, I have now added two mechanisms to my main passion, paper quilling. I’m mostly looking at embossing backgrounds for my projects and sentiments but, I can also broaden my possibilities with these two machines, I hope : ) i.e. everything doesn’t have to have a quilling component.
