- This is a fancut of the Briarwood Arc on "Critical Role". All credit goes to the show itself and its wondrous enablers at Geek&Sundry. These videos are simply meant to add to the Critter community and perhaps help others understand the addiction that has enthralled us all.
This was made for someone who longed for more good shows but claimed he didn't have enough time to get into the 4-hours-a-week commitment that is "Critical Role".
Please note that this version of the story arc merely shows a fraction of all the encounters, sideplots and shenanigans present in the original videos, it tries to focus on the main storyline and therefore leaves out more than any true Critter could bear to loose. So ...
If you're now screaming for more: Say goodbye to life as you knew it and watch the full episodes of "Critical Role" at geekandsundry.com/shows/critic...
Beep beep!
Unfortunately, I had to cut most of the conversation between Percy and Uriel. For reasons still unknown to me, the segment was flagged differently by youtube (in terms of copyright), and I couldn't upload the video with it. I'm sad to loose it, but I thought it would be better this way than having no Part 1 at all ... - Zábava
One page. One page of backstory from Taliesin gave us TWO god damn arcs.
Quantity =/= quality
They were two quality arcs
he meant, it was a high quality page.
I'm pretty sure less actually, All he told Matt was that the Briarwoods killed his family that owned Whitestone and how he came to make his gun. Everything else, Matt just went ham.
And Arguably the best arcs of the campaign
This was the moment when Percival became more than just the groups gunslinger.
At first I thought he was just a quiet character who wouldn't last long but this arc made me in love with Percy as a character.
He was shining his ass off in the first beholder fight already though.
he really was i was fuck ya this dude is awesome hope we learn more and when it turn into this i was pleased
Apparently, it had the same effect in the animated show as well.
I love the fact when they are toasting to Pike it kind of sounded like she died. Vox machina some of the most dramatic people in all of tal'dorei.
"I would love to surprise them!"
Sam's dedication to Character with just his head visible above the table. Amazing!
It's so interesting watching this compared to the later episodes, with regards to the twins. "My sister and I" - Vax & Vex still refer to themselves in the collective, they aren't really independent yet. Need to rewatch & watch that shift in both characters.
Ok but just how genuinely touched and emotional Percy is that they are going to get involved with this shit is amazing
I love how Asume asked them to keep an eye on the Briarwood's and they just throw that out VM in a nutshell.
The fact that this arc is STILL relevant even in the current campaign is just 😱. And it all came from one page that Taliesin wrote, wow 😲 amazing
26:24 Percy's Murder face
When you cant be bothered to watch episodes before episode 28.
Lolol is it because of tiberius?
Anyone else coming back to get hype for the animation and get showered by extreme nostalgia all over your body? Well, gotta rewatch Campaign 1 I guess. A third time. With pleasure.
Bro how much time did you have?
This vídeos are about to get some views..
Thursday is going to be nuts when the live stream starts
Coming soon to a screen near you....
We got it
yup! im new to critical role, and I need to understand when the animation comes out! 🙂
Omg this was the start of Jenga!
If they don’t say No Mercy Percy in the animated show I will be sad
The soundtrack that plays whenever Percy gets violent with someone while wearing his plague doctor mask is titled "No Mercy Percy"
This is getting me hyped for the animation!!
I'm here imagining how every beat will look animated.
@@CrisSelene ....and it's amazing
What you think?
@@salmonformula4377 it's great!!!! I'm so happy with it so far
This is 4 years late, but thank you for your effort! I love how smoothly edited this is
Indeed, must say that this is a great idea of a video. So first of all, thanks for the video and the amount of work I expect it took. Well done, and thanks :)
Thanks!
Heroes of Exandria I love love love these condensed story arcs. You mention in the description that you had to remove part of a conversation for copy write. A lot of the videos in the playlist are taken down. Is there anything you can alter about them so they would work? I really want to watch the full arc again, but it's such a time investment :(
Im glad this popped in my recommended list considering the ongoing kickstarter for vox machina animated series.
That Natural 20 for the deception check though
This is going to be nice to get all caught up for the animated series.
Thank you for making this a streamlined series, and for publishing it so near Halloween as well! ^_^
13:27 The showing of the List.
14:55 my sister and I know a bit of your pain, I'm not ping to get into it. 'But there is nothing we can do'
Just you fucking wait
crazy how much i missed or forgot about before the arc actually started
THANK YOU OMG IM SO HAPPY THIS EXISTS this needs so many more subs and views your editing game has me freaking drooling well done!
Came here after watching The first 3 episodes of Legend of Vox Machina, interesting to see how the game played out at the table!
We are going to get this on ANIMATIOON!!!! If this is 33 min aaa 4 22 ep aaaah yes
Thank you for making this supercut. Really convenient! :)
You are a gift to this Earth.
Wow, matt mercer is the best dm.
legend of vox machina is bringing me back around again
"Would like to fireball them now then?" Best line
With the LOVM out, this was a great recap.
Think the animated series will start just after this episode ends/entering Whitestone. So it is a good History lesson
Animated series is pre-stuff then series 2 is briarwood
@@cait812 actually, the first 2-3 episodes will be new material, the rest will be Briarwoods, there hasn’t been any talk about what will be in season 2, just that it will be happening thanks to Amazon picking up the show
The birth of Jenga
How I still love this story so...
Thanks, I was looking for exactly this, a way to watch the key elements then restart watching in full from 27 :)
than*
30:40 the first time Orym appeared
The start of Jenga: “we need a safe word or something.” The birth of comedy is very mundane sometimes.
best arc of c1 imo
Rewatching for animation reasons :D
Me toooooooo I'm so excited!
Damn this makes me want to revisit campaign 1
Its interesting how the show handled this
So I just noticed a plot hole of sorts... Seeker Asum never made the connection between Percy and the Briarwoods, but he says he was keeping an eye on them since the times of the De Rolo family in Whitestone. Percy always introduces himself with his full name, that he is a De Rolo is not exactly a close guarded secret, and Asum is a spy, chief of inteligence in Taldore (when he is not a green dragon, which I believe he wasn't yet at this point)
First he wasn't a green dragon rayshan toke his shape after he died in amon after the conclave attack.
Second the briawoods covers there tracks very very well through charming or bribing any one coming close to them.
They did adress it a bit in the campaign wrap-up episode. Taliesin and Matt said there that the De Rolo family also had other branches, so the council probably assumed that Percy wasn't from Whitestone, but from some other De Rolo branch, not necessarily a very important one. They didn't have close ties with Whitestone, because the De Rolo family kept to themselves, so their fate wasn't this incredible tragedy that was at the front of their mind, they just assumed that the family did indeed die of an illness. But yes, I would agree that it would make sense for Asum to notice that Percy's name is exactly the same as that of one of the children in the Whitestone family, so the plot hole is not completely solved.

was that..... _her_ ? at that point?
or was it still _him_ ?
Still him. She was still with them.
so this may be a stupid question, i haven't watched campaign 1 yet except for bits and pieces. But since the Briarwoods are part of Percy's character introduction in episode 1 I'm assuming the players already knew his backstory, it's just the characters that didn't? Or did they keep their backstory videos secret from each other and this is the first time the players find out as well?
Have you ever played D&D? How much attention did you pay to the other players backstories after the first session or two when you're getting to know each other?
@9:20 The video title's name sake
PERCY WILL HAVE HIS REVENGE
Indeed he did
i finished campaign 2 and went to watch campaign 1, the intro they used on c1 was all the characters backstory right? so im assuming the players already know the backstory of one another unlike c2 ?
Yes. They played a homegame with these characters for about 2 years BEFORE they started streaming for us. So the characters all knew each other and had different relationships established from the home games they played. They started entirely from scratch with brand new characters who dont know each other in the following campaigns.
Can anyone explain what Episode 2 of this was so I don't miss anything?
AJ Vlogs I know this is SUPER late but if you go onto his profile and scroll all the way down on his videos and you’ll see pt.2
it's sadly removed due to copyright or so I've been able to identify...
hey just letting you know that several of the videos in this series are blocked. idk if you wanna do something about that or not
Jenga.
ah good memories, well not for Percy.
Hi! Where’s part 2?
Anyone here after #LoVM
14:29
So is there no part 2?
A few of these vids are blocked by Geek and Sundry for copyright. Guessing it was some automated thing.
What episode was this?
It looks like this was spread across several episodes. I'm not sure about before, but the "history lesson" is the beginning of ep 24 and most of the banquet happens in that episode as well.
Let me get this straight. Tiberious was in this arc, and yet when you animate it, you will leave him out. Doesn't that seem a tad mean spirited to even make him a side character? First the show got boring as hell the past few months, the dm's gf keeps getting passes on bad gaming behavior and snatching up AC items, and now this. Let the white knight sycophants out of the cages. If none of you can take criticism, I say you are fully delusional at this point.
Umm. Why would you talk about campaign 2. This has literally nothing to do with the current campaign.
He was in the arc for like 3 episodes...through out which he did nothing but be disruptive and try and hog all the lime light. Leaving him out wouldn't effect anything. As for the show being boring well that's a matter of opinion isn't it.
Orion was a meta gaming, toxic, shitty scum bag that doesn’t deserve anything let alone to leech off their success
He was only it in the arc briefly, and to put him in the animated series they would have to work with him again which they clearly don't want to do after all the crap he pulled, that should be obvious.
The stuff about Marisha is just nonsense and clearly none of the cast feel that way about her/the character. Its also completely irrelevant to this.
Lol this guy
