    Our Newest Lecture Series:
The Original Church: Lectures on the Acts of the Apostles by Father Josiah Trenham.
The Acts was written by the Holy Apostle and Evangelist Luke, as the 2nd part of his great literary masterpiece setting forth the Life of Jesus Christ in his Gospel, and then in the Acts showing forth the new Christian life made possible by the Lord’s great and saving deeds and the descent of the Holy Spirit. Here in these sacred pages we discover what St. Paul calls “new creation in Christ.”
Here we discover what is the birth-right of Christians - that is the continuous miracle of church life. Lecture titles are as follows:
Lecture #1 The Meaning of the Acts
    Lecture #2 Pentecost
    Lecture #3 Spiritual Life
    Lecture #4 Fellowship
    Lecture #5 Martyrdom
    Lecture #6 Conversion
Lecture #7 Defending the Faith: The Jerusalem Council

“Bless me, Father, for I have sinned..."
This is the first sentence spoken during the Sacrament of Confession.
It doesn't have to mean that the blesser agrees with the sin, but people need grace to repent.

I read the comments directed to you. I heard a new term (to me at least) called pope-splaining (from explaining). It's slang for the RC clergy trying to explain the Pope's meaning and that it's not what it appears to be (endorsing gay couples living together in sin).

    • @nicholasgeranios
      @nicholasgeranios Před 6 měsíci +1

@stevelenores5637 this Priest is commenting on fiducia supplicans. He should (along with other blunders he's made regarding Catholicism) do so from an educated perspective at some point... lest he become the eastern orthodox version of jack chick gospel tracts for the highly uneducated. That's where he's at right now.

@@nicholasgeranios I understood everything you said up to the ellipsis. I had to look up "Jack Chick Gospel Tracts". However he is not the only one commenting (what you call blunders). Many of of your own Bishops aren't very pleased either. The pope might hold firm and double down, but the confusion caused might also inspire him to rethink the wording of fiducia supplicans. If the RC clergy themselves are confused and some at the point of revolt, the pope himself should come out and clarify it. If the pope can't clarify it or for some reason refuses then the seeds of another schism have already been planted within the RC church. IMHO

Brother in Christ, I am afraid that traditional Catholicism offers not safeguard from the damage caused by this scandal, not because of the attacks against tradition by the modernists but because, by nature, the failure of the papal guidance also ruins an essential belief of traditional Catholicism : that the orthodoxy of the Roman faith is guarantied by submission to the Roman Pontiff (Unam Sanctam 1302). In other words, Francis is ruining both the modernist and the traditional narrative. I hope it will help many Roman Catholics seek refuge in the other way many Christians use to remain orthodox, which is the way we, orthodox Christian cherish from the beginnings.

No, the document does not validate or legitimize same-sex couples or unions. Here is a summary of the key points from the document regarding same-sex couples and blessings:
Church teaching on marriage remains firm. The document states: "This conviction is grounded in the perennial Catholic doctrine of marriage; it is only in this context that sexual relations find their natural, proper, and fully human meaning. The Church’s doctrine on this point remains firm." (Paragraph 5)
The Church cannot impart sacramental blessings on same-sex unions. The document affirms: "the Church does not have the power to impart blessings on unions of persons of the same sex. Such is also the meaning of the Responsum of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith." (Paragraph 5)
Possibility of non-ritual blessings to invite God's grace. The document discusses: "the possibility of blessings for couples in irregular situations and for couples of the same sex, the form of which should not be fixed ritually by ecclesial authorities to avoid producing confusion with the blessing proper to the Sacrament of Marriage." (Paragraph 31)
These would be spontaneous, not connected to civil unions: "Precisely to avoid any form of confusion or scandal...this blessing should never be imparted in concurrence with the ceremonies of a civil union, and not even in connection with them. Nor can it be performed with any clothing, gestures, or words that are proper to a wedding." (Paragraph 39)
Not intended to legitimize: "Indeed, such a ritualization would constitute a serious impoverishment because it would subject a gesture of great value in popular piety to excessive control, depriving ministers of freedom and spontaneity in their pastoral accompaniment of people’s lives." (Paragraph 36)
So in summary, the document upholds traditional marriage teaching while discussing potential pastoral care approaches involving non-ritualized blessings, with the intention not to legitimize same-sex relationships but to spiritually support couples seeking God's grace.

It add that it have to be out of the church, and clearly given to strengthen People to seek God will in their lifes, or protection of their health, familly and so on. I agree with you, it would have been far easier had you found an Orthodox church there and then, but perhaps it would help if you considered making a proper query in to Church history? If I could suggest anything, the starting point for all people like yourself earnestly seeking Christ should be the following question: Can the Church, the Body of Christ Himself as the Godhead, ever be divided? Or: If the unity of the Church has already been secured in eternity, then how can it ever be possible for her to be divided in this temporal world?

I've been in the same shoes for ages battling with staying "loyal" and intrusive thoughts of"what if I'm wrong, what if there's more". I strongly believe reading about life of orthodox saints would help on that. If nothing else you'll get information about how they prayed and what they made them stay strong and their experience of God. I trust God will help you pick up the right ones for you.

But it is too high for the Ukraine which has become one of the poorest countries in the world since 2022. Nonetheless, I have bought some of them. And I plan to buy them all with the lapse of time.

I converted from atheism to Roman Catholicism almost 14 years ago. I've been considering becoming Orthodox off-and-on for a few years, more earnestly in the last year or so, but seeing the Papacy finally, openly bless sodomy while issuing an Orwellian document telling us to deny our eyes is the last straw for me. The Orthodox Parish nearest me has a Priest who converted from Roman Catholicism himself, and I'm going to reach out to see about joining the Orthodox Catechumenate.
The Papacy has claimed it isn't blasphemous or sinful in any way for a Priest or Deacon to invoke the Power of the Holy Cross and the Holy Trinity over two men or women living in a sin which its own catechism says cries to heaven for vengeance, and that this may even be good or helpful to do. Claims that a simple permission doesn't meet the standard for an infallible teaching since it doesn't mandate or 'impose definitively' that all Priests offer this are hollow. So are claims that a bunch of disclaimers stop it from being the grotesque blasphemy that it clearly, visually and audibly, is to invoke God's blessings over such a couple, and that these disclaimers instead make it 'technically orthodox if maybe imprudent'. Papal infallibility on faith and morals that doesn't protect the church from the Pope permitting blasphemy and blessing grotesque immorality throughout the entire church isn't infallibility at all.
My obstinance, pride, and affection for many of the external forms of the Roman Catholic church caused this to take far longer than it should have, but the scales are at last falling from my eyes. Please pray for me friends as I pursue entering the Orthodox Church.

lol, I did read the document. No amount of insisting that only the persons and the non-sinful parts of their relationship are being blessed is able to change what is obviously, visually and audibly, taking place when two men or two women holding hands have a Priest make the Sign of the Cross over them, saying "N. and N., may almighty God bless you, the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit." That's why I called the document Orwellian; it demands that I deny the evidence of my eyes and ears.

Hi Father. thank you for this video. it feels like a fresh air to me. the Church is very clear on things like this and that should've been the case within the Roman Catholic Church.
I will be received into the Roman Catholic Church in a few days by chrismation because my Protestant baptism is valid. I have same sex attraction and I live in a muslim majority country where the nearest canonical Eastern Orthodox church is 800km from my house. I am three years into my conversion from my sinful life. I fall sometimes, but with God's help I am trying hard.
Apostolic Church gives me a great hope that a sinner like me can at least live in chastity just like God wanted, with all the pastoral care and the grace of God that is delivered through the Sacraments of His Church, to work on my salvation with fear and tremble, to present to God my body as a living sacrifice that is holy and pleasing to God. I have that spirit in me, I really want to do that my whole life. that is why I converted from Protestantism
but then the Catholic clergy is constantly insulting me in my conversion. Jimmy Martin got the support by the Pope, the Flemish and German bishops with Synodal Weg and their blessings of gay couples in churches months ago, and now Cardinal Tucho with approval by the Pope released that recent document. I am scandalized and confused, and also personally insulted. it is as if my conversion is for nothing
I thank you for this video. you gave me clear statements of what is a blessing, the priestly blessings and its nature according to Scripture, and why priests can not bless same sex couples, however they twist the language
I am using my inactive youtube account to comment this but I'm choosing St. Athanasius of Alexandria as my patron saint. Please kindly pray for me, Father. and I will pray for you also. Thank you very much. I love your work in Patristic Nectar

I am convinced that the Pontiff's ambiguous messages serve as a strategy to gauge societal opinion. This political maneuver helps to clearly identify those who support him and those who oppose him. If he garners sufficient support, he progresses with his agenda; conversely, if opposition is strong, he often claims to be misunderstood. This tactic effectively measures contemporary issues while maintaining his popularity within the church.

This pride allows you to hate others because you can’t face whatever challenges are present in your own life. Regardless what Father says here, the Gospel does not condone your hatred anymore than what you imagine others’ sins to be. Live in repentance and worry about how you will bless the world as a follower of Christ.
